What are your content struggles?

We all know that content that pulls targeted visitors and is engaging is king.

My question to you all is: what is the one thing you're struggling with when it comes to content creation? My next question is: what are your goals for it, are they specific and measurable?

Speaking for myself, my biggest issue used to be researching and finding ideas. The next issue was actually writing the article or book in questions (nothing worse than staring at a blank Word document).

I've always loved creating content. I love the research and learning about new topics and I love the writing part. One thing I've learned when staring at the blank screen is to just start writing. Anything. Jump right into the middle of the article. You can always revise later. Sometimes the introduction is the last thing I write.

My biggest struggle? Not enough hours in the day to write everything I want to.

You know Brad, that's a great idea and I have actually heard other people talk about doing that because it does help with writer's block. Just like you, I enjoy writing and I would sure love to help you to create content for your articles, e-books and reports.

I write better than I speak. Writing for me seams to flow much better than I speak. It isn't that I am shy, or that I am unable to speak in front of large audiences and such. It is just that when I am on the computer keyboard, the words seam to flow much better.

Therefore, I love writing and I love writing reports, articles as well as e-books.

I guess my personal struggle with content would be not simply finding enough of the right content to use. When I do get stuck, I either go to some PLR content, or I surf the web to get ideas that I can write on and that usually helps with the writer's block thing.

I know that a whole lot of people have trouble with content, and some of that trouble can be in the form of finding the right content, or how to display it and so on. However, the fact is, content is what should drive your business. Now if you're running a membership site and you're having trouble with finding the right content then you're not alone because a whole lot of people have trouble in this area.

That is where PLR content comes, or even free content provided that you can find it. Now in the case of PLR content, the key to providing good content is to find PLR that is relevant, and sometines that can be quite hard to do especially with all the rehashed and poorly written information out there that is in PLR format.

The best thing that you can do at this point is to find a well trusted resource and stick with it so that you don't end up with any bad content that you simply can't use.

I plan to be working on a site where you can get all kinds of content for free, but this is going to take a while because I have to develop all of the pages and such and get everything set up. Content is extremely important to your business and to your customers so it makes perfect sense that you want to deliver to them the best information possible.

I myself have trouble finding really good content sometimes, but doesn't everybody? And depending upon the niche that you're in will also determine at whether or not there is enough content for that particular niche. The niches that are really small might not have enough content for them, so that would mean that you would have to find a niche with a greater amount of content that is usable.

Niches like the make money online niche and the Internet marketing niche are two of the most popular niches to find content on. That's because so many people write about these and have the content that you can use in your own business to present to your customers.

I am in no way trying to be pedantic or argumentative, but that is a Mantra, and 'content' seems to be a new buzzword around here. Here is something people need to start considering about that Mantra - it may be time to start adapting it a little bit.

There is this thing called the Gardner Hype Cycle. Applied to digital and content marketing, some would suggest the 'Content is King' Mantra is likely where the orange circle is. I cropped out a couple letters to keep it all WF friendly:

    A couple articles to consider:

    Content Marketing

    https://velocitypartners.com/blog/co...sillusionment/

That 'King Content' that got hyped up is quickly becoming the entry fee to have success with that thing called 'content marketing' - high quality content will no longer be the 'solution', but minimum requirement. From there, things like distribution channels will becoming increasingly important, as well as many understanding that the 'more, more, more' content phase is coming to a close, and high quality well written/thought/produced content will become the average WF user's biggest problem when it comes to content and generating it ...

I love writing content, and that's a problem for me, because something tells me that I should do keyword research first and then write what the keyword research says I should write about. But I would rather write about what I feel like writing about - that's what I enjoy - but then it's not really SEO optimized.

So my question to other warriors is, which is better? My need is to pull in traffic, although at this stage I'm not looking for sales, just sign-ups to my mailing list.

The other thing I'm grappling with is the time required for content writing (it's not my day job). I have time to write about 2000 words of content a week. Is it better to write 4 x 500 word posts or 1 x 2000 word post?

    What do you think?

Skylang, I would say that while SEO optimized content can be useful, from what I've seen it is far more useful to figure out precisely "who" you want to reach with your content, basically write for that person and worry about SEO later.

Chris, thank you, that's exactly what I was thinking. The key is not more content, but very specific content that speaks to ONE person (your avatar if you will), and not trying to be all things to everyone.

Funny you should ask. I simply jump on here and see what people are posting questions about. If it falls under my target market. I blog about it & providing solutions for them on a daily bases. Cool hey?

I'm 18 years old & born in a foreign country where English is not the #1 language. My biggest problem is grammar, i can't say how many times i use google when i'm writing lol.

I recently started to read books in English & participating in online courses.

I think the thing that's hardest, and the most overlooked, is not really the content creation ... it's getting the content distributed to the right places in an efficient manner.

The best content in the world is useless if no one sees it and acts upon it. And I can tell you for sure that just placing content on a blog doesn't cut it.

I agree with Steve B. Most people don't struggle creating content, they struggle getting their content in front of enough eyeballs.

If one of your main struggles is the actual writing of the article, there's a tool I saw published on a different thread here, called Articoolo. I started playing around with it and I am usually satisfied with the results, as not only does it write the article for me, meaning all I have to do is proofread and edit (much easier for me than actually writing), but it also does all the research for me.

I can always add to the articles and expand them if necessary, but usually just for the purposes of unique content, it's actually been pretty decent.

My biggest problem with content is When I get the idea. I usually get good Ideas while driving down the road. Then by the time I stop somewhere I have forgotten my idea. I bought a small recorder but I always seem to forget it. I think I will get another one and keep it in my truck
