Best Wordpress Theme for Membership Site?

Here's what I suggest you do.

Spend some time looking at some other membership sites on the web, and when you find ones you like try peeking at the source code to see if they are wordpress.

Then look for the word "theme" and see what themes they are using.

You can check the websites you like at the bottom, most of them have "designed by" or you can try ThemeForest, the best site for templates for me.

You can find anything you want there, or even if you like some designer you can ask them for a private theme.

But yes - there is no such thing as the perfect membership theme. It's much better to have a clear idea of what you want your site to look like first, and then get the theme that will help you replicate that look. Research existing membership sites in all niches and start bookmarking the ones you admire.

If you can't find the perfect theme, then you can try cloning the look of sites with front-end page builders like Thrive and Beaver Builder.

I like doing this with Headway. Pretty simple to copy any ones lay out.

Add a few key plugins and you are done.

In general, with appropriate WP plugin, you can turn any WP theme into membership site, so the choice will come down to how you want your website to look like, or what options you want to have, which again can be controlled with additional WP plugins.

Honestly, I've built membership sites with free themes that come with Wordpress, as well as with more expensive themes like OptimizePress, and premium themes from stores.
