Someone Help a Newbie Here: Just a few Questions!!

Hi guys

I've been reading the forum and I'm thrilled by the amount of information you guys share here. I'm trying to make my entry to online marketing and I have set up a blog and I'm looking for ways to skyrocket everything. So far, my blog has 97 articles and it's 9 months old. There is nothing I have done so far to increase my traffic apart from just writing and posting the articles. On average, the blog receives about 25 sessions a day.

With the information I have provided above:
  1. I'm I on the right track?
  2. Are the number of sessions too low for a 9-month old blog?
  3. Are the number of pieces way below an amount that can be deemed as enough to get good traffic?
  4. What can you advise me to do next?
  5. Where can I find cheap but quality articles for my blog? (500 words articles)
  6. If you were me, what would you start doing now?

I will appreciate your help.

Thanks guys.

I'm I on the right track?
    Do you think so?

After nine months you are still not getting anywhere. There's no shame in regrouping and changing the plan. Smart business people do it all the time. Now you know what doesn't work.

    Experience is a valuable asset.

    Hello,
Your blog should contain, content that you know about, blogs that do well, always have something that owner knows something about. Learn SEO, marketing, traffic, and monetize it right, lead capture, list building, and make sure website design is perfect. and there is more, but for now try to work on that.

      1. I'm I on the right track?
Depends where you want to go. For blog building you seem to have stuck at it which is 95% ahead of most people.

Bret may be right in that you simply have the wrong niche or something that means your current project is not going to work. However as you have done very little and are seeing some results it's also very possible that you are on the right track but just have not done all the things you need to ramp up your success.

From my experience you will do better developing your successes that starting something you know nothing about.

      1. Are the number of sessions too low for a 9-month old blog?
Numbers vary wildly based on a huge range of factors. Plenty of people would give their right arms for 25 unique a day
Is it a life changing amount of traffic? Of course not.

But if you have done zero SEO and no social networking then that is probably to be expected

      1. Are the number of pieces way below an amount that can be deemed as enough to get good traffic?
Traffic quality has no relationship to numbers.

Where does the traffic come from? What are they looking for? Does it convert to money?

      1. What can you advise me to do next?
Logically SEO may improve your traffic but that depends on your niche and on the keyword research you do. If your blog is weight loss or a similar high competition niche then SEO will be a major task. If it is a less trodden niche or more focused then SEO may give you some impressive results in generating more traffic.

As above where does it come from at the Moment? What search engine? What keywords? etc.

      1. Where can I find cheap but quality articles for my blog? (500 words articles)
Generally cheap and quality are not found together. if you need cheap then be sure to vet and rewrite the articles you get. Adding poor content is a sure way to go downhill fast.

      1. If you were me, what would you start doing now?

First build an email list. Use the traffic you already have to the max by giving away a free offer in exchange for an email. Even at 25 unique a day, you should easily be able to get 5 sign ups. That's 150 a month being added to your list.

Second Monetize your site AND your new list

Third make sure basic onsite SEO is done for every page.

Forth Ensure you use current stats to select new keywords around which to create new content. What content is currently getting your visitors?

Fifth Link build if you are not in a very competitive niche. Or at least find less competitive/long tail keywords to target and link to.
      {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[10458269].message }}
  • It all depends. Focus on SEO, learn more about keyword ranking.

Some people get much more traffic with less effort and articles.
Some people get less traffic with more effort and articles.

That is pretty low traffic for so many pages. But still, its an asset so that is great.

What you need to do is find more low competition, high traffic keywords so you get more exposure on search engines. Then base your articles on those.

You usually need a tool to find these. I have used something called micro niche finder for that.

Focus on your content. Make sure that it really helps the visitors on your website. Make it a mix of articles videos great images and headlines that pull people in.

You can get content here or I prefer Iwriter it's fast but don't hire a basic writer go atleast to premium it's still cheap. Make sure you know the topic well and try to find a writer that does also. If the writer doesn't you may have to tell him beforehand what conclusions you want the articles to come to.

Find places to market more content to pull more traffic. Make sure that content is also helpful.

    Social Media
    Blogs
    Forums

    Seo your website.
    Post in FB groups

Keep testing, tracking and improve perpetually.

      Are you monetizing this?

Depending on the topic, even that small amount of traffic should be getting compiled into a mailing list or spending money on something somewhere on the site.

Have you made a sale somewhere?

If you are unable to get anyone to do anything on the site, then you may be headed the wrong direction all together.

What is there for people to do on your site?

You probably shouldn't try to monetize this. Is it in the internet marketing niche? And why do you only have 97 articles on your blog in 9 months? At 25 visitors (sessions) per day, and after 9 months..... you might want to pursue a different venture, and business model.

    Hi guys,

Thank you all for your input. I really appreciate the replies.

I have an offline job, so I don't pay attention to the site that much. Probably, this is my 2016 resolution and I'd like to get more ideas before I allocate most of my time and resources to the blog.

@Tonny Marriot Thanks for such a comprehensive reply. I will be sure to take in all your recommendations.

@Jill Carpenter I've not yet monetized the site. My initial plan was to get traffic fast, but from the general view here, I think I have more to do.

Many of you have recommended learning SEO first and that's what I will start doing from today. My blog niche is fashion and most of the traffic comes from Google. I have not yet paid attention to social media. http://reedfashionmag.com/

@Randall I'm not giving up on the site

@Brent Stangel That's a sweet advice and I was considering that too.

