Deleting Post and Making Page

Hi all,

I have a post on my wordpress site, however I would like to make this a page, as every time I have changed themes it has been a heartache to make it the landing page again (I always want a single post to be my landing page, this will not change).

My question is, will this stuff up the SEO as google has been indexing this post for a few months? I would need to delete the post and create a new page....

thanks,
Tom

Have you tried making the post sticky using settings>>reading and sticky page and then below post page on your WordPress dashboard

    If not that then..
    .
There is no need to delete any post that has already been indexed

Just create a similar page that way the indexed post will still be of some value

    (Just my opinion)

maybe your concern is about duplicate content.

well, maybe this video about duplicate content. on Google office hours may help

I am no SEO expert but I do believe there is a plugin called redirection or something like that. If your post and page are all under the same domain, you can create the page, merge the content and then redirect the post to the main page.

Google should automatically update their system with the new url. However, there is a tool in webmasters that can tell big G that your content has moved.

This will take some doing but it's possible.

Thanks, I have made the post sticky, and now it goes to that page, but it only shows a summary of the article, I've looked through all the settings and can't find a way to make it go to the article. I'll have a play around with some redirection plugins, cheers!

Yes, if you delete the post and publish it again you will lose the Google ranking and traffic. I've learned that the hard way by losing a traffic of 1,000 unique visitors per day
