Best free courses for Internet Marketing?

Hey fellow Warriors. After a couple years of working a "normal" job I finally have some money saved up and I want to try internet marketing again. I really think I can do it this time!

I'm spending the first week of this month forgetting everything I thought I used to know and starting over from scratch mentally. (Because I couldn't make this work before so I don't want to hold onto bad habits or false knowledge.)

I have some old WSO's that I bought in the past but they don't really seem up to date so I'm looking for some free information to get started with. One of the things I wish I knew when I first started is that all of the info I need to succeed is out there in forums, blogs, articles, and just sitting there starting at me on every website I visit. I didn't need to spent a ton of cash on courses etc. Now I'm sure some people might disagree with me but that's just my opinion

I have been making my way through the Digital Strategy crash course here Digital Strategy Crash Course | Builder Society and it's been good so far but I'm looking for something that goes more in-depth in social media, SEO, and building a brand. Digital Strategy has articles covering those aspects but I'm looking for an entire course on each of those topics instead of just a day.

Anyways.. Welcome me back to the game, I'll be sitting at the grown up table soon enough I promise!!!!

Best option to get started would be getting a mentor..
I know it would require initial capital but believe me
it is the best thing to do, if you want to start earning

I completely agree with you ,Your answer has been the best so far ,I dont know how many times i have written this there is nothing free to be honest ,I dont know y people ask this all the time ,the sooner they realize the better ,Once again i am repeating there is nothing free,What is free is this ,I can tell you to find the problem and provide product around it ,but the question is how ,Just search on youtube about affiliate marketing what will you find ,the same info that i have told you ,but the question is how ,will my post make any money for you no it wont and neither will others but they can be good staring points, as i am afirm believer in finding mentors ,Ultimately if you take action they can be your JV or even your bussiness partners who knows ...as this resonates with me

Moral of the story is nothing comes for free try to think outside the box and beyond that

Dawood, that's a good idea. I was reading something about always positioning yourself so you're working with one person who is in a mentorship role, and also having a pupil that you can teach at the same time. Teaching is a great way to learn, and I'm sure I will find a mentor once I've got the basics covered for myself. I want to be able to add value to the relationship, but I'm not interested in hiring a 'coach' per se.

As you said yourself all of the info you need to succeed is out there in forums, blogs, articles, and just sitting there starting at you on every website. There's a lot to learn but take things one day at a time and try and learn one new skill at a time and you'll soon learn the ropes.

The only place I know of that has a good bit of free information is Mark Ling's affilorama. You can sign in for free training where there are a lot of videos as well as text on many subjects. I don't know however how deep he goes into things as of course like many others he is selling a course so I don't think he would go too deep in his explanations.

Thank you Shane, I will add those links to my bookmarks.

One thing I'm FOR SURE going to avoid is spending too much time reading and no time taking action. I believe that one can only learn so much from reading, and trial + error is a great way to learn... So I'm just taking this week to minimize the "error" once I get to the "Trial" part

    Thanks Marks

There is a ton of quality free information out there as mentioned previously but it will save you time and money in the long run to invest if you have the capital.

Fundamentally the IM game hasn't changed, the WSO's you purchase may be out dated now but it sounds to me like you are looking to build a business and I do not want to sound like I am knocking WSO's because so have some great content but there are also a lot out there which are 'hacks' and over time become less effective, you do not want to build a business around these anyway.

Invest in a solid system and if needed a reputable mentor.

My advice to you is start today.

I disagree with you Chyan. When it comes to IM there isn't some secret magic bullet that you can only unlock by paying for information. That's the kind of mentality that keeps people paying for new products every month but never making any progress. It's that false "perceived value", you feel like you're taking a step forward because you bought something but ultimately it's the hard work that will get you there, no super-secret information. The best information isn't being sold, it's being used and shared among friends and business partners.

      Hi,

One of the best free courses out there is called "Wealthy Affiliate"

They have a premium membership as well but you can join for free and still get massive value form it, not only will you get access to their world class training, you will also get access to their super community of members.

I have been a member for a little while now and it is amazing to be part of such an active, helpful and engaging community.

Within Wealthy Affiliate you will find all the training you ever need, and you have expert help available to you every time you log in.

Why you can not always rely on free stuff

The problem with looking for free information or jumping from free course to free course is that no matter how hard you look, you just will not find as much value as in paid products, programs, and services.

To understand why you much first understand how this business works.

      1. You provide great, free value content to your viewers

      2. You build a relationship with those viewer

      3. You offer those viewer your products or services where you can provide a lot more value to them.

So Internet Marketing is all about giving away valuable solutions to people with problems and to do that, it cost money.

