Additional ways to drive traffic to my blog post?

Hello! I'm brand new to this forum. I wrote my first blog and posted its link to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and related LinkedIn Groups. I emailed it to our company's dist list. I posted it on Quora. I am not getting many views or conversions. I thought this forum would be a good place.

Are there proper places (free) where I can place the link to increase traffic here on WarriorForum somewhere, or any other forums, websites, social media sites?

Thanks for your input, and I hope to be able to share back soon.

Hi, you can try add on Instagram account to drive traffic to your blog also. Instagram is having a lot of traffic as many people are using it in their daily life after Facebook. Another place you can try is submit your blog to online press release such onlineprnews website.

    Welcome to the forum!

Quick question: are you posting links in places where people are interested in the topic? If not, you won't get a large response.

Posting links all over the place isn't a very effective strategy. Your links need to be targeted to people who have an interest in your subject. For example, if your website promoting a book about dog training (for example), you'll want to post links in places where people are interested in dogs - like Facebook groups dedicated to dogs. Just make sure you follow the rules of the community your posting in.

As far as Twitter goes, it can be hit or miss. Generally, I've found it to be a good place to boost my own brand, but a bad place to drive traffic to my site. There was a study done not too long ago that found that even people with tens of thousands of followers had extremely low click-through rates.

The best advice I can give is make sure you're targeting the people who will be interested in what you're offering. Otherwise, it's like flinging mud at the wall and hoping something sticks.

Brad has a very good point. You need to target your audience (like everything else in marketing). Besides that, you can interest influential bloggers within your niche. If the article is good and professional enough, they might share it with their audience. Also, do not forget people in the real world (especially if it's a commercial blog). We sometimes forget how important and influential our neighbors, clients and visitors may be.

You could try Google+ as well.. how many friends/followers do you have on Facebook/Twitter? Another way to increase your traffic would be to increase your audience (get more friends/followers)

How much time has passed since you wrote your first post?
I suppose you also did some on page SEO.
Give it time, usually these things take time, you won`t see visitors come over night unless you will invest in a PPC campaign.
Use this time to educate yourself. You have come to the right place to learn all the things you need.

      • I posted the blog on January 11, 2016. Yes I did some SEO for it. I will not obtain the thanks button until I post 5x acc to the FAQ page.

Exactly what I thought. Your blog is still young. Give it time and because of your SEO the organic traffic will increase over time.
People above also pointed a good theory. Maybe your social media audience is not targeted.
How did you obtain your followers?

Hello Nicole, well, what is your target actually? To bring readership to your blog or to a website through it? I think it would be very important to know your niche of readers and simply try to keep it on track with that one theme that made them interested in the first place. If you speak about your favorite food, ugly sneakers and cute pets it might become confusing. Let us know how it goes

From reading your post I guess your blog is new? Give it some time, if it's quality content Google will automatically rank your article for the topic you're targeting. Other then that you can always drive traffic from Instagram or maybe by posting links on social websites?

You can try some other different traffic sources, like Pinterest, Tubmlr, Blog commenting, Guest post, other forums related to your niche.

You said "my first blog post" well you can't expect having a lot of traffic with a new blog, just be an active member and be social, traffic will come. Offer great value, if you can provide value traffic will be there for sure, they love great content and also Google will rank you up because they also love great content.

For the Warrior Forum, you can add your website to your sig. That way, it will show up under every post you make.

Beyond that, targeting your audience properly is half the battle when promoting a blog post. The other half is giving them a good reason to stop what they are doing and click over to your blog. Just posting "here's my new blog post [link]" isn't going to cut it until after you have built an audience, and even then giving a reason to click through is more effective.

Unless you are already a "name" in your market, it takes time to build an audience. Fortunately, that audience growth tends to follow a power curve (like the 80/20 rule or those compound interest graphs you see on investing sites). Keep plugging away at it. Expecting huge results from one post and one link drop after only a couple of weeks is unrealistic.

One more thing Nicole. While waiting for your traffic to increase you should add more posts to your blog.
When are you planing on making your next post?

        LOL.
Slow down cowboy. Don't get overly enthusiastic there. Be a little more subtle and you will be fine

Great! Try to build a pattern. Post each week on the same day and at the same hour in order to better build your audience. This way your followers will know when to expect your new posts.
