I just got an email from a guy called Pat Murray (and his mentor Henry Gold) asking me to join their "anti-giveaway launch", which looks kind of interesting.
But I don't know them at all. Has anyone come across either of these guys and any opinion on working with them? Thanks John Hillage |

Last year Henry Gold did a large giveaway and also sold high ticket items and I got on some of his calls -- don't remember how good it was, but just a lot of emails.
He also charges $1000 an hour consulting (is what he said anyway). I think some people from Singapore could tell you more about him. Don't know who Pat is. |

Hi John,
All I can add is that last year and previously, Henry was quite often seen running giveaways...I'm sure if you look in google, you will find lots of info. Here - http://www.google.com/search?q="henry+gold"+giveaway |

I received the same email, but didn't recognise the names...
I don't remember being on either one's list - especially not with my main email address, but as it's "apparently" a JV invite - I can imagine they got my email via other means (whois etc). That's not to say the email is unsolicited... |

I've gotten 2 of them from "Pat" as well. I know who Henry is, but Pat, nope, never heard of the dude.
Good question about the list John, I wonder that too. Tracy |

I wouldn't touch it, personally. Not with a ten-foot pole. ("Stretch Polanski. Tallest Pole I've ever seen.")
First, the email I got from Pat was a lie. Said it was "personal," when I could tell from the formatting that it was bulk. That's a lie I don't forget or forgive. The words I have for people who use "(personal)" in the subject of a mass email are not appropriate for this forum. Second, Henry is a schmuck, in my opinion. My first experience with him was on a package he sent me that covered a lot of basics, and asserted that I had no right, by virtue of receiving his unsolicited manuals, to teach anything that was contained in them. Third, it's the typical scheme to suck the active subscribers from your list. Totally unbalanced, value-wise. I wouldn't touch this one even if it wasn't Henry. Paul |

Heard of Henry Gold. But never Pat Murray.
Got the same "personal" email today too. I never heard of his name before let alone subscribed to him. So technically, it is an unsolicited email. But that's okay. Where it gets interesting is that EVERYBODY seemed to got that email. So by definition, that is bulk unsolicited emails... aka spam. |

Oh, my.
Sign up, and you get a request to give them the log-in info to your "Google, AOL, Hotmail, Lycos, Rediffmail, .Mac, Mail.com, GMX, IcqMail, Web.de or Plaxo account." Or your Outlook (Express) addressbook. That's the requirement for getting the "free" report they offer on the sign-up page. Note that they don't mention that up front. I've just added Pat Murray and Henry Gold to my permanent "Joke 'em if they can't fake a tuck" list. Stay very far away. Paul |

Henry Gold's name sounds a little bit familiar, but the only "Pat Murray" I've ever heard of was Patty Murray. Not the person sending you emails, I am sure.

Apology:
This is Pat Murray and I took it upon myself and sent the emails being referred to. It was totally my idea to send out the emails in bulk form which was NOT approved by Henry Gold. As for where I obtained these emails, I sourced them from Clickbank testimonials, Quantcast, sales letter testimonials, and searching on Google for internet marketers. Only legitimate sources were used, as I was taught by Henry Gold, to get this information. As I said, I took it totally upon myself to take these legitimately sourced emails and import them into an autoresponder. Henry Gold was NOT informed of this fact, and the mailing would not have occurred if I had informed him because he would not have approved it. I am new at product launches of this magnitude and in my excitement I came up with a faulty plan, on my own, to get the word out. Henry Gold guards his reputation zealously, and I would never intentionally do anything to harm someone else's reputation. I have found out personally through the years that a good reputation is more important than anything in life. Henry Gold never advocates the use of spam or bulk mailing and he always teaches there are no shortcuts to success. He teaches his students to do their best and to have an excellent reputation online. So I am humbly asking that since I made this huge mistake, which I really am humbled and sorry about, that you could find it in your hearts to realize that I know NOW I really blew it. Thanks, Pat Murray |

Pat,
thanks for your response in this thread... By legitimate methods, I guess you mean manually searching for email addresses via people's own websites (via their whois info) - and adding it to your mailing software? Can I presume that further mailings will not follow? Can I also get confirmation from you that you received my SECOND email today? Kindest regards, Karl. |

Pat,
If you learn, you learn. It will be forgotten soon enough. Suggesting that those emails were "legitimately sourced" is a sign that you've got a lot more to learn. As is the use of the "spam your friends" system you've employed on your site. My last experience with Henry was a teleseminar. The promotional copy promised to teach a system for achieving a specific purpose. What it delivered was an extended sales pitch for the actual system. He had someone read him prepared questions (which is fine), to which he replied by reading prepared answers - three times each. It was one of the very few "how to" experiences from which I learned exactly nothing useful. Not encouraging. Paul |