So to get the best information out there you need to spend some money wisely. You should not buy every course you see but you should find a brand or individual who you trust and has given value to you before and you should explore what else they have to offer in terms of paid products or services, As this way that company or person will be able to provide you with more of the value that you are seeking

      Hope that helped!

My 2 cents is to get a "silent" Mentor. A few people here like John Mccabe or Steve B or Tom Addams. Do a search on them and absorb some of the things they say and do.

I did this when I started out years ago.

Of course if you want to fast track ( and have the funds) as others have said get a good mentor .

Imo, Eric Louviere is a good one

The information you need (and may already have) is readily available in countless places to say the least. You don't need to buy an online course.

If you're going to spend money, get a mentor/coach. It may not be the lack of information that's holding you back, it's likely the discipline and direction required for taking action.

I don't mean to be harsh, but a GOOD mentor can change that for you.

If a mentor is out of the question, then you need to research who are the right people to follow in this industry, and replicate what they're doing. Action action action. Actually getting stuck in is the most important factor.

    Hope this helps.

One of the best resources is on the forum! US the members as their is not one of us that has not screwed up , buggered it or made an arse trying so my advice is just do it what ever you want as a test and see what happens.

I did and made $27,000 in 3 weeks , there are numerous sub forums on the site do what we did in the old days and just spend time in a few and you will pick up some good tips and then try them on the test project and who knows you may make some pocket money in the process.

You will have Warriors writing that free is not good and you need to spend money well they are the ones who never take risks , so go with the gut. I went with a free domain and and free auto res-ponder and sold crap for Rap bank and made money so you can do that.

Bet you did not know that there is another social site out there just like Facebook and ranks just as high and no competition, as you wrote you have been away for awhile remember no more push button programs or silver bullets so you have to work now lol.

Just have fun take notes and when you make bank sell the process as a course on Udemy.

Before reading, let me be clear that I know and understand that everyone learns and absorbs information differently. What I will relay is my own personal experience.

    Onward...

There are many different forms of currency. We mostly think of cash money as currency, but another big one is time. We tend to spend more of what we have more of.

When I started, I had more time than money so I spent time. LOTS of time. Here is what I learned...

Free information - there is a LOT of it out there and much of it is good. And much of it is not. One thing about that is we end up wasting a LOT of time because we don't know when something is a waste until we learn it.

Of course, the same can be said about paid products and mentors. Some out there ARE a waste. But another thing I learned is this.

Cash is replaceable. You can always make more. Time is not. Once it's gone it's gone. So if I am trying to learn something, I discovered that spending the cash speeds up the process. If I am wasting my time, I find out quicker and move on.

I think the key here is to understand that for many (certainly for me) that free information you read is pretty much only half the battle. After all, what good is having information if you either don't know how to apply it or don't understand certain nuances, etc.

For example, I can find some great information on Adwords and PPC. In fact, I went through this years ago. I learned a lot from free and cheap courses. And then I went on to waste more time and money applying what I learned - very poorly.

When I was in a position to get coaching on the subject I learned a LOT more regarding subtleties of PPC, keywords, etc. and my cost per clicks went WAY down. And I learned more in a month from one person than a year of free/cheap do it yourself products.

Same with much of the rest of the I.M. niche as well. I learned a lot about affiliate marketing from courses but didn't really understand certain applications until I got a mentor/coach. Sometimes it's not a coach that is needed but perhaps just a higher end course that dives deeper into those subtleties.

In my opinion, if you are going to spend time learning something, spend it on finding out who is a good mentor that will fit your style and for a good price. Then make the leap.

Don't have cash? One thing I did (and after a while, I had people doing for me) is to offer your time/services to a successful marketer for free in exchange for mentoring. I had a lot of luck with that from Willie Crawford years ago (not so much worked for him as getting to know him and making a product together). I also worked for Mike Filsaime for 5 years officially and two years before that as a volunteer. I could fill a pool with everything I learned from that guy.

If you have to spend time, then find a way to make that time the greatest value to you - and if you intern, make it a value to them as well.

    Good luck and welcome back!

You are right - and you know it's true. Yet you are still looking for "courses". Others are suggesting "mentors" or memberships or more courses.

There is a defining moment for new marketers (or returning new marketers) - and that is when you realize you know enough NOW to get to work and start building your own online business/presence.

Don't be a perpetual student - use what you've learned. You'll make mistakes - big whoop. Learn to fix them and keep going.
