Hi Gents & Ladies,

My name is Chris and I am an entrepreneur from South Africa.

Although I have developed quite a lot in business over the last couple of years and are currently involved in marketing, restaurant's, product development, retail and commercial developments, I am absolutely lost on this site.

I understand the meaning of SEO's,blog's etc.but in terms of making money out of the a fore mentioned, I am still a noob! Is there anybody who can give direction please. Just looking at Forum Heading's leave me dumbstruck!!!

Is there a post maybe explaining all the different "online type of business or service's" one can enter, I really believe this is the future of doing business, fortunately and unfortunately for me the future is here and I do not have a clue where to start.

Thank you for your time reading this and possibly replying!

Peace out!

    Chris,

You can make money many ways online.

The thing about IM is it's not really different from offline. You're doing the same things...just using different tools. Instead of direct mail, you use solo ads. Instead of a mail-in coupon or a 1-800 #, you use a squeeze page.

Don't get caught up in the jumble of this vs that technology. The technology is not the solution.

Finding a group of people you can really help is.

Who do you want to help? Who has a serious problem they will reward you to solve?

    That's where to start.

The rest is kind of nonsense. This vs that...what traffic source, what conversion tool...it doesn't matter. Get your funnel in place first, which you do in plain English (or whatever your first language happens to be)...and THEN choose your tech tools for making that happen.

There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way. There's only testing.

    Chris,

There are lots of ways to do business online. One of them is affiliate marketing or selling other people's products for a commission.

This is what most people do online. It is by far the easiest to start and making money.

If you do decide on affiliate marketing, find a really good mentor before you do anything.

      Chris,

I know you're anxious to get started, but if I were to give you some advice, I'd say to spend some time on this forum and watch, observe, study, and see if you can get a feel for Internet Marketing and what's involved before you rush out and choose some path. See what's available and what's possible first.

You will (very quickly) be drawn to some money methods over others. Some will fit your personality, time available, and past experience in business better than others. You will begin to narrow the field of what you would like to do.

Then is the time to get serious about specific methods and strategies. Then is the time to ask questions or seek out some help if that is what you want to do.

In the mean time, here is a Glossary of IM Terms that is pretty good. It will help you to understand what certain "trade talk" means.

      The very best to you,

      Steve

Again use the search feature of this forum to find the answer to your questions.

Making money whether its online or off all comes down to serving the marketplace. Is there a demand and supply the demand with quality products and services. Then you market or send quality, targeted traffic...

      Hi Guys,

Thank you very much for the response, I appreciate it, as I see it comes through experience.

I think you hit it on the spot Jason, as newbie, it is difficult, without not really knowing what is what, to get through the opinions and technical discussion apart from finding the essence of each possible avenue.

Talfighel, good advice, as we all need cash flow to sustain us to get to the ultimate goal or vision we are aiming at!

Steve, a large amount if not all of my success I have achieved in the business world and still continuing, even in racing, has come down to having excellent mentors. There is no better way to learn by hitting your own head, but through mentors you save a lot of "school money" and unnecessary disappointment.... I cannot agree more.

Coming back to your comment Jason, I have seen in business, if you have to many "pearls",(long term projects), you suffer too much on the short term and short term business, will never sustain you in the long run, so it is to get a balance I believe.

I believe what I have to offer, is to assist people who want to do business in South Africa through trategic J.V.'s, feasibility's, etc. Online short term, I am still trying to figure out...Talfighel mentioned a couple of options, but will need to figure out which still has the best ROI, in terms of time and money.

Steve, I will start with the glossary!

      Thank you guys,

      Warm Regards,

      Chris

    It's best to specialize.

A very common problem is trying to do too many things and spreading yourself too thin. It's not just a newbie issue. Many experienced marketers (myself included) regularly struggle with it.
