Hi im new here.

Forgive the silly question.

I selected my niche (dating) and now I want
to make a website and monetize selling affiliate products.

But what products Do you select , what criteria do u use to select the product to promote?: yo go for a bestselling click bank product? /Amazon product about dating?
You choose the highest paying commission product?

Or you do the opposite: you already know what product to promote and you create a website around that product?

Pls help me clarify this concept.

First I look at the sales page and evaluate it, I look for leaks, I also make sure it is not overly hyped. Then I buy the product and make sure the purchase process is simple and smooth. Finally I review the product to make sure it is a quality product

One can always skip the process of buying the product when starting out. You can use this simple strategy instead. Search for the product's name plus reviews and you will see what another affiliate who's bought the product has to say about it...

This way you can save some cash when you're just starting out...

Al, brings up on good point. For me if I see a Lander that has an optin form within , I usually stay away from it.

Unless it is just a magnificent Lander with a magnificent Product then I might consider it.

But no need to start off with a prospect who then becomes added to the vendor's list without even buying something

Basically, you need to get a product with the highest conversion rate. If it's converting very well, then it's making affiliates money.

Don't be deceived by the huge commission rates with little or zero conversions. If I were an affiliate, I will rather promote a $20 product that has 15% conversion rate than one sold for $100 with with 1% conversion rate. This mean out of every 100 visitors, you make 15 sales.

Also watch out for gravity if you're promoting CB products. I always advice my clients who are just starting out to promote CB products and add Amazon products to their funnel, down the road.

So I'd advice you start with promoting CB product with so many reasons. It's late here and the bed is calling out for me

    Good night.

I figure there are two ways of thinking:

    1) The purpose of my site is to make money
    2) The purpose of my site is to help solve a certain problem

I recommend you focus on #2. If your site actually solves a problem then it should be able to make money. Once you know what problem you are trying to solve everything becomes more clear. You can find people who have that problem (your market) and you can find solutions to the problem (your products).

I hope your niche is more specific than "dating".

For my own site the problem was "How do I find the X that's best for me?" and X became my niche. I actually had the problem myself and there was no site to solve it so I created one and it turns out lots of people have the same problem so now I'm getting over 1k visitors per day and earning over $2k per month from Amazon.

Thank you Shellick (and the others ) for your reply.
If i understand well the Amazon product you promote is resolving.the "A"problem for your visitors.
So what was your 1st step? The Amazon product or the problem you identified and wanted to resolve?

And why you choose that specific Amazon product among hundreds ( I can assume is
an info product)? Because its a best selling?
or you sell multiple Amazon products that can resolve the same problem?

My niche is dating and now I'm stuck with the decision if i should look at what best products are available or if i should first identify what is the problem to solve and THEN looking for a product.

Most of the times when i search for an affiliate product, it's usually after i don't have anymore backend products to promote to my customers. In short, i look for high commission rates, testimonials, purchasing the product myself to see how it works, and whether or not i get paid monthly for the recurring affiliate product sale.
