How should I develop a jiu-jitsu/MMA related domain?

Hey guys,

I have the domain JiuJitsu.cc - I was thinking of making a jiu jitsu related site. They keyword has over 300,000 exact searches a month now.

Does any have experience with these types of sites?

What are some ideas on how to develop it? Make it a jiu jitsu info site? Videos? Sell an ebook?

Thanks!

    Hi

Well there is a lot to this, but first.

You need to understand who your target audience is.

So is your site for beginners, experts, or for people who want to follow the sport?

This is very important, you need to figure out right now who your website is for.

Once you know the WHO then you need to figure out

HOW you are going to solve those people's problems or meet thier needs.

so if your site is about teaching beginners basic moves, so they can get started then maybe a video course would do that best.

    it is up to you.

I highly recommend you look at other JiuJitsu sites who are doing what you want to do and mimic them

this will give you a solid foundation to build your site on.

Last point is whatever you end up doing with your site

it is wise to build an email list from day one.

This will give you many advantages moving forward

    Hope that helped

    ~Mike

Do you have any experience with this niche?

You may have to narrow the focus down considerably.

I am a practitioner of the art of choking people out :-)

I would probably be your target audience. And as such, I can tell you that the content that I enjoy the most online are YouTube videos. Martial arts are very visual. It's nearly impossible to gain any helpful insights from martial arts books (trust me, I've tried).

If you have the ability/resources to create YouTube videos, I would use THAT as your method for generating traffic.

From there, as a practitioner, I'm most interested in programs and information that help me get better at the sport. I'm not necessarily looking for new moves because I already have a professor who teaches me a lot, but I'm looking to get that "edge".

Things like diet, exercise routines, etc. really interest me.

What really, really, really interest me is how to practice Brazilian jujitsu free of neck and back pain. Or how to take care of my hands better without being an old man with broken fingers.

I think a lot of BJJ dudes would be interested in that same kind of information.

A big-ticket item that you could sell would be seminars with major jujitsu guys. It would be a pain to have to organize, but you could charge premium prices.
