Hi guys,

Just wondering if anyone can recommend any good resources on how to properly promote affiliate programs and the disclosures you need on your site to make sure you avoid legal trouble.

Any advice/suggestions would be highly appreciated!

Thankyou.

Hey settle pettle , he did answer the first part of the question you asked

The rest you have to research yourself as asking others will just make it worse with the answers you get some good some crap.

Your suggestion is completely unrelated to my question.

If you're looking for legal advice, you should consult a professional for the jurisdiction where your business is based or seeking to trade. However, the FTC has issued guidelines for anyone engaged in endorsements or affiliate marketing in the US. You can find details here:

Forgive me because this is "self promotional" but my handbook might be helpful to you. Disclosures are covered as well as other important laws and regulations which affect affiliate marketers. There's a link to the handbook in my signature if it interests you.

Impossible to give good advice without knowing where you live. However, if you live in the US the FTC guidelines are a good starting point. I found a presentation that sums up some of the main points: slideshare.net/affsum/9b-7legalpitfallsaffiliatemarketersshouldavoid-15954175

    Hello Chini,

First, if you are going to do affiliate marketing and will be recommending product(s) to your affiliate page, you are required by the Federal Trade Commission to post a "Disclosure of Material Connection" on your website and or affiliate page in a clear and conspicuous spot.

You can download a free "Disclosure of Material Connection" here.

Here are some free publications that you should find helpful doing business on the Internet.

It is also a good idea to have specific disclaimers if you are promoting health, fitness, or self-help books.

Before starting any Internet business, understand what is legally required of you.

Feel free to contact me if you have any other questions.

    Good luck.
