I've had my site "waloosh.com" for a long time now. About a year now. When I first made it live, it was a site dedicated to my short stories and memoirs that I was writing at the time. After a long time of writer's block and lots of distraction at the time... I gave up on that whole idea. So then, I change my site into a social networking site similar to MySpace. It looked very similar to MySpace. I only had one problem... MAJOR competition. I wanted to be the next top social networking website, but all of a sudden, a TON of them just popped up out of nowhere. I abandoned that project fairly quickly. Soon after, I turned it into a general forum. It had sections for dating (some friends wanted to maintain that). Had sections for gaming, website design, photoshop, and even multimedia such as television, movies, and music. One by one, I took out section by section because the entire site was too broad to focus on a specific type of audience. Eventually, it became a gaming site with a large variety of flash games in the arcade, lots of cheats, a few guides, and some tips for specific games. However, that project was abandoned once I realized how broad "General Gaming" was, but I couldn't focus on just ONE specific game because I play many. Recently, it was a webhosting site. I had one client from WF and two others. I lost two clients, and only had one left that never finished their site and never replied to my emails. I was being hosted for free because I was an administrator for an alpha webhost reseller. After the root administrator made changes, I was no longer an administrator and was going to have to pay $10/month to keep it active. My girlfriend and I decided it wasn't worth it because we ran into nothing BUT problems since we first signed up with them. So, I abandoned that idea too since I wasn't making any money and I still can't get a job. Anyway... After that LOOOONG speech of possible worthlessness, I was wondering... besides internet marketing, creating my own products/ebooks... etc. Does anybody have any idea of what I could possible do with it? My girlfriend is hosting me right now on a shared server for free (thankfully). I'm pretty decent with graphics and coding, so I thought a tutorial site would be nice. I could possibly get donations from friendly people who enjoy my work and helpfulness. I'd like to do something that would make money, but I don't want to do internet marketing. I'm tired of webhosting since I ran into so many problems with my previous and don't have the money for a new server. I don't really have a hobby except graphics and web design. I like to help people... I guess I pretty much am answering my own question, but I want more opinions and some more ideas of what you guys think "Waloosh" should be? What's the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word "Waloosh"? |

Oh haha, that's part of internet marketing, lol. I thought the same thing, actually. I just don't want to do internet marketing or anything like that though.

Lol, well, what about a website dedicated to designing splash pages or minisites? Or just designs towards internet marketers? I was really hoping for a lot of replies and different ideas so I could brainstorm with some people... but I guess designs geared towards internet marketers should be ok. |

Well, I suppose I'll create a graphics design market then. I'm going to aim it towards internet marketers. So, that means, I'll have eBooks with all sorts of designs and ideas, banner advertisements, button advertisements, possibly head and/or footer graphics for websites, and I'll even make some call to action images for all sorts of things. If anybody wants to contribute with complete ideas for any kind of image, design, or even special effect, I'll be glad to include it and add your name to a list of contributors as well as possible discounts and/or freebies. |

I like your idea of the memoirs. If you don't want to do internet marketing, don't do it because you'll never keep up with it. Check out a site called Scribd.com. It's a sort of social publishing site. It's document sharing but people sell their novels on there, too, authors I've never heard of. If you want to do graphic design, you can show case part of your work by saving it onto a PDF and uploading it for people to view. Then have a link to Waloosh. Scribd is about a year old, but they get like 40 million unique visitors a month. So somebody's going to read your site. That Bear Marketing Guy is on there, too. Worth checking out. |

Waloosh.com? Hmm... sounds like the next big water-based theme park if you asked me. Haha. Then again, maybe you want to do a self-help blog on it. Just a suggestion. |

When I saw the name, I pictured a magician waving his wand. Might be an untapped niche, I dont know.

Meh, I think that too. If I had the money... hell yeah I'd open a water park, lol. Schlitterbahn is 2 hours north of me... and 2 hours south of me... I could be Waloosh... right in the middle! But in all seriousness. I can either get rid of the "Waloosh" name, (It was randomly made up by a person I've only talked to 3 times in my entire life before we found out it was somebody's last name.) or I can keep Waloosh and turn it into something spectacular. I've been so confused on what to do. I know I can't do internet marketing. I'm too, I don't know how to say. Not lazy, but just... not my niche or my bag of chips. Most people will say to turn your hobby into a website... my closest hobby is designing websites and graphics. Now that my girlfriend understands that I don't care if she plays her game... I should have some more time to do whatever, but I'm not sure. Anyway, I guess I'll be turning my hobby into a site, finally, and see where it goes. To be honest, I'm pretty much looking for anything that includes money... I've applied at over 30 jobs (yes, I counted) in my area... every SINGLE one of them told me that they either weren't hiring, or I wasn't qualified enough. Like Subway... told me no because I've never used a cash register before. Office Depot told me they found someone more qualified than me at STOCKING... And Target... heh... there's a HUGE blue sign on their door "NOW HIRING!". So.. I apply. "Sorry, we're not hiring at this moment." Yeah, so anything that comes with money |
