In a highly competitive niche, what's the best way to drive traffic?

Is SEO more important, or spreading content all over facebook?

I have great content, in what seems to be a highly competitive niche, or a non existent niche.

P.S. My last 2 posts, which had my situation detailed much more than this, were deleted, not sure why.. Can any mods message me regarding that?

If you are SURE you have topnotch content, why not play the game differently?

What I mean by this is that you blog about your engagements with top brands in your niche instead of the old (and failed) 'publish and pray' method.

I'm all for playing the game differently!

Do you mean commenting/guest blogging on other blogs?

"I have great content" is this validated by you or your readers?

Sounds cocky now that I read it again

Well, I haven't really written much other than some Facebook posts. I have a lot of friends who have said they benefit from my words. Figured I could reach out and help more people, and build the life I dreamed in doing so.

It depends on your strategy, the point of SEO is to get ranked from traffic but it takes time and with high competition is hard and sharing on FB instead is a different source of traffic it's more immediate but you don't get residual passive traffic from it.

Both have their pros and cons and a good strategy would be to do both.

I agree, both would be ideal. I guess I'm still a little confused on how exactly SEO works. I understand the importance of different sites linking to your site, but not sure how it picks out exact keywords for the rankings. I'm aware the meta tags have something to do with it. However, I can't wrap my head around how keywords are targeted to raise high in rankings.

For example, can I have a blog about fruits which is highly competitive, but a post about apples that is less competitive and ranks high?

I would assume if this is the case, I can zero down on different keywords in my niche to rank high in various keywords.

Content is most important. Don't expect to be looking for traffic sources before you have established content that is well written. You want to tag and SEO tag every post accordingly and do all images you use as well. Blogs are hard to start up and most fail because people realize that it is very hard to earn money on them.

Do what works best for you. Look at the time restraints each method has!!
