old domain or buying a new domain

When starting a new website is it advisable to buy an expiring domain from godaddy or any other site? The cost of godaddy will be $37 including auction fee, domain registration cost and privacy whois cost. A new domain including privacy is less theb $10 at namecheap.

I don't think I'll be able to buy a domain specific name at godaddy (it will be too time consuming). The idea is to buy a dmain that was previously used as a travel site (has travel backlinks) and use it as a niche site for say 'widgets'.

If the existing backlinks are quality then I would say get the expiring for sure.

Use any backlink service, find the links & vet them rigorously. If you think you can also do outreach to those sites once you've updated the site & content & perhaps get some more links; you'll be strides ahead of a fresh site.

I would just buy both with the goal of reviving the expiring domain. If it doesn't pan out, you've still secured anyone else from getting your second choice in the mean time.

    I mean, we're quibbling over $10 here...

Anuraggupta2015 I'm not sure I understand your question.

What do you mean "what domain"?

Do you mean which extension? the .com,.org.net etc

    Or the bit before that?

What is your business? There's no way to really suggest anything without knowing more about your current business you are looking to promote?
