Autoblogging in 2016. Thoughts?

I know autoblogging is kind of taboo here in WF, but I think some will still agree that it creates albeit minimal value to Internet users. Hope this thread can be good resource for enthusiasts.

A bit of background: I've dabbled in autoblogging since 2013, but didn't intensely go after creating a network of autoblogs until 2014, where I made it the center of my thesis for my MBA. I called it an experiment in low cost information brokerage in today's growing digital market, and generated $6K while I was at it (traffic source? believe it or not, from SEARCH only! not a PBN.). Obviously I passed, since it seemed like a strategy that can be reproduced.

After graduating, I left the autoblogs and focused on my professional career in IT, got a few promotions there, and then got back to autoblogs where I did stupid things and got my network deindexed in 2015 (experimented with subdomains and mass installed plugins). But yes, the autoblogs lasted a FULL YEAR.

So, I know that autoblogs still work on the big G. I'm not keen on spilling my strategy here, but I just want to let those still interested in "low cost information brokerage" (LOL) aka autoblogs know that the things works and generates revenue as long as you have a sound strategy (i.e., make sure you deliver some sort of value to readers).

I haven't seen fresh topics here on autoblogging since 2014 ish and would like to hear some successes, maybe even useful tips, even sustainable strategies (that won't reveal too much!) in developing autoblogs in 2016. As for me, I quit my job, and I'm on track to setup 50 autoblogs by mid Feb. Nobody knows what I do, since autoblogging definitely raises eyebrows, I just tell people I earn from sales commissions online.

Got links to keywords where these autoblogs are ranking?

The last time I tried they got hit with a "pure spam penalty" within 14 days, or the sites just sank and stayed at 0 search traffic.

I'm curious to know what you're doing different.

Hmm can't reveal much (you know how it is T_T) but let's just say I avoid evergreen topics like the plague, no way it will rank vs established trusted players. I think the key to autoblog success is always fresh exciting things to talk about. But even evergreen niches may also have some cutting edge stuff to talk about -- I'm in fact experimenting on a couple. The hard part is finding workable content sources for any topic. There are tons around, just gotta find them, you'd be surprised.

My autoblogs usually stew for about 15-20 days then start generating revenue (as in Adsense revenue).

If you're generating them automatically, send me the link to 1. It will take you, what, 15 minutes to rebuild it?

I'm trying to see how you're pulling it off with the search engines.

I already know about using autoblogs to build up quick communities you can use for paid traffic.

If you're pulling it off with the search results, I want to know what I could have done wrong.

I know for a fact that an autoblog based on search traffic isn't going to generate some mind blowing numbers, so it's not like you're protecting a $100,000 a year site.

And they're quick to launch, as you've said, so what's the issue in sharing one?

I want to be proven wrong, because autoblogging is something I've messed around with quite a bit, and if it can be made to bring in search traffic, I want to see it.

I've tried a few different ways, and without fail, the "pure spam warnings" and zero search traffic happened to every single one.

How about this. You show me yours, I'll show you mine. I'll show you a site making $3,000 a month right now.

It's not an autoblog, but it doesn't matter -- I want to see how you're pulling this off in the SERPs.

I have around 30 auto-blogs running at the moment (aside from my Non Auto-Blogs).

None of the 30 are getting any signficant traffic from the SERPs, although most are well-aged, some dating back 4 or 5 years.

The traffic they do get, which is not breathtaking, is from setting them up to send out their auto posts to Twitter, StumbleUpon, LinkedIn, Tumblr, etc. which can be done using WP plug-ins or by using sites like IFTTT dot com or Dlvr.it

Cool! Just curious, are you in evergreen niches or more seasonal topics?

The best way to succeed with an autoblog is to forget all about search engines. Have the site auto-publish while you work on building an audience around it. Social media, Facebook groups, and so on.

Agree. You don't need to use auto blog plugin or anything. Just copy any duplicate content from other sites and put noindex, nofollow tag into the post. Your visitors will find the content useful but Google won't penalize your website. However, keep in mind that you might face copyright claim by the content owner.

Nice to see validation of autoblog traffic from social media. I have a couple of properties that are deindexed and are getting a little traffic from social media, but not enough to make good dollars. Having a tough time with targeting

I know some killer strategies that still work, but I'm not telling anyone. As soon as a group of IMers get hold of anything, they destroy its effectiveness from abusing the method.

That's why you don't see much discussion about it now. It's foolish to discuss it. Keep it to yourself and carry on.

Good to see some validation. Thanks, and definitely agree. No revelation as anyone can reverse engineer anything on the web

So your model is price arbitrage thru ads? Or more of commission/sales? Afraid to try this with adsense since it's explcitly against TOS
