domain names buy and sell help

Hi,
I have just started this domain buy and sell business. I have bought at least 30 domains and seems all good. Now, I need to know how i can sell them. I have parked it on godaddy for the time being.

I would like to know couple of things before i spend money on selling these domain..

1. do set up account on flippa? if yes then how should i set up the profile and description page?

2. what should be the best way either auction or buy it know? do i join as a premium member?

3. is there any other best place to join apart from flippa?

4. is there any latest guide available around on setting up for selling domain?

i have bought some domain with google page rank and descent cpc rate.. and some of are with high google search and high cpc rate...

now i just need someone to provide me a clear direction, on how should i sell it....

i did buy some ebooks here and there... but, i still dont have any basic tools on setting up seller profile and correct description template and guideline for effective expose..

any suggestion is much appreciated here..

thanks.
sam

You jumped the gun. You (very likely) bought a product nobody needs, and now you are going to invest resources into setting up a shop nobody will visit.

Unless you are in the top 1% of domainers, this exercise is almost certainly doomed to fail.

My advice is to pick the single best domain and put it on flippa. If you get no interest, put it on ebay. If you still can't sell it, cut your losses and find something else to do.

If you do find a buyer, take the next best one and try again. Keep going until you figure out what works and what doesn't.

To put it another way, the reseller tools you use are not going to determine whether you succeed or not. The quality of your domains will. And if you are registering domains for the purpose of resale, the chances you will be able to find buyers for them are very slim.

You are joining this game 20 years too late.

    Good summary Jack Gordon!

One thing to add: If these are domains that still get some traffic, measure it! It is something every buyer would like to know eventually

oh thanks for the quick suggestion here.
what i mean is to set up description page on flippa or any domain selling site, not my own shop.
i do understand that its a bit too late to join this domian games but i still thought there was a possibility.
so.. what is the best option.. should i develop them as a aurhority site one by one and keep it for a while untill it gets better...
    or..
should i monotise it for adsense and keep it as a clean site woth content for real teaffic..?
what i dont know is ahould i just keep the domain as ot is or develop it aa a basic site...
english is not my first language so i do struggle when ot comes to serting up anything on site like flippa etc..

Authority sites are, by definition, not easy to establish. But even if you are capable of creating and maintaining one, that is the polar opposite of the business model you came here to ask about. As a general rule, I would suggest that it is probably not a good business strategy to attempt to create authority sites on domains you registered to resell. It lacks too many of the elements you would need to succeed.

Adsense sites are totally unrealistic in this context. You have no traffic, therefore no revenue. If you started to get traffic, you could probably find better ways to monetize, not to mention that traffic alone might make the site easier to resell.

You don't want to hear this because you are excited about your idea... but there is no market for newly registered domains. For many reasons, you are way too late.

If you are determined to learn this the hard way, I already gave you the only real answer.

Take the best one and put it on Flippa. Then the next best one, and so on.

If you really want to try a strategy that might work, you could try to market your domains directly to potential endusers, but unless they are really good it won't get you anywhere.

While you are at it, you should try to market pet rocks, lava lamps, baby on board bumper stickers, 8 track tapes and chia pets. At least there are retro markets out there that would probably buy those.

Newly registered domain names in 2016? Not so much.

You can definitely try Flippa or Ebay, but you probably won't get top dollars there. Check Sedo or Brandbucket. Average price per domains is much higher there.

If you can't unload your domain on Flippa, develop your domains into actual blogs or sites

After you've gained some traction, sell them on Flippa

Forum development CAN be lucrative, for example, thanks to cheap posters who can populate your forum as well as pull traffic.

Exact match in the domain name doesn't do anything for people these days.

It's now really about the contents of the actual site and what keywords are targeted on the site itself. If there is no site and just a domain, you'll be lucky to get back what ever you paid for it.

    Sam,

Here's my advice as I've been in the domain biz for 16 years. Join NamePros & list your best name in the make an offer section for free. Have a good title & description. Offers will likely be low or non-existent at that domain forum but not necessarily. You gotta realize these are domain resellers who may have seen the names you purchased (I'm guessing you bought them at a GoDaddy auction?). Now I have bought names at domain forums or domain auction sites & resold them to others in the domain industry at a higher price so I won't say you can't resell at a higher price among resellers. If you get some type of offers at NamePros than "maybe" spend money listing at Flippa but quite honestly their bidding levels suck as well. I've chosen to not spend money there any longer.

List your names free at Sedo & Afternic (GoDaddy auctions as well "maybe" - year membership is $4.95). I wish Freemarket.com would become popular & generate sales but it isn't happening for now. Flippa also does have a free domain classified listing section.

Now ask yourself this question as well as you bought 30 names. Could you have gotten more value by buying only 1 better quality name in the domain aftermarket? By the way renewing 1 domain name per year is a lot cheaper then renewing 30. Domains can be assets or liabilities depending on domain quality.

You aren't 20 years too late though it's true the best names were registered long ago. You still can make money in the domain biz buying names from others, winning domain name drops or though I'm not a fan of them... some are reselling some of the gTLDs (.club, .top, ..xyz, science, etc.... ). I haven't bothered with the new gTLDs though I think .club has promise. Visit https://namebio.com/ & see what actually is selling. DNJournal.com/domainsales.htm also gives weekly updates on top "reported" sales for the week.

IMO stick with .com & "high quality" .net, .org & .info (I've bought/sold .biz &.us as well myself)

Over the years I have sold over 1000 names ranging from $XX to $XX,XXX prices (even have turned down $XXX,XXX offers on 1 name). I also have let about 300-400 names expire - names I shouldn't have registered in the 1st place... I wasted money. Lesson - don't register crappy domain names.

If you have a truly STRONG product category name then you can contact businesses in that niche directly (or they may even contact you). Example - CustomSign.com I used to own - a very good name. iCustomizerSigns.com - a very bad name. Domain brokers also will list stronger value domain names.

The domain biz is not easy & I sell only a handful of names per year now with larger $XX,XXX sales every 2-3 years (I'm down to about 225 names that I own at the moment). Don't spend anymore money until you are well-educated on what is actually being sold. Building sites on the names is a smart route to go.
