Using YouTube Screenshots in Long Form Blog Post - Risks?

If I write a very thorough how-to post (around 4k words) on a topic and use a few YouTube screenshots and gifs in the post to drive some of the points home, am I violating any rules?

I'm a little unclear because from some posts I've read it sounds like you can use YouTube content in a blog post as long as the post provides additional information. But others have said this is not a good idea.

If it matters I would surely caption each screenshot and gif saying who it came from and link directly to their channel.

Thanks for any insight.

Without the video producer's permission I would tread lightly….

I just say that because I know people who pulled images off of google to use on their websites and then were contacted by the people who owned the images that they were being sued. Actually, it wasn't even the owner of the images, it was just some losers who scoured the webs looking for certain pictures that they knew couldn't be owned by anybody else. What you may want to do is try sites like dollarphoto.com where you can have 100% use of all the images you want for $1 each.

I hope that helps and good luck
