Is my website name is effective for my business?

Hello guys,

I'm marketing my business now to the open world - me and my team WordPress plugin developers.
I started to work out on new brand name - BunnyDev - BunnyDev - Professional plugin development tailored to your needs.
and I have to ask if maybe it's necessary to choose a domain and actually a brand name that will contain the words "WordPress" and "Plugin"?

Thanks.

Hey, personally I like the name BunnyDev if you associate your name with your service. For example you have a really fast turn around( Bunnies are quick) people are really into quick and accurate development at least I know I am. I'm sure you get the picture

I think the name BunnyDev is great, just make sure that your site and social media channels help broadcast the fact that you specialize in Wordpress Plugin Development.

The name is great. That is something unique to help people remember you by.

Try using your tagline to specify that you specialize in Wordpress Plugin Development.

Where does the "Bunny" part come into play? What is that?

General advice: Whatever you sell, just make your website name about that topic. Then market the heck out of it.

I have the same question Randall has. What does "Bunny" have to do with it? Is it just something clever you came up with?

Unless the people telling you how much they love the name are in your target market, their opinions don't mean much. Try taking one plugin and putting it on the WP directory under your BunnyDev name and see how it's received.

I do agree with the people who have told you to make sure it is really obvious that you do plugins for Wordpress, not some other platform or application.

Quite frankly, I'm not even sure of what is your real goal with this post.

It seems to me as you somehow just want to promote your actual website, that you seem to believe as being ready for business when you say "I'm marketing my business now to the open world" while it is NOT even presentable to the public, unless you are suicidal business AND SEO wise.

There's no USP, no CTA, you use a purchased theme while you pretend yourself to be WordPress plugins "developers", no order form, not even instruction on how one needs to proceed to start doing business in any way with you. You talk about plugins, yes, but you present a "portfolio" for graphics on the FP ??? Worse, your content has a lot of nonsense text AND it gets worsen with some LOREM IPSUM gibberish ???

Who are you trying to fool and waste time of???

To add to what I said earlier and in response to your specific questions about a brand name firstly let me state that...

I have been using WordPress for the last 3 years now. I have built several WordPress websites and have used numerous plugins. I am very much in this market. There are probably a lot of people on this forum what are in the market.

When choosing a brand companies usually get the opinions of the target market about a brand name which you are trying to do on this forum. Ultimately you will have to use a number of different approaches to choosing your brand name. Asking the target market is one of them. Testing is one of them. Another important factor is the product or service you offer. It has to be good so that people can associate your offer to something of value and create a positive association.

I majored in International Marketing which covered Branding. I have personally done a lot of research into choosing a brand name and discovered that some brand names have no significance to their target market.

Take for e.g. the brand name "Google" - What does it mean? It's not even a word but it was created to make it unique and memorable.

"Originating from a misspelling of the word "googol", the number one followed by one hundred zeros, which was picked to signify that the search engine was intended to provide large quantities of information." Source: Wikipedia

The average person would not instantly make the association between the meaning of the name Google and what it does. We all just know that it's the largest search engine.

What makes it such a great brand is what it offers (its products and services) and its marketing, not necessarily the name itself.

What I would suggest is to type in the name WordPress development into Google. Look at all the names that come up. Check if your name is unique. Test out different names.

Write up an "About page" that spells out how you are unique. Tell people your story. Get some testimonials. Make an irresistible offer to get people to try you out.

Btw your website content needs a bit of working on before it can be ready to market.

You can't use the word "Wordpress" in your domain name because it is trademarked. Many people who write support things for wordpress use WP in their domain instead.

If you get a new domain, get a dot com instead of a dot org, that will help a little bit in looking more professional.

What if in future you'll be providing services like WordPress themes customization or Drupal development, or managing PHP websites?
As I see, you have already a website with nice domain name. Everything is work, keep working. As for me, no need to make changes.

Your Name for hosting is wonderful and I don't think there is any advantages of including the keywords in url name..So don't worry about it and go with your name.

I quite like the name to be honest, as mentioned previously with the google example it is all about creating your brand behind the name, what makes you guys unique and this is what your customers will relate with your brand name.

Another great example of this is the online greetings card company Moonpig, who would have thought?

You also have your office location on your contact us page as The Whitehouse.

The minute you put "WordPress" or even plug in into your domain name you are pigeon holing yourself into a niche. If you decide you want to expand to other types of plugins outside of WordPress you would have to rebrand. I like what you have name wise.
