What you DON'T want to do to BOOST your traffic....

In the past few weeks, I have tested a few places where you actually buy something like:

5,000 real visitors to your site for only $40

Some of these places are more expensive then $40 and some are cheaper.

I have tested a good amount of places tracking everything from every single source. I have tested different opt in pages, squeeze pages etc.......I wanted to see how many leads I am getting from each source. (Single opt ins that only have to enter an email)

I even got to the point where I was averaging about 600-1000 "visitors" from these sources per day.

After a week or so I have come to the conclusion....... Buying traffic packages will get your "visitors", but no conversions. ( I really think that these are BOTS clicking on your link to go to your website and not real people).

In my view, WASTE OF MONEY.

You're right, but what strikes me more is how people only see numbers. As if X amount of visitors is all that matters. As if there aren't people who don't have credit cards, only people who do. As if there aren't people uninterested in your offer, only people who are. As if there aren't people who are put off by hype, only people who aren't. Etc., etc.

You look at these people who don't even stop to consider these and many other things, people who only look at quantity, and you cannot stop thinking, "these people, sir, are not very bright."

Good thing we're not all the same. Good for me, at least.

Anyway, this is just a long-winded way of saying that people should probably focus on the quality of traffic, too, and that when they get promised 5,000 pair of eye-balls for $40, perhaps they won't get more than a few bots. And that if it was that easy to generate traffic and therefore make sales, everyone would get rich literally overnight.

I've learned that there's no good FREE or CHEAP traffic. Facebook ads and Google ads are cheaper than solo ads though

    Good post, TS.

Hopefully, you saved some WF members from wasting hard earned dollars.

The bottom line? If the traffic is DECENT, the owner of that traffic wouldn't SELL that traffic and use it instead.......

Like others have mentioned, if it's too good to be true, it probably is. Most of those cheap traffic sources do what they say…get people to see your ad. Unfortunately for you, it's usually not people who are interested in whatever it is you're doing.

Just remember that there is a reason the big networks like Facebook, Google and Bing charge more for traffic…it's actually traffic that is interested in your offer. I am going to suggest that maybe doing solo ads may work for you…just a thought!

I hope that helps and good luck!

This is so true usually these ads are going out to people who are getting paid to click on ads and unless you have an ad that punches them in the face they have ad blindness. I have access to free advertising on one of the sites I am using but I can count the number of optins I have had on one finger and we are talking about 1000's of clicks.
The people that are advertising the gigs on fiverr have usually got software to post these on traffic exchanges so the traffic there get credits to pay for their advertising on that site. I spent the first few years online wasting time on these traffic exchanges. You do have to learn that you need to be putting your ads where your market is. Even if these people do optin they are unlikely to buy
Thanks for this post it should save some warriors some time and money

Does anyone else remember the days when just about every web page had a traffic counter at the bottom showing how many visitors that page had had? It got to the point where page owners became more concerned with making that little counter spin than with anything else - it was a status symbol.

Some people would even fake it by using an animated gif of the counter spinning like a gas pump filling an SUV - both tanks.

People claiming to get thousands of visitors, but no engagements, and wondering why they are failing.

"I get 10,000 visitors per month."

        Where are they coming from?

        "I dunno."

How many of them are even human?

        "I dunno."

How many of them were targeted?

        "I dunno, but I got 10,000 visitors..."

Is it just me, or is there a feeling of deja vu in the air?

Hmm. Interesting. Sounds just like Social media, especially Instagram.

    Hi talfighel,
just purchased some traffic, not cheap either, from a place that put me through the wringer to confirm my identity before they would accept my campaigns, then they sent me hundreds of Bot traffic.

Fortunately I had ClickMagick - Track And Optimize All Your Marketing, All In One Place set up and they filtered all of this, otherwise I would just think I had a bad offer I guess.

They have not returned my mail as yet, as I sent them a csv file of the stats.

To be fair, it is the weekend, so I will give them time to explain, and for that reason I will not divulge their name in case they have a way to explain this.

Run Clickmagick tracking on your traffic generation and just see what you are really getting.

    Amazing.

    cheers, Mal.

Nice share, thanks for posting the results of your recent experimentation. As another poster mentioned, if it were so easy, everyone would be profiting, instead of the companies offering these services.

It's very expensive to make real money.

It's very cheap to waste it.

I'm a huge fan of Facebook PPC. I don't really trust much else at the moment which is a shame because Facebook prices are at least six times what they were a year ago.

But I'm willing to pay it because it pays me.

    Talfighel,

You are right and wrong at the same time.

Yes, it is true that probably most of these sites sell junk traffic and even bot traffic.

However, some of them sell real human traffic. But you have to know what to sell an dhow to configure your landing page for said traffic. It's not high conversion by any means. But it can be converted...if you are buying from a reputable source, which takes time and money to figure out.

I know because I used to sell "male enhancment" products via this type of traffic about 5 years ago. I only stopped because the companies I used either went out of business or change their payouts to to the point it wasn't worth it.

    The key is...

    1. Right traffic company
    2. right type of traffic for your product (popunder, popover, expired domain redirect, domain parking page keyword links, etc)
    2. right product
    3. right landing page
    4. trial and error.

Given that, I would agree that mostly folks should just stay away as it can get quite expensive before you start finding how to make conversions...and for a profit.

Oh, and although I am no expert at converting this type of traffic, from my experience (for anyone who is wondering) I can tell you that your target market with this traffic is going to be the extremely gullible and extremely desperate people who might even be relatively new to the internet or just never "get it".

Let's face it, who even looks at stuff like popunders let alone buy anything from the ads on them. Well, the person I just described...that's who. You pitch them at the right time with the right pitch and the right product, and you can convert them.

Some of them use a software to post on facebook groups.

Most of the time they will create an ad with a link to your website.

Then they will use the software to post a message in many groups in maybe 24 hours or 48 hours (they put a timer between each post to make it look natural).

If they do things properly, they will select only the groups that are related to your niche (but most of the time they don't care...).

This is how you will see some traffic in your website.

You pay $5 or more, and the guy will just push a button and go watch TV...

Cheap traffic is often more expensive than expensive traffic
    ...read that again

If you pay $40 for 5000 clicks and you get 0 sales you lost $40 - If you buy 5000 clicks for $5,000 and get 50 sales on a $42 product, that is $2,100 straight up.
These subscribers are worth $1 per month average. Your first month you make $5,000+$2,100 = $7,100

Now... Look at the statement again, and stop buying garbage traffic.

Everywhere you buy traffic, you want to see how many opt ins you get and how many sales.

If you buy 100 unique clicks that are REAL, you should know your numbers. Otherwise you are just shooting in the dark.