Regarding the articles on your blog, I will give this advice : focus more on the quality (not quantity) of the articles and how much helpful info they provide to your blog visitors, than worrying about the SEO factor, keywords, ranking in the SERPs, etc.

If you have high quality articles that provide good, solid advice / information to your readers, they will naturally want to share your posts. Make sure you make that easy for them to do, by having social sharing buttons on your blog (easy to implement with various free WP plug-ins).

Gently encourage your blog readers to share each article and / or leave a comment and maybe even give them an incentive for doing so...

As for article creation, I myself frequently use a couple of really good Re-Writers of articles on Fiverr who do a great job of making any article unique enough to pass Copyscape and still have proper grammar, punctuation, etc.

Hope this helps at least a little bit.

I think the biggest question for me is how are you advertising (or getting the word out there) for your site? Or are you just writing content and hoping people will visit?

For the amount views you are getting on a daily basis, it seems like you need to tweak your keywords. With 97 articles, you should be receiving more traffic to your site.

It seems like you have really worked hard in adding content to your site and this is a good thing so don't give up on all the hard work you have done.

If I were you, I would focus on long tail keywords. Add extra keywords that you know will get you some more traffic. Not only are keywords important, but also H1 and H2 tags in your article.

Have you done any backlinking to your articles? You can utilize places like Hubpages, InfoBarrel and Ezine to start off. There are also some services that will post your links to high quality blogs but make sure they are posted on a related page.

You can find cheap quality content in many places like here in the Warrior Forum, there are pretty good services available. When I used to purchase articles for my old sites, I would go to DP or Fiverr since they offer really cheap articles.

Reed Fashion Magazine - Fashion & Style: Where it all begins
Reed Fashion Magazine is an online fashion magazine that provides readers with information they are looking for on fashion, modelling and other related stuff
Ok, you're killing me here. lol "other related stuff" is a bit vague. Just "fashion and modeling" can be a bit vague as well. I'd hone down to be the go to site for "?" and the rest is just nice added spin offs.

Fashion for Moms, fashion for aspiring models, fashion for wanna be young models, Fashion for women of color, Fashion inspired by Kenya, - Give yourself a specific market that can feel most special first. This will help you narrow down your SEO efforts to find the most important places to deal with first.

You have some nice content. Layout is not too bad.

You have more on there then a lot of people would who are already making some money.

If you kick up the social media efforts this is what's going to really kick you up in traffic.

Things like the events you are posting - I have to imagine there is a new fashion event that can be talked about at least 2x a month. Heck, I just found a site that has 3 events per month in Jan and Feb already filled out and that is just one site.

Get a regular posting schedule in place. You are a magazine.

When I go to the store and get a magazine, it is the issue for x month and it covers a specific # of topics each month. Then I know to go back next month and get the new issue.

Many upcoming models have fallen victims of scams that have left them with drowning dreams and aspirations. This is where the magazine comes in handy. It provides guides and other vital information that models can use when breaking into the modelling industry.
This could be used in a very powerful way. Give me stories of these people! Show me what they did to overcome it! Teach me specifically how to break into the modeling agencies, and on the side you are going to show me some make up tips and fashions I should expect to be seeing.

Not saying that should be the main focus, but I think you need to give yourself a main focus. The other stuff just supports it all - like the regular skin tips, etc.

Get a "subscribe" link in the top bar there. I see the form at the bottom but had to scroll to find it.

Spend some time analyzing some other big mags.

        Vogue:
The latest fashion news, beauty coverage, celebrity style, fashion week updates, culture reviews, and videos on Vogue.com

        Elle:
Watch runway shows from the hottest fashion designers, scope the best dressed celebrities on the red carpet street style, discover the latest and greatest beauty products to maintain a healthy glow, and get a sneak peek at our celebrity cover shoots befor

        Glamour:
Your guide to the latest fashion trends, outfit ideas, hair + makeup how-tos, and celebrity scoop is on Glamour.com.

Do you see how each one of these is narrowed down a bit? If I want fashion news I'm going vogue. If I want to see runway shows, I'm going Elle. If I want fashion trends (not to necessarily be confused with news) then I look at Glamour.

I think if you select a prime specialty you are going to have an easier time determining your niche within the market.

Everything that Jill already said, plus this:

That amount of traffic is too low for 9-month old blog, no doubt about that.

One way to solve that problem is to learn more about SEO, although that's not quick solution nor sure solution that you will get more traffic. In general I don't like SEO because you still need to wait for traffic, whatever you do you're actually in mercy of search engines, you can't control the traffic, etc.

What I would suggest you is to turn to social media, especially Facebook. Create a fan page, post content there, get fans, share your content with them... If your content is good, you can get many fans quickly because it looks to me that type of content you have gets shared a lot.

Even think about paid ads. Kim Roach recently had a challenge to drive 10,000 people to her new blog in a month. She did it mostly with paid FB ads, and she built a nice 1,500 subscribers list along the way. That's definitely something you could do too.

Not sure what it was but something you said made me go check the OP's backlinks.

They are all directory - all the same anchor text "Fashion& Style: Where it all begins" all of 162.

Op did something somewhere for these links but I'm not confident they are really helping much.

I too believe it's going to be the more social channels that are going to be better prospects.
