Default What do you think of press releases?

I know that PRWeb offers a service for $80
Webwire offers a $20 service

I have never done a press release before and I don't know what kind of results I should expect. With all the prices and services those websites offer; where do you start?

I've created and introduced many new products in my career and what I've found that works for me is;

Send a Press Release to your LOCAL Newspaper. They are always looking for articles to fill their pages, especially from LOCAL residents.

Then...when they run your article, make Copies of it and then send it, along with your PR, to other outlets.

What you've done is PROVEN to other outlets that a "Fellow" editor thought enough of your article to run it. This takes some of the "pressure" off them making a decision on whether your item would be worthwhile to their readers.

Press Release are great. They rank really well for their title...so make sure your keywords are in there.

PRlog.org is free and is a great site!

Definiately investigate into what your press release writers offer as they may offer a good price but not particularly good quality. They are always great to read though and pack a lot of informative details into a short article so is very advantageous!

This is GREAT advice for people seeking *offline* publicity.

However this does not quite work the same way for online publicity.
