Hello everyone,
I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask but I'm starting to build up a new blog and wanted to be successful with online marketing but I'm not sure where to begin.

I already own my own website JurgenDoe.com and started with some few blogs and where I can sell my paintings etc.

Mostly I wanted to make money with online marketing and being a affiliate to grow my business ... I can see a lot of scam outside who just want to take your money for giving your nothing or any help at all.

Where is the best place to look to get some nice affiliates?

Thanks for your help

Jurgen

    I just checked you website.

I have no idea what you are selling and what you can offer me, so I just ended up closing the page. I see that you talk about internet marketing, you sell paintings and wrote about travel...What is this blog exactly about?

If within 10 seconds someone does not know EXACTLY what value you can add in their life, they won't do business with you.

        Hi Jurgen!

I looked over your website and you have an extraordinary talent, and it digital painting is fascinating!

But you do need to harness your internet marketing skill to really take your business to another level.

First of all I amuses after viewing your site that your intention is to sell your paintings,

If that is the case then you should make it more clear to your visitors, I had to look around to really understand what the website was about and what your service is.

Also you need to stick to one subject and only write about that one subject.

If your intentions with the website is to sell your paintings, Than you need to have a website about arts and painting.

You can not write about unrelated subjects in your blog, because people will get confused.

The reason being is that a visitor who is looking for information about how to make money, or traveling will not be interested or even thinking about buying a painting.

What you want is to reach people who are looking for information about painting and arts, because those people will be 100 times more like to want to buy a painting form you.

Make it more clear, what you want people to do once they are at your website.

Your menu tabs and the content in them should state very clearly to the visitors of your website what this site is about and what this visitor is going to learn or get form exploring your website further. They need to understand what is in it for them, before they spend their time looking though your website.

If it is not this way people will get confused and just leave right away, because there are millions of other websites they can go to, to find what they are looking for.

The purpose of a website is to drive targeted visitors to your offer

So your website site should be simply, easy to understand and you should focus on producing content that someone who would buy a painting form you, would enjoy reading.

You can create courses that teaches people how to get started with Digital Painting and you can sell that as a product in your newsletter series.

You can write blog post about different artist, and about news in the Digital Painting world so you can keep your readers up to date on the newest technology.

As your site grow you can review different digital painting products and make videos on YouTube where you put your affiliate links to them.

There are lots of things you can do but just remember stick to one subject, write for your Target Audience (The type of people who would buy a painting from you) and make your website easy to understand and to navigate.

        Hope that helped!

Thank you very much .. I guess this helps a lot .. I'll have to reorder my web content and menu to just one thing about paintings. Any idea or suggestions how it should look like for the visitor .. I just started and need some serious input in how I can approve in this matter.
          Thanks for the clear answer

Might want to use the Quote button so people can tell who you're talking to.

First, change the title of your blog.

Artist, Painter, Affiliate Maker? No. Be ONE THING to people so they can identify you.

Your being an artist has nothing to do with affiliate marketing. Unless you plan to focus on affiliate products revolving around artistry.

Your banner...why do I care about Steve Jobs quotes?

Now it's about travel? Vacation? I'm so confused.

What is this place? I'm gone. Click.

Get a title in the top of the screen so we know where we're at and why.

Pick a topic and stick to it.

What problem do you want to solve for people? Your offers should revolve around that.

Vacations are fine. Now what can you do to help people plan, book, and take their vacations?

What content could you provide that would warm them up for doing so?

Why should they return to your blog?

What will they get from signing up for your newsletter?

Why here, and not somewhere else?

Answer these questions before you produce more content. That way you'll get on course and stay on course. Right now it's all over the place.

I don't see much difference. The Art by Jurgen thing looks nice, but all the other vacation etc. things stand out in weird contrast to it.

It seems you have skipped the "pick the niche" step and gone straight to the "implement the technology" step. That's the main problem here.

The sidebar is just advertising and I will build it up with the right one about painting ... dunno what you mean with niche .. I'm new and really don't know anything about it. I deleted all the posts who didn't had anything to do with art and just added only my art in the menu bar

Jurgen, the main reason why most experienced warriors don't like 'vague' questions like this is because the people who usually ask them, don't usually stick around long in IM.

I read your about me page and is seems like you are chef.

    Do you love cooking?

If so, then maybe the best way to get started is by structuring your blog around the cooking industry.

Monetize around cooking products and maybe even write your own ebooks.

Put some good content about cooking (and keep adding more content daily or even weekly).

WARNING: The cooking niche seems very 'competitive' nowadays but come to think of it, so does every other niche. There are billions of people in the world and more and more are coming online every single day.

However, if you add lot's of value (like you spoke about in your article about adsense and list building), you won't have to worry about competition.

Lastly...Stay away from any short cuts like fake back links or face book likes ECT.

