Amazon Afiliate Link On Home Page

Ia it a good idea to have amazon links on the home page (even if its cloaked)? Or is it better if the links were on the internal pages?

You can definitely put Amazon links on the homepage. However, ensure that your blog has nice informative detailed content in both homepage as well as internal pages to support those affiliate links.

Put your amazon link anywhere you are promoting a product.

Also, you should go back to amazon and read their TOS regarding the cloaking of links.

I agree with reachintan and agmccall.
What you really want to do is to place the links on the most relevant pages and pages that have the most views. The homepage is usually one of the most visited pages, so as long as it's relevant and that respects the TOS, you can definitely promote a product there.

Yup, I would and go a little further...

    1) Build a list by placing your form on the side bar.
    2) create banners for the side bar linking to your amazon offers
    3) tell your blog and list prospects about offers from Amazon
    4) Tell your friends, associates about your offers and direct them to a post on your blog.
    5) always recommend your blog readers to sign up to your list and RSS

You can even write a short report about your offers and give that away as an incentive.
