Looking for a Great Mentor!

Hey guys,

I am extremely interested into starting an online business. In the last couple of months, I have been doing a heavy amount of research in affiliate marketing and building an E-commerce website.

I have tried multiple campaigns on my own but have not seen any results. I NEED YOUR HELP!!!

If there is anyone willing to take the time to teach me and mentor me through the struggles of online marketing. I would really appreciate it.

At this time, I have no idea how and where to start. I have been reading the forums trying to get a better idea on how to do things the correct way, but have not succeeded yet.

I look forward to hearing from you, and I am willing to work really hard through the struggle!

Thanks!

Here's a very important concept in marketing...Your post is all about you. Most people don't care about you, they care about themselves and your post is very "me" orientated.

You need to learn to tell others what's in it for them, not what's in it for you. For example, instead of asking for a mentor, volunteer to be an intern. Offer to do the "grunt work" for a successful person.

You want someone to teach you and make you money and you aren't offering them anything in return. How about you offer to help someone with experience to make money in exchange for teaching you what you need to do?

Don't ask for someone to help you and talk about only yourself. Instead, tell us what you can do for us. In almost all cases in life (and business) you have to give before you can get.

This may sound harsh, but it's an important principle in marketing.

      Thanks for the great advice.

The post does not sound harsh at all. I strongly agree with you.

I really should consider what I can offer to others in exchange to have them be a Mentor.

Yep. I remember years ago I think it was jay Abraham who came up with it...WIIFM versus WIIFY.

The latter being Whats in it for You. Which was the route to go when approaching business and being successful.

        Hello discrat

Mentoring someone can have advantages. I found my mentor when I was 24, jus met him in a chatroom an found he was full time in IM an asked him to mentor me. At first he said he didn't have time except for a few chats, but I wore him down. He was a tough mentor an I had to trade hours of working for him too.

But eventually he adopted me as his Daughter, an my Daughter Sherri as his GrandDaughter. Since then we have built large IM Business's together.

He says I gave him the incentive to built these Business's, that he had no idea how expensive Daughters an GrandDaughters were, an the only reason he has to start more an more Business's each year is to keep up with how fast we spend his money. He has also said a few times that he had more money when he was broke, ie. before he met us, but all fibs! lol.

To find a mentor is hard, most people running full time Business's jus don't have the time available. WF is great to ask for advice, so a form of mentoring. Willie Crawford's offer would be great for the OP, as list building is the number one skill required for success in IM.

        Cheers
        Lindy

Isn't it a sad commentary on our world today that someone can't just sincerely ask for help without having to be concerned about what the helper might get out of it. Seems backwards to me based on how I was raised.

I've mentored lots of people in my profession without a single thought of what I might get out of it. If I were expert in what the OP wants to learn I'd happily offer my guidance and wisdom.

Surely someone is willing to give for the sake of giving without worrying about what they get out of it...

No, it isn't sad, it's reality, and this is Marketing 101. It's about getting results, not how we were raised.

But let's turn this around...how about offering to help instead of asking for help? Why is offering to help someone else such a "sad" thing?

They're two different things... irrelevant analogy.

In my world always wanting to get before you give isn't Marketing 101... it's selfish greed. I'm certain if the OP had some wisdom to share with someone who needed it they'd be happy to do so.

If you don't want to offer the OP a little guidance and wisdom that's fine. I'll keep right on coaching and mentoring where I'm needed and where I can.

You'd be amazed at the things that come back to you when you're willing to give back to those following the path behind you. The Universe always finds a way to pay you back for the kindness you do for others.

      Good point in some cases.

Sure, you can give tips here by posting comments on the forum without expecting anything in return, but mentoring someone completely for free...?

Especially considering how intensive and time consuming it can be to teach people a complete business in online marketing.

Also, from my own experience, when mentoring someone for free (such as a friend or family member) they will take it less serious. Often if someone pays a higher price for your mentoring/coaching, the more serious they will be and the chances of success are way higher. (Weeds out freebie seekers and tire kickers as well )

      Cheers,

      Reno

        Great point Reno.

I wouldn't mentor some as a private mentor for free. It's counterproductive. In my experience, a client who paid high figures for your private mentoring will put in more work than one who paid a low dollar fee or got free access.

Teaching things for free is great and I do that a lot...but to mentor someone for free? Time is the priciest commodity I know.

I devote a certain amount of my weekly schedule to doing just that. It's actually very rewarding. I do it because if someone hadn't done it for me I'd likely have never found my way to the success I've enjoyed for many years.