If you want to become successful in IM and affiliate marketing, it takes hard work, consistency and determination.

You can do it (if you are not lazy)!

As a chef I sure love cooking but I also love painting and try to sell my art online. I guess before I add another topping about cooking I'll just inform people about art first.

I don't understand staying away from short cuts like fake back links or face book likes ECT .. what exactly do you mean .. as you see I'm a newbie and have to learn a lot.

Well I'm not lazy and want to be successful in what I'm doing and I'm thankful for every tip I can get .. that's why I got the information about this forum and I think it will help me a lot sticking around here

    Hi,

Your website needs a good makeover as it looks really dull.

Just purchase some real amazing themes from Envato Market first.

After that go for an authentic logo design from a professional using http://www.fiverr.com for just $5.

Once done you are all set to write articles and promote all over Social Media.

Finally, apply for Google Adsense or Yahoo Advertisers program to monetize your site.

    Good luck!

Logos I can make on my own since I use Photoshop very well
I sure will write articles and promote them on social medias as soon I get the site done

I had Google adsense and I'm not happy with it at all .. the crap was all over my site and it took almost 4 minutes to load and I didn't like the banners or the look of it.
The look of the site was horrifying with Google Adsense

    OK, let me be blunt.

Good artists are not that uncommon. It is pretty and everything but there are many people who can do that.

The only way to differentiate yourself is through positioning. This means appealing to a specific niche and excelling there. Trying to be everything for everyone is just another way to compete with tens of thousands of other people who are doing this.

There is a major difference between what constitutes value for you and what constitutes value in the marketplace. Many people where say that your drawings are great. Yes, I think they are awesome. But this doesn’t mean that I’ve ordered any.

However, when I’ve discovered a drawing by a rather obscure painter who was featured into a music video, I was interested in buying it right away. $3000 for a print from a limited series. Why? Because it was unique and different. It was abstract. It made sense to me and I knew that it could only grow in value. He wasn’t trying to be nice. He was trying to be unique. 9 out of 10 people would have considered that ugly abstract crap. I’ve found it beautiful.

The same thing when I’ve discovered a very nice photography print when I’ve took some photos in a studio once. It simply caught my attention. It was 500 EUR. I haven’t bought it in the end since someone offered more than that but it was UNIQUE. It was a nude, in B&W, in a huge frame. The kind that you don’t see anywhere.

And now let’s come back to you. If I buy a print from Game of Thrones, will this make me feel unique and special? Will this get people to say WOW when they come into my house? Chances are, no. These things are cute but that’s about it for them.

    But …

You are talented. So you can create interesting stuff too. Think about that. Think of what your market wants. Start there. Don’t create something and hope people will buy it. Look at what people are already buying.

Marketing of art is rather an complex field and it is focused more on reputation and abstract perception than anything else. Be a bit strange. Be a bit weird. Be unique or at least, different. The world will not beat a path to your door if you invent a better mousetrap … but they will if you invent a trap that is highly desired by your target niche.

    Best regards,
    Razvan

A lot of the answers here by fellow Warriors already offer an in-depth review.

But here are my literal two cents:

0.01 : Your artwork is fascinating. You could make more money just by focusing on that.

0.02 : The moment I saw banner ads, affiliate links, etc., I couldn't take you seriously as an artist b/c it looks like you're desperate enough to make extra money that you need to advertise other people's stuff... so then my perceived value of your artwork, which I initially thought was fascinating, has diminished.

Do you mean I should clear the sidebar advertising out and just focus on art advertising?
I sure will do this because I need to focus on my art and selling art

        YES!

You have to decide what this website means for you. You can start a separate website and just promote affiliate programs. If you focus on just selling art here, fill your website and blog up with art content (tips and articles on buying art, etc.). That creates a very focused channel where customers will either buy art or leave.

Don't worry about not appealing to people who don't want to buy art. Your efforts should focus on getting the attention of people who do want to buy art.

But, I'm sure you already know this, people who buy art don't want to be distracted by little tile ads trying to sell them other stuff.

Think about it this way -- what will put more in your pocket, somebody buying art from this website, or someone clicking on one of these small tile ads?

You have to decide what this website means for you. You can start a separate website and just promote affiliate programs. If you focus on just selling art here, fill your website and blog up with art content (tips and articles on buying art, etc.). That creates a very focused channel where customers will either buy art or leave.

Thank you John ... you're right about this .. I'm trying to sell art and will stick with it .. as artist that is my main focus and I already deleted the little tiny apps in the sidebar and only will fill it up again what has to do with art.
I just need to focus on the first step . .I'm not a big writer and english isn't my native language so I might have a bit problems with that but I'll work on it

"Art" is still a very broad subject. A niche would be a subset of art.

For example, you are displaying digital art, as opposed to watercolors, oil paintings, even sculpture. But just looking over your slide show, you subject matter is all over the place. From fantasy worlds to TV shows to wildlife to pets and portraits. There is no focus.

