Is there a Tipping Point or Snowball Effect in blogging?

I'm asking your opinions on this Warriors.

When one first begins to blog, it takes a lot of effort to not only create good content, but to also get backlinks and network to get your blog out there. Slowly but surely, in the beginning, traffic begins to trickle in. Comments get posted. People slowly start to link back or pass word around via Twitter, their blog, etc.

Do you believe, that at some point along the way...a blog finally hits a Tipping Point or Snowball Effect where the traffic begins to continually grow on it's own with very little marketing or networking? Of course, the great content would remain the same and continue...I'm just talking as far as the traffic aspect.

It seems to me this may be very true.

Thoughts?

Do you have a personal example of this happening for your blog?

I'm just curious.

Yes there is a point where you start showing up for more and more "searches" - but the link building really needs to never end. Just the way it is.

You may find that enough other people are linking to your content to deal with that though if you have "good" stuff out there.