        I'm happy to do it!

One other thing to keep in mind when trying to barter your time for their help is that there are no borders with internet marketing. So anyone can go and hire a VA for a couple dollars per hour. This may make your offer far less appealing.

Another thing to consider is, would you walk into a highly successful brick and mortar business and ask the owner to do the same and say yes? If not, take into consideration that there is probably little difference between the two.

Granted online you probably have a better shot, but to "mentor" someone can be extremely time consuming. So it may not be very easy to find someone with the necessary experience that's willing to do it.

I'm certain that there are people willing to help you if it's clear that they are the right one to do so. That begins with you clearly defining what you need mentoring on.

What marketing model are you going to use?

What niche(s) are you thinking about entering?

    What is your ultimate goal?

How does a potential mentor know that he/she is not wasting their limited time working with you, instead of someone else... given that they can only effectively work with so many people one-on-one.

I'm actually getting ready to mentor several hundred people taking them step-by-step through building their first list of 2000, because I believe that no matter what business you are in online or offline your database is one of your most valuable assets.

I'm mentoring these people 100% free BECAUSE I'm creating a product in the process, once I show them how to do what I say I'm going to show them, I'll probably have close to 100 testimonials, and I'll make money on the back end.

There are people who will help you with no expectation of direct compensation. They understand that the more you give, the more you get, BUT they don't want to waste their time with someone who isn't 1000% committed and willing to do the necessary work!

You should insist on some GUARANTEES if you can PROVE that you actually DID what your coach told you to do.

This should quickly weed out the hucksters from the real players.

I find it a little funny offering to do work for someone who knows what they are doing because if I were the person who knows what they are doing why would I want someone to do work for me who doesn't know what to do or how to do it. What kind of results could I possibly get.

    Hey there,

While reading through your post, I remember how not long a go I went through the same struggles, trial and error that you're going through right now.

"A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor." - Franklin D. Roosevelt.
That's a nice quote that I had to share with you.

Now, I agree that having an online mentor will help you achieve success much faster (given that the guy teaching you has already achieved the kind of success you're trying to achieve) but posting a thread here on the forum and telling people that you're looking for a mentor will only get your inbox full with direct messages from lots of wanna-bee coaches.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that there aren't any good coaches here on the Warrior Forum, there are many.

Just look in the Warriors for hire section or use the search bar at the top.

Try to find a marketer you personally like and ask them if they can get on a short, get to know each other skype call with you so you can see the way they teach and if you're comfortable learning from them.

Don't rush things because finding the right mentor won't happen overnight. But if you keep looking, you may just find the one you're most comfortable learning from.

    Good luck!

    Leon.

Hi Mike thanks for the post and i completely agree

I have had massive struggles in my life upto the point I did quit everything and came back ,Through my learnings in these years i have realized ,Nothing comes for free ,You have to take massive action and find your own oppurtunity ,to be honest 15 months ago i never thought ,I would be here writing this but this is how life goes and things change ...

This is a quote that i learnt from mentor and i would like to share

This is the biggest secret I can possibly share with anyone.

Take Massive Action With A Passion!

Forget about Jargons like list building ,PPV ,cpc ,they are just names ,In simple words what is marketing whether offiline or online ,You just need to get people to see your stuff you r dealing with,,All those jargons will follow ,Just beleive in yourself first and things will come..

That was my secret for 2016

    Hey man,

I know how you feel... To many information and you don't know here to start right?

First of all, my humble advise to you is:

TAKE ACTION!!! Don't try to learn everything before starting. Just start and then you will learn.

I recomend for you to start a blog, and to build your list from the very beginning.

If you want a mentor, search for successfull internet marketers or bloggers, and try to offer some value to them and try to build a connection him them. Many of them will say no to you, but just don't give up and keep looking

And remember, you don't have to be great to start but you have to start to be great

    Good luck happykoala!!!

First: you need budget for your campaign. If you do not have it, you may try your best skills to get few dollars with Freelance site as Upworks, Fiverr (it will be lower than your offline salary)
Second: You have few dollars ($20-$100), you can find a suitable method for working. It can be Adsense, Clickbank, Amazon, CPA.
Third: Research and plan your goal, fill what you need to know. You can find all of this stuff in the internet with Google .

Fourth: learn and action together, you have basic knowledge, you can start with a domain, hosting, fill the content for your money site.

Try and find targeted traffic, it can from Social media, forum posting, blog comment and SEO.
You need to minimize the expenditure per month. When you make it success, you can scale it up by hire people as Upwork, Fiverr.

      Good luck.
