Hi video experts,

I have video tutorials I'd like to sell on CD-Rom. They were made with camtasia so I have a bunch of choices for producing them.

I've been researching this and it seems that quicktime (MOV) will play on both mac and PC, but the viewer will have to have quicktime installed. So I'm not sure that's the best format for me.

I've also heard AVI might work, but I'm not sure why it's just a might.

I was really hoping to gain some advice on what the best format for making a CD is and if there's a best format that will play on both mac and PC.

I have seen that you can't get autoplay to work on mac which should be fine as I'm assuming mac owners will know how to get it started. I'm also thinking about having professional menus created for each and not sure if that needs to be in a certain format as well. If you offer services for CD authoring and mastering, then please PM me as I'm currently searching for a multimedia designer on a job board and will definitely consider warriors as well.

Thanks,

Lisa

I am far from a video expert but I would have thought selling video on CD is kind of aoutdated; except on ebay: they no longer alow digital sales so alot if information product creators now sell on cd instead of just pdf.

      Chris,

You can make a lot more money selling a training course put on CD as a physical product than selling it online as an ebook, etc...

Whether ebay or not, it's a great way to get more money for the same amount of work it took you to put the info together.

    Hey Lisa,
As far as I know, .wmv format will play on both PC and MAC (even though its a crappier format thank .mov)
.mov is better, but you do need quicktime (which is free).

oh, and yes, if you can get videos delivered in CD, you have a much higher percieved value, not not mention a MUCH lower refund rate (since they have to return the item at their expense).
    Hope that helps.
