Ideas for monetizing Personal Growth/Psychology website with 10,000-15,000 visitors a day?

I have a site that I have been successful at driving traffic to it, but I am trying to find better ways to monetize it.

The users are rather educated and of a bit higher intelligence.

Does anyone have any ideas of ways to successfully monetize this brand?

I have mostly been using Adsense.

For what its worth, I have an email list of about 5k and some rather large social media accounts.

In would say build a list, but it looks like you are already doing that. I would think your conversion rate must be very low if you are getting 10-15K uniques per day. I would think you could capture at least 1%, which would be 100-150 subscribers every day.

How old is the website and how did you build up the traffic?

I get about 30 subs a day since I added a popup. Even with a popup conversion is still about .3%. What would you do with the list?

Website is about 3 years old, but really started growing the past 6-12 months. Most of the traffic is SEO and FB.

Send out a survey to your list so you can figure out what topics your subscirbers are interested in. Then you'll know what kind of content/offers to mail your list in the future.

Start a monthly membership where you'll email them daily self help quotes and tips that they can't get anywhere else.

Charge $5 per month for it so that it has a low barrier and a low refund rate.

Get 5,000 people on it and you're doing $25k.

That's a lot of visitors. Definitely charge for ad space on your site. The quote above is a great idea. Send out a survey asking your list what their interests are, then whatever has the highest positive response, create a product around it. It can be a personal development course like what Jim Rohn or Tony Robbins does. It can be a series of videos or a series of audios or ebooks. You can even charge a monthly subscription for it. You're getting enough traffic to make it happen.

If you don't want to start something, then become an affiliate that is related to your niche. A personal dev audience is a good audience. In my experience, these people are inclined to buy esp into business opportunities.

    Thanks for the replies.

I can ask the subscribers what they are looking for, I have a solid idea though. I'm looking around for ideas of what offers to send them but I haven't found many in the psychology niche.

Most of them are interested in self discovery and finding out more about themselves. Something like those DNA testing kits that tell you about your health and ancestry likely will work, but they are only giving $10 per sale ($180 product). That's ridiculously low for the affiliate world.

Anxiety is another angle that might work. However, everyone says they are a very tough market to convert.

I'm open to ideas. I know there is potential here I just need to sort out which way to go with it.

The easiest way to make your first product is to take the content that is already on your site and "repurpose" it into an ebook. This just means to edit the content and reformat it into an ebook that is a collection of your best content.

You may be thinking "why would they buy it when they can read it for free on my site?" Well, that's exactly what I thought years ago when I created my first ebook. I took content from my website and put it into an ebook and offered it for sale at a $19.95 price point just to see if anyone would buy it. At the time, I didn't even expect it to be successful. I only did it to try to experiment and learn about selling ebooks.

As it turns out, in my first month the ebook actually made almost exactly as much money as I earned in Adsense that month. I have been selling it on my site ever since and it's made steady sales for years now.

    Hi,
that's boat loads of traffic to your site!

    Anyways, onto your question:

I would recommend you to promote affiliate products related with what you are giving away. You could write a review or something similar on a product and embed affiliate links.

Another option would be to sell shoutouts to smaller sites. You said you had "a rather large social media following" which again you could sell shoutouts for!

You could also sell advertising space to smaller sites in the same niche. Charge them a monthly fee or something of similar kind.

Perhaps make your own product and sell it on the site.

Goodluck with of your site! You can do it!

Thanks for the replies. They've helped a lot. I like the idea of repurposing content to see if I can sell it as an eBook. It will at the least give me some experience in that niche.

If anyone else has other ideas for monetizing I'd be glad to hear them!

  • Why not try whitelabelling vitamins products or something similar for brain health, there are lots of natural supplements that help with concentration, anxiety etc.