If I had your skills and talent, I'd pick one subject or two at most. For me, that would probably be something like fish (ala Guy Harvey) and tropical/beach scenes. In addition to prints, you could offer wearable art, much like Harvey does.

In addition, I'd offer the portraits (both people and pets) as a higher end offer since they would be both custom and one-off sales for the most part.

For an "art" blog/site you are still way off.

WARNING: I'm about to get down right critical here. It is not about your art, but about your site.

So, I'm going to ask you first before going further. How may other sites have you researched to see that are selling art - exactly how they are doing it?

Theme is all off. Get rid of the adsense. Sell the ART.

You can start another site to sell affiliate stuff if you want. But right now that site is so off.

I know I'm still off because I tried to finish my site first. I looked at least 3 sites and one of them made a setup like I have to make portraits or pet paintings .. the other ones had paintings all over to sell .. not very specific

I already removed all this stuff from my widget and the post I totally forgot but it is removed now. will work more on it .. dunno what kinda theme I should use ... most themes I see are way off and I don't like them

The point wasn't that you should paint fish. The point was to pick one subject to focus on and do that. If it isn't fish, maybe it's landscapes. Or big cats (I saw a tiger among your thumbnails). Pick something and work to become known for that thing.

I only offered up Guy Harvey as an example because I'm a fan of his art and he has the niche marketing thing nailed.

I'm saying that you have two different markets.

The first is people who want original artwork to decorate a space. Could be interior designers. Could be DIY (Do It Yourself) home decorators. Or a mix of both.

The second is people who want an heirloom or a permanent reminder of a lost pet. These are the people who will pay good money for your portraits. And where some of the bigger dollars will come from.

Say you can sell your art prints for $50. You could probably ask $250 to $500 for a custom portrait.

I see what you mean .. I already changed the layout and and will make it more clear for custom portrait about animals and portrait. I also changed where you just can buy art .. take a look and let me know if I'm going in the right direction

I think you are definitely headed in the right direction.

Here's what I would do next if it was my site...

                      > Lose the calendar in the right column and replace it with an offer of some sort. Maybe a "print of the month" or something.

                      > Figure out something to offer as an incentive to joining your list. Maybe a digital wallpaper type offer of one of your paintings people could use on their computer or phone as a background. Get creative. That's what you do.

                      > Approach an interior designer with a blog, preferably a popular blog, about writing one or more guest posts about using art images in decorating. Maybe more than one designer.

Beyond the website, I'd maybe set up a fan page where people could post photos of their rooms with your art on display, suggest subjects for you, etc.

Do you have an editorial calendar (a list of topics you want to post to your blog or newsletter)? What were you planning to send to people who do join your list?

                      Keep the momentum going...

Thank you John .. this are great tips and I'll go with them ... have to use a sidebar editor to give a free wallpaper of the week or month ... I also decided to use a static page as homepage where I always will change the offer I'll give to people for free

Need to find a interior designer or more .. do you know where to look for them who have a great blog?

I do not have a editorial calendar .. is there a plugin for this ?

Finding good blogs for any topic, my first stop is alltop.com. Just put your keyword ("interior design" or "home decorating", etc.) in the search bar.

As for an editorial calendar, you don't need a plugin. This is a document you use to plan content in advance. For example, if you had a food blog you might plan special content for food-centric holidays like New Years, Superbowl Sunday, Valentine's Day, etc.

For your business, it might be more like wedding portraits in June (most popular wedding month), Mother's Day, Father's Day, etc.

While a simple text document can work, I prefer a spread sheet listing the content idea, target date, who is responsible, date published.

You're looking for blogs/bloggers whose style resonates with you and who sound like they know their stuff. Once you've found someone (and it may even be a guest blogger), check to see if they guest post on other blogs or websites.

You're looking for people to approach about guest blogging on your site.

Your editorial calendar is just for you, at least for now. If you grow your blog with guest writers, you can share the calendar with them so they can plan their submissions.

                              It's a planning tool.

    Hi,
wow I just had a look at your site and it looks excellent! You have been building up your social media accounts and your posts look great!

Anyways, what I would highly recommend and this is FREE is to go and checkout Warriorplus. They are an affiliate network, but you can find many FREE products there. The FREE products usually have FREE written in their titles. You can learn loads from these products and the best part is that they are FREE! You will be learning without spending any money!

Depending on the experience gained you will know what direction you want to go to.

Great art by the way (I really liked the one with the tiger drinking from the pond)!

Hope I could help out! If you got any question just reply and I will try to get back as soon as possible! You can do it!
    Stay awesome!

In order to be successful and make money online, you either need to A) become an authority or big presence in something or B) get targeted traffic

When just starting out, your only option is B because becoming an authority takes years.
