technical question, maybe for the developers

Hi,

I'm creating a service with the youtube API, to search youtube videos, especially those who have the "monetizable" option enabled.

Problem: the "monetized" property returned by the API when I do a search, doesn't work, so I can't see if a video is monetizable or not.

I think It has something to do with the API and maybe the type of account that I have, I mean, this is maybe a "private" information an I have to subscribe to something to get access to it, but I'm not sure...

This "monetized" information is the reason why the marketers need this type of service. They want to find what are the best videos in their niche, in which they will be allowed to put their ads!

So if someone has any informations about it...

Thanks.

Wouldn't it make more sense to understand the YouTube API before you decide to base your service around that API?

...and wouldn't the API documentation be a more likely place to find answers about the API features, and how the interface works?

      Don't think I'm a newbie...

I have created all the features that I needed with this API, the only problem is the "monetizable" flag.

And yes, I have checked the API Reference, and I did not found the information.

Yes this is what I think.

I wonder if I need another youtube API like the "Content ID API", this API can probably request the monetizable datas, but to use this API it I must join the YouTube Partner Program...

I use Video Titan Video Researcher cloud based software that provides views per day, earnings per day, and videos with advertising links to do what you are trying to do so you may want to look into that product.

I have checked Video Titan Video Researcher, the site also use the youtube APIs.

But I don't see the "monetized" option on their video.

"views per day, earnings per day" it does not give the information about the "monetizable" option.

What I need is to know if the owner of a video allows to display ads at the begining of his video.

This option will allow me to search the top videos of a niche where it's allowed to display ads.

for example if you check the video on this page tubesift.com

you will see that on each video there is a "$", it means "this video is monetized".

you can also type "How Do I Find Monetized YouTube Videos?" on youtube, and you will find a video with a guy who explains why it's important and then he promotes his own service...

I just need to find how I can access this simple information to finish my service.

OK. Now I understand. I think I bought a product on JVZOO that gives out that info but I don't recall what it was and I have never gotten around to using it.
