Hmm.. First of all I would start with skills Web design or graphic design are very popular in freelance world so there are many talented people already involved in this. Personally I think you should work on your skills as much as possible, than try to look for first/second/... job on freelance communities or business oriented communities. Then, when you have something to show in portfolio start building our brand via personal website and perhaps social media.

      Cheers

This is one of those times I really should be using a speech to text software as this could be a really long post.

But I'll toss you a quick overview of how I'd proceed personally.

And I'll use your current model you have in your sig file.

Some things will vary depending on where you live as well.

So you want to get into the ebook cover business?

        1. Make yourself a quick business plan.

You'll want to set some goals in this and a clear idea of what services you are going to provide - but I'd be sure to specialize in one thing.

You can do all kinds of graphics obviously if you know how to make these covers, but specialize in making the covers.

In this plan, you are going to decide how you are going to market your services. You need to determine if you actually have a budget and what that budget is.

If you have no funds to start this, then you are going to need to do something to get those funds.

For this particular business, this can be stupid easy.

Ebook covers are needed by people here on this forum for example.

You offering to do some "free" ones is fine - if you request a review in exchange.

Collect your samples you create and reviews, and you could go post this service on fiverr in a heartbeat.

Now you can get 3 dollars and change profit for each one you do - which can be saved up for now growing your plan.

Either use the funds to pay for a highly targeted advert (like here on the forum) where you can decide if you want to start charging more, and/or get your own website set up where you can show your portfolio on how you specialize in this but also list some additional services.

Get yourself set up with a way to get paid.

Take some time to also look at other service providers on the web who are doing the same thing and go poke around on their sites to see how you can stand out from them.

Anyway that is a quick run.

You will get the most out of studying others who may have a close to what you want to do thing going on.

If your looking to get your foot in the door and start making a name for yourself here are a few steps.

    1) Create your own professional website that will blow your potential customers way. ( No one wants to hire a web designer with a crappy website or no site at all)

    2) Build a portfolio customers always want to see sample work of sites in their niche

    3) Start locally using bing ads there cheaper than google ads

    4) Get post cards and send them to places like salons and other small business that are in need of websites.

    5) Stay positive and believe in yourself and your dream!

    6) Never stop learning!

    Hope this was helpful

The most important thing is to get clients and especially their positive feedback so join freelancing sites, such as upwork.com. The clients might have more work for you in the future or know someone who could use your services. That's how you organically grow your business.

      1) Have a website that you can promote

      2) Have a work portfolio so that you can show potential clients examples of your work

      3) Join job sites such as upwork, freelancer etc...

      4) warriors will always need some design work whether it is webdesign, logo design or ebook cover design.

BUT, another way you could get clients is by doing tutorials on youtube. It will build your credibility and the people who are looking for tutorials designs might be newbies trying to save money by doing it themselves.

I found my web developer because he did youtube tutorials. Helping someone out goes a long way.

Putting up a website is not the problem.

    The problem is getting CLIENTS.

There are several levels of clients.

Make sure you are clear as to which level you'll focus on.

If you just starting out then I recommend going for freelance site to begin with.

      Here are some good once.

      -Fiverr (my favorite)
      -Odesk
      -freelance

this way you can sell your services and begin working with people without having to drive traffic to a website.

Once you have worked with a couple of clients then you can move on to creating your website.

By that time you would have build up a couple of reviews form fiverr, (Social Proof)

and if you did a good job then you will have some repeat clients that can get you more clients.

      Hope that helped
