How you make indians buy?

Hi guys!

I'm having a test period in one of the websites which is selling web templates and themes. Everything going pretty good, but there is one annoying problem that i need to solve:

- we've got a big percentage of traffic from India, but part of buyers is 10 or even 20 times lower than from other countries
I understand that those guys are basically just browsing the website and looking for inspiration for their own themes and website designs, but i believe that there is a way too boost the part of people that might make a purchase.

I've already thought of pop-ups, pop-unders, asking for email and all that stuff...

So, maybe you can give me at least a small idea how i can sqeeze some more money out of them?)

That's damn hard, because most of my conversions came from US, Europe, etc. That country is hard to convert into sale. Those are junk traffic, it is hard to squeeze out money. Try offering cheap prices for your products.

Offer a comprehensive migration guide as a bonus.

Include a list of trusted migration agents...hit the agents up for a fee to be included and make sure you get a commission on all referrals.

Actually the Indian traffic is really hard to convert into the buyer. Most of the visitor will check & will not buy. Thanks

It's because most of them know how and where to get your product for free without paying for it.

    Trust me, this is true.

It's going to be hard to sell to Indians. One of the reasons is that if you sell in $ then it converts to 60 x 1 Indian Rupee. And that makes it very expensive for most Indians.

Agreed with you...I see you from india.

My country here get a lot cheap Foreigners workers here to do construction works because they are cheap to employ
next covert back to their rupee is a lot

and that why I also noticed a lot of them especially study IT ones , or have basic knowledge of IT and Marketing skills they rather sell than buy

That why I also noticed some IM employ them to do task like SEO , program , etc because is cheap.

Yes. An English education and the Internet opened up a whole new set of opportunities for people in the developing countries who can make use of the currency arbitrage to provide good quality work at cheap prices.

However if you still want to try you need to convince your audience that by using your premium templates they can benefit a lot more than they spend.
I don't target them specifically, i just want to pump up sales in that region. Other countries are going fine more or less.

Hi Stan - people from developing countries are very suspicious of conducting business, especially in an unfamiliar environment, because they get conned on daily basis in their everyday life, where they live. You will notice therefore that if they buy they tend to buy from well established brands. Bus as online commerce is becoming the norm and India is a fast developing country, I believe that you will see more participation in the future.

So, what do you propose? make 40% discount for them?

Right now they do not have enough cash to buy anything online. They will be able to do so in the futur and trust me, there's LOTS of hard online workers in that country and they are DAMN GOOD TOO!

But for now, redirect the traffic....

Well, we do buy stuff online. Online shopping in India is growing at a very fast rate. It's just that most of it is on local sites where we pay in Indian Rupees. And it's physical stuff (Indians don't like to pay for digital stuff I suppose, the ebook industry is an example).

And it's the USD and Euro conversion rates that burn a hole in our pockets for international purchases.

I perfectly agree with krod16. Myself being an Indian, I have tried to look for conversions in India. However the Dollar to Rupee conversion factor is on the higher side hence it will not encourage Indian buyers to go for stuffs in dollars or euros.

Online shopping in India is very recent trend and only 1% of the population is using that. And that too Indians go for physical products. It will take some time for people in India to get comfortable with online shopping and opting for digital products and services.

However if you want to increase number of likes and views, the you can consider India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka for cheap traffic.

Yes traffic from India is the hardest to convert especially if you are promoting products over a certain price range. Remember most Indians have a very low disposable income so that should explain that.

It's a very poor country, only conversions you're gona get are on freebie offers.

I'm plagued with indian traffic too, they take up a lot of my time trying to get free info from me via email and comments on my site.

Thankfully I'm making the move to paid traffic now, so I can select which countries my traffic comes from.

Im not sure whats the name of this plugin but Im using: country discount alert.
It works in this way: some indian will go to your site and there will be popuporsome type of ad saying: hello, we have a special discount for you and there will be India flag or his/her city, region.
it will increase trust and happines by this visitor because he will feel more interesting and valuable.

    Hi Stan,
I believe you have to have some stretgy like for eg. give free hosting with your templates or say discounts for students and % discount for referrals.
Also put option for their own site (if they bought ur template) promotion on your site, cross linking also helps your site ranking and indirectly you are encouraging your clients to promote your website/Adds/offering.

    Try if this will help.
    Best of luck !!!

Ill give you a very important tip as I am indian too.
#1. Change pricing to INR on landing page for Indians.
#2. Add Indian payment gateway like paytm, they trust.
#3. Personalized the page if you can.
