Amazon just closed down my Amazon Associates account. I don't know why.

This is what they said:

"Hello.

We are writing to notify you that we are terminating the Amazon Associates Program Operating Agreement with you with immediate effect. Your Associates Program account will be closed and you will not receive further payment of advertising fees.

We have taken this step because we have previously closed an account that we have determined belongs to you or a person affiliated with you or acting in concert with you for violations of the Associates Program Operating Agreement, the Product Advertising API License Agreement, or one of the other Associates Programs operated by our affiliates.

You can find the complete terms of the Operating Agreement and its Schedules via this link: https://affiliate-program.amazon.com...ates/agreement.

We insist that you immediately remove all Amazon content, including Special Links, from your site(s). Any other accounts you have or may open in the future may be closed and you will not receive any advertising fees. We reserve all other rights and claims we may have.

Warmest Regards,

Amazon.com"

Did any of you have encountered this? What should I do?

More details:
I run an affiliate site. I've created it in December 2014. Started monetizing it in January 2015. The site was closed down on February 2016.

Yes, I accepted the COPPA rules they outlined.

I asked the live chat personnel why they closed it, they said they didn't know either. I still got some advertising fees for December and January. I can't claim them because of this.

Can somebody help?

Keep reaching out to Amazon support through email or phone call until you get an answer. Do it once every day so that they are forced to give you an apt answer.

The only time you'd not know why is if you never had any other account with amazon.com. But, then, you'd be screaming at them, Hey, I only had one account with you. Ever. The one you closed. You're confusing me with someone else.

But they certainly provided their reasoning for closing the account. Makes you think the OP DID have another account that broke amazon's rules, doesn't it?

I don't have another account. The only account I have was the one banned. I have a lot of friends who are making money with Amazon Associates. They were equally as shocked as me when I got banned.

I tread carefully whenever I affiliate with these giant companies because I don't want to piss them off. But sadly I still did.

I wanted to know what are the "VIOLATIONS" I did.

That's the thing I want to know. The chat support didn't tell me what it is. They just said they can't open the account for me again.

Shouldn't you be starting with knowing which account (username, website(s) connected to it) they're talking about?

OP, there's a myriad of threads on this forum discussing the same subject. I recommend you browse them and see what those people did to cause Amazon to ban them, and then see if you did some of those things, too.

For example, did you send Amazon affiliate links in emails? That's forbidden. Do you have a page where you disclose that you're making money with Amazon? That's required. Etc.

I went through everything. I didn't do anything wrong. I had some of my friends go through my website, too. They said it's clean.

Do you think I can create another account, but a new name?

I always think it is interesting when someone gets banned for some wrong doing, they come here proclaiming their innocence, then in the same breath vow to continue on breaking the rules.

When you use the chat support at any company, not just Amazon, you are starting at the bottom of the food chain. These folks are trained to answer basic questions, and this is enough most of the time. For more complicated issues, you need to move up a notch or more on the chain.

Start by calling them on the phone. If the front-line person can't help, ask for a supervisor. Keep moving up until you get your answer or they refuse to take you any further.

That's how I finally found out why my Adsense account was banned. I kept digging for contacts and asking respectfully until I finally got live email from someone who could tell me. People at the time were amazed that I actually got a real answer from Google, which was known for stonewalling this kind if query.

As for that lame advice of going through anonymizers and trying to trick Amazon into giving you a new account, don't do it. You may open the account, and even get some advertising fees, but you still have to collect them. You will get caught, probably sooner rather than later, and you will lose any fees earned. And when you get banned this time, there will be no "what did I do wrong" questions.

I don't think that it would be a good idea to contact them and beg them to get your account active again. I don't even recommend that you try to open a new account again because they have the technology to catch you again.

I would just move on. There are other great networks in the market place that are even better then they are.

Just make sure that you follow the rules so that this does not happen again.

None of us know why, but, you could give us a list of some reason you might think it got closed for. Then we can maybe help you out. Although, your best bet is to go to the amazon associates forum, which you can access through your amazon dashboard. There you can read similar discussions as well as start your own

Move on. There are many other options as viable( if not way more so) than Amazon. Even if you have put years of work into Amazon Sites, chalk it up and look at it as a challenge to go in a different more profitable direction

Amazon didn't get to where they are by being tricked by incognito mode. They are VERY good at sniffing this stuff out.

I am confident that you loved your Amazon income and the ease of making money there was. But don't try to sell on Amazon anymore. Take control of your business, and your life.

Take a few days off to cool down... then start over doing affiliate marketing with a different company - or create your own info-products and sell them yourself on your website.
