Article Marketing % click through

I am about to start doing some article marketing and I am wondering what is an average click through rate back to my site?

I know a call to action will increase my click through rate but is there any other ways to encourage click through to my site?

Thanks
-Nick

You'll get a wide range of replies to your question about the average CTR. I'm in a lot of niches and I know a thing or two about article marketing, and I can tell you that it varies a LOT. It's the nature of the beast. I've seen as much as 40% CTR in some niches, and as low as 5% in others.

Here's what I would say are the 3 essentials for getting as high a CTR as possible:
    1. Blend the end of your article into your resource box. The idea is for the resource box to appear as though it's part of the article, not a separate section.
    2. In the resource box, give readers an explicit and strong call to action. People like to be told (as long as it's not rude) what to do next.
    3. Also in the resource box, focus on benefits for the reader, not features of your offer. Appeal to their desire to get something they want and need.

    Hope it helps!

Thanks for the tips. I wrote one article for a "just for fun" site and I got a 4% CTR. I didn't have a strong call to action and the topic wasn't really something people would want to know more about. (I was basically just trying to get backlinks.)

I was hoping that with a strong call to action and an article that leaves people wanting to know more the CTR would be higher.

It depends very strongly on the niche, but of course you can improve your CTR by optimizing your resource box. NEVER end your article at the end of the article, or people might not even look at your resource box. It's always a good idea to blend the resource box with the article, like Zeus99 said.

Another point is that the content of your article really affects the CTR as well. Unfortunately I can't generalize it like "better content means higher CTR". If you give out lots of information in the article, the reader might think that's enough info! For example, let me give you an example of one of the niches I'm in:

It's a health niche and the product (and website) I am promoting is "get rid of your condition with home remedies" type. I have approx. 50 articles on this niche and based upon my experiences I can say the following:

    - If I give 2-3 such home remedies in my article, the CTR is %20-25
    - If I give no remedies at all, but talk about why home remedies are superior to other methods (such as prescribed drugs), my CTR is about %60.

So unfortunately it's not always "if you give the best info, you will make the best money"; at least when it comes to article marketing.

I've noticed that the LESS info you give the higher the click through rate is in most cases. Don't give them any tips they can try themselves and remind them of the problem they are having and why it sucks. They will be more likely to click on the resource box to see what your "solution" is since you did nothing but remind them of how bad their problem is.

        Let's look at the maths:

        37,850 clicks / 181,658 views = 20.8% click thru rate

That's about double what I get at EZA!

Do you have any resources you have put together on article marketing/EZA?

No. I have not put together any resources together on article marketing or any kind of marketing for that matter. You don't need any ebooks or courses. All the information you need is here. You spend a couple of days of reading about article marketing and how capture your reader/customer. Give them good content where they can learn. And give them a reason to click your link. But most of all get articles out there. The more articles you have the more money and traffic you will get. And the better you will become at writing better articles and resource boxes.

        Does this mean good news?

So with 10 articles, do you actually earning more than $500 per month or higher? It is OK if you don't want to expose your earning ..Just asking out of my curiosity.

Enthrall your reader to reach your clicking point. Put themon the edge of a clif when reading, you'll get a better CTR.

We all wish don't we, it seems that with article marketing clickthroughs depends on the niche and also depending on the resource box layout i.e is there a pic.. isn't there a pic.. is it ezine articles, is it go-articles etc etc..

Clickthoughs to be perfectly honest are poor in my opinion.

Wow, I need to take a 2nd look at EZA resource box writing. I have a number of articles there with CTR's ranging from 5-20%, averaging at just over 10%.

My new efforts on Squidoo are proving more worthwhile. Brand new there but from a few hundred views my articles are getting a CTR of 30% and a new attempt at an early call to action (in the intro) has hit 50% from its first 100 views.

Need to sit my arse down, get writing and test things properly
