Do you hate web bots?

Do you guys hate web bots such as automatic backlink creators and social media followers and likers? I wonder what WF community think of these kind of softwares in general?

    If you are going down this path as a WSO this may help

        They were WF rules 9/10 most posts that asked a question about a product or what do people use they are going to put up a WSO , for the record me no hate them

    Bots are good if they help you be productive without spamming others

    Biggest problem with most bots is the spammers ruin them for being good,
    just look at what happens with blog commenting and bots

    Who in their right mind continues to post non related comments on blogs, and expect anything good to come out of it, but it happens every day

      Don't know. But the bot thing is interesting.

      Google hates bots.

      It's ironic that Google fights against automation like bots when all their profit relies on ever more efficient automation.

      But Google is important to a lot of Warriors, so what to do, eh?

        I don't hate bots in themselves. I have a serious dislike and disdain for those that use them to abuse other peoples' digital property.

        There was a recent thread (since nuked) where the poster bragged he was making money going to forums, creating multiple shill accounts to promote affiliate links. In other words, to run a con game on someone else's forum.

        I really hope that Dante got it wrong and there's another level of Hell for people that make and use tools for doing things like this.

        Bots killed Usenet.
        Bots killed Free for All pages.
        Bots killed Bum Marketing.

        I could go on, but you get the idea.

    It depends where they've been used and by whom. In the right hands web bots are priceless. However, these days too many 'kids' confusing the web and also people with them.

    I don't know who likes bots?

    I like certain scripts (such as url scrapers), but bots are typically designed to do BH things opposed to save time.

    The only kind of "bots" that i like are the Macros that i create in Microsoft Word. They do the task over and over for me in seconds that would literally take me 3 or more hours to complete manually.

    Everyone talks about bots as if a bot was some sort of an entity. You can not hate or like bots, they are not beings. Bots are just a few lines of code. There is nothing wrong with code.

    The issue is that there are good people and bad people. Some people do good things with code and some do bad things with it.

    Automated public web data extraction is very useful, when it's authorized and legal.
