Is this a Good Idea for a Website

I currently have a site that I use to review IM products. I have been considering allowing affiliates to post reviews of products they promote and allow them to keep the commission. I would charge a per article fee (less than $5). I would also allow the author to put a list building link in the "author's box".

I think it could work since one of the biggest issues with new affiliates is getting hosting and a site. if he or she doesn't have to worry about that they could just concentrate on SEO. And that is my biggest concern. I am concerned that someone could buy a backlinking "deal" that tanks the site. I am still trying to figure out how to prevent this.

Is this a good idea?

I did click on your LINK at the bottom of your post and got the following message.
This web page is not available.

I don't believe that is a link to his site anyway. That is to a WSO.

OP, you have too much HTTP in the link. Just edit that link

It would sorta be similar to an article posting website, no? Except just focused on affiliate IM tools?

Is the website already up and running?

I think for posters to be willing to pay the $5 to post you'd have to show that your website is already getting traffic. Otherwise, if it's still a new website with no traffic, they could just pay a bit more than $5 to buy a domain that redirects to a freebie blogging or website service.

As 04real said, you firstly need to have traffic, and if you have good amount of quality traffic, then you can charge even more than $5 per post. If you don't have traffic, it can still work as people might see it as fairly cheap backlink from highly related website.

What I would suggest you to do is to give your best to create a high quality website with HQ content and honest reviews. Which means, in order to gain and keep quality, you need to write content yourself, or be very strict about what you're gonna post or allow on your website.

Idea in general is not bad, but as you said yourself, running a website like that could be a little bit tricky. However, I'm sure there are some other options to make the whole thing better, I would just need to think about it a little bit more.

How to change your signature, if you've forgotten the path:

      1. Go to your profile by clicking on your picture or avatar in any of your posts, or by clicking said same at the top of any page in the forum.

      2. In the bar under you name, to the right, you will see Customize Profile. Click.

      3. In the left column in the new window you will see Settings & Options and under that, Edit Signature. Click and make your changes.

My STRONG advice is to never, ever link to a site that is unprepared. Even an outline of what you plan on putting on the site, titled OUTLINE, is better than nothing or a link to a site that doesn't function properly.

PS - I think your concept is delightful and worthy. You can build something like that into a trend-setter.

That's kind like classified ads site. You let people to post anything (in this case: article) and their affiliate url. And you charge them to do that in your site. That's what I think.

I love your idea, just one thing... in 2016 how about you just make it all free, give the commision and everything away. Dont charge the $5 fee per article. Watch it grow for one full year. Then in 2017 work on monetizing the site, through article charging, membership, advertising ect..... Remember Free is King. If you don't believe me ask Facebook and the other Free services. The idea comes first, watch it grow and then monetize.

I was thinking about making it free. I guess the next question would be how do I get the word out?

Why would consumers (potential buyers) come to the site to see nothing but biased reviews of affiliate products that they may or may not have an interest in? It seems to me that this would be a spamfest. I can't think of a reason that I would want to visit the site.

That's how all review sites are working, no matter the niche... What's the difference between IM review site and some blog that reviews weight loss products, for example?

People are still looking for reviews and if someone can make a decent site - definitely not one that would look like spamfest - I guess it could work.

It's even not a question if he should charge for it or give it away for free. The right question is how to structure that site to be useful to visitors and profitable for owner/participants.

Just look what's happening now... There are probably hundreds of IM review sites but all those reviews are shitty. I think that something better would be highly appreciated.

I agree with some of the other guys above who opined that you should allow free reviews first. Let the reviews flow in so that the site generates decent traffic. Then you can think of monitization.

Product reviews will be vetted. someone can write an honest review for a product for information purposes. Also, the site will allow for visitors to comment and offer their own review. The general consensus will be the overall review of a product. So, if a reviewer gives a junk product positive reviews but that is not the case, he/she will lose credibility. By keeping it free to post, The reviewer would have no reason to use the post as a means to only generate commissions.

Honestly, you should try it and see if it works. That's the best way to determine if it's a good deal

What is your benefit? If you have your own website with good amount of trafic, just post review articles and make money.

I see 2 benefits off the bat.

OP gets content for his site. Op gets MORE traffic on his site.

If he's got a good sign up form on the upper right corner or a pop up sign up that hits everyone visiting the site he can build a list quicker.

Won't matter that someone else has a link going out if he can snag new visitor info on the way.

You have to remember that OP is going to have the ability to see what kinds of keyword are working and what are not. Which products might appear to be of interest.

Very little traffic since I stopped posting when I deployed. It would actually be a new site. Site age is eight year but low traffic.
