I want to open up email account

I have 3000+ email addresses of people who have used the application/subscribed but I have never sent any email to them. Now, I want to change that.

I want to open up account with aweber or something but I am not sure which one is better. Who is better? I think aweber requires that all the people should subscribe again. I don't know if that is a good idea. But if I do that then do I risk of being flagged as a spammer? since I have never sent them any email before?

Thanks

Most services require that your "subscribers" optin...again! This is to help fight the spammers and to maintain their relationship with the ISP's.

There are a couple that will allow you to import your subscribers IF you can provide them with the date and IP address of the subscriber. Mailchimp for one will allow this.

The other option to use a self hosted autoresponder. The issue that some have though is that your domain host could limit, or shut down, your account if you are sending numerous emails - they think you are spamming!

If you decide to use a service just know that more than likely any names you import will have to optin again...and yes...you will lose a LOT of them!

So, if I go with aweber then I have no risk of being shutdown because they sent 3000 emails to my subscribers? If that is the case then good....I will open up the account, even if I loose "a lot of them".

Aweber, Get Response, Mailchimp and a host of others. Why would you be shut down if Aweber sent optin emails to your subscribers?

Your host would only do that if YOU were sending emails through THEIR servers, and that's not always the case either if done intelligently!

Well, last year, my hosting company shutdown my account saying that I spammed, eventhough I only replied to couple of emails that users sent. After couple of days, they opened up the account with warning. So, I really don't know how to do this. Because if I can be shut down for replied to emails then don't know what will happen if I send a mass email to my users. I am just afraid.

You need to make your first message an:

"Important Update For All {Software_Title} Users"

To serve you better, Motion Technologies is currently
    upgrading our customer communications system.
In order to continue receiving updates and support,
you must confirm your valid email address by clicking
    on the link below:

    [verification link]

You'd set that up in Aweber as your confirmation message
(and it would have to be manually approved) but I doubt
that they would have any problem with it.

Expect to see a significant percentage disappear due to bounces.
Expect even more to never verify.
Expect a few to report spam.
