Need advice on how to use a wordpress theme...

Hi everyone!

I have the project of using a wp whitelable plugin (which is in fact a theme that allows to build wp drag and drop websites) and I would like to sell the right to use this software to général public in a subscription like fashion...

I thought I could build a site which would be subscription based but I'm not quite sure how to go about this...

I hope it's not to confusing and someone can help!

Kind regards,

do you have the rights to sell this theme/plugin?

Will you be providing support to your customers?

Will you be updating this theme/plugin whenever WP does an update?

    • Hi! Yes I own the rights to resell the plugin and the updates will be provider by the original inventor and I will be able to provide support with the help of his own support...

I would sell it as a one off purchase. Unless this theme/plugin is really something special, and I really doubt it is or it would not be provided as a white label theme, why would anyone want to pay a monthly fee to use it.

    • I understand... But if I would like to go ahead with this idea anyway, not from a marketing point of view but with the ''technical'' aspect in mind...

How does my website should be built in order to make subscriptions possible for users to use the plugin to build their site?

You'll need to use some type of membership software - there are themes that have this integrated, and there are plugins you can use, as well, that offer this functionality.

The membership script will need to integrate with your payment processor, and offer a subscription-type model.

You'll either have to make sure that your members are removed (and license to the theme in question revoked) if they decide to cancel their subscription, which can be done manually, or is sometimes a feature of the membership script.

Of course, this requires a licensing script for the theme, itself, so that canceling members can no longer use the theme.
