Can I get a trusted Warrior who is a PRO at Wordpress to help FAST?

11 replies
I built a site for my local church. I used wordpress and the Revolution Church Theme Anyway, There was a problem with the transfer or something.

Could some one PM me or add me to Yahoo messenger real quick and tell me what I did wrong? Even if I have to pay...I did the site for free, but I want to get it straightened out.

Thanks A LOT!!!!!!

One of the problems is, when I try to upload a picture within the post, it says
Unable to create directory

That was the domain I built the site on, before moving it to it's new domain

    You need to change the permissions of the upload directory/folder to make it writable (777). You can change in cPanel or FTP.

    Also as well as the file permissions that the settings know where the site is located

    Added:

    Go into settings, general
    WordPress address (URL)
    Blog address (URL)

    and check your "Miscellaneous Settings" for the uploads location

  • Will that also make the PLUGINS work. They dont seem to work, either.

      Now I get this error with a plugin that was active during transfer. I upgraded the plugin. When I deactivated the plugin, the whole site quit working!
      This is what I get now that the plugin has been updated:
      Warning: include(/home/clergy12/public_html//wp-content/plugins/content-gallery/gallery.php) [function.include]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/clergy12/public_html/wp-content/themes/church_20/home.php on line 7

      Warning: include() [function.include]: Failed opening '/home/clergy12/public_html//wp-content/plugins/content-gallery/gallery.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/clergy12/public_html/wp-content/themes/church_20/home.php on line 7
      In your WP theme editor, go to the home.php section and look for this code:

      Code:
      <?php include (ABSPATH . '/wp-content/plugins/featured-content-gallery/gallery.php'); ?>
      The older Church themes hadd the code as:
      Code:
      <?php include (ABSPATH . '/wp-content/plugins/content-gallery/gallery.php'); ?>
      Notice the featured- that is missing.

      When the content gallery was updated, it changes file names, so add the featured- into the line of code and refresh the page.

    Did all the files get transferred across? Make sure you do not have any showing 0 bytes as the file size also. Seems like it is looking for something that isn't there (although it is late and I have run out of coffee, could be something else, heh)

    Charles:

    Use your ftp program and remove the plugin. Go to the plugin area of Wordpress and download the plugin onto your hard drive if you haven't already (I have a folder called "Plugins" that I hide mine in ;>). Unzip it, then use your ftp program to upload the unzipped plugin into the wp-content>plugins folder. Once done back out of the plugins folder to the wp-content folder and create a folder called "gallery" (in your case, it looks like it might need to be called "content-gallery"). Change the permissions for the gallery folder to 777. Go back into Wordpress admin and activate the plugin.

    For some reason Wordpress doesn't create a few of the folders it needs (uploads, updates and gallery for example). They all go into the wp-content folder and all need permissions set to 777.

    NOTE: I have found it much easier to upload all of the plugins via ftp as I am uploading the wordpress program, theme(s) and configured wp-config. You can get everything done at once that way. Then, install WP, enter the admin, change the password and activate your theme and plugins at one time. Much quicker.

    Hope this helps. If you need more info or want some help, pm or email me.
