Noob with $1k. What should I do with it?

Ok so I have been saving a bit so I could spend it on online marketing. I have tried teespring and am currently 300$ down (but I'm not giving up on that). My teesprng side I decided to hire my friend for 50/50 instead of upfront money.

Now for the extra 1k I have I don't know where to invest it on in terms of making some $$.
I have looked at kindle publishing but it looks like it takes too much investment. Note: if I had the money I WOULD 100% GO WITH KINDLE, BUT, I currently live with my uncle and I want to show some results in the coming weeks to let them realize I'm not wasting my time/money.

That said there are other I've been considering that I've seen floating around online.

1. Apps:
Basic idea is get a free app's source code, send it to someone on fiver to reskin. Then put up on google store and buy some reviews from app2top. Take about $100 of investment. Downside is that it's greyhat and app is not guaranteed to do well.\

2. Facebook fan page:
Set up fan page. Set up a promo that requires people to share and like. Make a website in the fan page's niche, then send FB traffic to some adsense.

Seems like a nice start, adsense confirmed accouns take a while to make tho. Might have to buy an already verified one.

3. Udemy:
This one has my interested sparked up for a while now. There's a site where people share fresh udemy courses for free for some initial downloads/reviews to build a healthy reputation then just get passive income. It's almost 0 cost pretty much. Takes a while to make but has less risks. Also I can hire a Filipino VA to do some research (I'm filipino too so even less of a hassle to communicate)

I'm very interested on what your thoughts are on where I should start. I'm open to any suggestion. I'm also not afraid to spend the money as I know ALOT of the interenet marketers had to learn first hand. I also don't buy any "new shiny object" (I did too before, wasted $30). Thoughts?

Edit: I've already been messaged by many MMO sharks who eat newbies like me for money. One of which is kingleo101 who was promising 50% of his company and $200/day. I checked his profile and it seems he has been sending the same message for the past 3 yrs. If you're a noob like me beware of these people.

Edit 2: Thanks for all the replies, lots of good insight

Edit 3: Added TL;DR

TL;DR: I got 1k. Need some basic idea of what are considered needs (aweber, hosting, etc.) and what I should avoid (shiny object, "advanced" apps) and maybe a direction of how to spend it

Take part of it and stick it in your Pocket

Seriously, I would NOT look at it as, "I have 1K to spend what should I do with it "

I would be selective and careful and Educate yourself more.

And do it incrementally. a.k.a go with $100 and invest that first and review your results and go from there.

The internet is a tough gig, but it costs time more than money, $1000 won't buy you enough of another person's work to make money, perhaps you could use it to start your own website, that will pay for a decade of web hosing if you find something really cheap.

If you have built up a following you could try affiliate marketing products from websites like sharasale, amazon or commision junction.

      Thanks for the reply!

It just seemed to me that you can't actually make too much money without spending. I have been one of those "make money with 0 investment" people wen i was in Philippines. Now that I'm in a western country (I got a job for funds) I can focus on things that I wasn't able to back then.

I'm really not trying to blow all the money at once. Just giving an idea of how much I can spend as of now. I see a lot of posts about paid traffic and such so I thought putting my budget would help give people some idea.

Thanks for the insight tho, I appreciate anyone taking some time off their day just to reply

Good advice from discrat there ... that much said, there's a million ways you could go, and three million more ways to spend that money. And most of them will not give you any return.

If I were you I'd find a good mentor or mentoring program or training site and start learning A LOT.

So, you are contemplating taking someone else's work, and trying to game it enough that you can resell as your own? There are so many things wrong with that idea, but the big one is that it is just dumb. There are no assurances it will work/sell, you would have an obligation to support it, you would be competing with others who have more experience/passion/knowledge of it, and, of course, it could get you in trouble/banned from whatever marketplace you want to play in, shutting off future (real) opportunities.

    Don't do it.

What makes you think this has any realistic chance of working, especially without your own product/passion behind it? The IM graveyard is full of people who thought this roadmap was all they needed. It isn't.

    Don't do it (yet).

You aren't clear about how you plan to profit from this, but if it involves anything other than learning from them and putting that wisdom into action for your own product/service/idea, then it is doomed to cause you more grief and failure.

Stop trying to find a way to make money off of the internet. The internet has no money - it is not your customer. Real people, with real needs/wants/desires are your customers, and if you want to make money you'll have to figure out how to offer them something they really want/need/desire.

You are looking for loopholes you can exploit.

    Loophole "marketers" never last long.

Find a product or service people need. Set up a sales funnel and slowly start testing.

if it were my money, I would put it in my pocket and leave it there until I found an almost sure bet to at least break even on any investment I might make with it. that way, you haven't lost your money and you have gained valuable education that could take you to the next step in your plan. tread carefully. the internet is full of wolve's in sheep's clothing ready to fleece you of you hard earned money. my advice: get a tool that everyone needs and sell it. remember the gold rush days? the tool sellers were about the only ones who made any real money.

Get great sales funnel with main offer, 2-3 OTO's, down sells, exit pop up squeeze page to build list at the same time, find affiliates and make money. Offer prizes, create contests for affiliates and they will promote your product with great pleasure. And remember those who are selling courses are making money, but not those who are buying courses. Cheers

What should you do with your $1K?

Get started with something that 'resonates' with you. Now after you find a product to sell, go through all the steps necessary to become successful.

Just keep in mind that just because you have $1K to invest, doesn't mean that just having an initial investment will guarantee your success.

I am sure you are aware of that.

    Take Robert's advice above.

1.) Invest in an autoresponder (aWeber, getresponse)

    Email Marketing | AWeber
Email Marketing Software & Autoresponder from GetResponse

    $20/month I think?

2.) Invest in a domain name and hosting.

How to Make a Website - Step-by-Step Guide for Beginners
    discusses that well.

    Perhaps $200/year?

3.) Make sure you have a Paypal account.
    http://paypal.com

Now you have the ability to build your business online as well as your own lst.

Nothing beats having your own launchpad on the Internet - you can use it in the future to prove you're no fly-by-night. For example, here's my site from 1998.

BUSINESS AND INTERNET RECRUITERS RECRUITING PREMIERE SITE

On your website, you can present yourself as an authority in your niche.

The question is, what niche will work best for you?

Once you answer that, you can install Wordpress

    http://wordpress.org

Decide how you want your site to look:

    http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-themes/...for-wordpress/

    Pick a free theme

    https://wordpress.org/themes/

and go from there. Total spent is less than $500 I think and you still have $500 to invest in your business.

    Hope that helps!

Kindle does take investment but more of your time than money, especially if you are going to write your own books. If you are planning to outsource right from the beginning I can tell you that those who have met with any success worth mentioning have written their own books before they thought of outsourcing.

Getting a cover created and book promotion can be done well within a budget of $1k(in fact much less)

    3. Udemy:
All these options involve a lot of hard work, time, patience and need focus. I have a feeling that you may need to have the proper mindset first, then decide on one thing to focus on, create a plan and then work hard to achieve your goals.

What you need to decide on depends upon what you are good at and what kind of skills sets you have.

SAVE THAT MONEY! DO NOT SPEND IT ON IM.

    1. You have 0% chance of making money online. Just the fact that you have to ask "how" or "what", demonstrates that. Sorry. Also, you're just chasing a shiny object with TeeSpring.

    2. Even if you knew how, which you don't, you'd still have a hard time making money. Let's pull a random number and say 25% success probability. Odds aren't really good even if you had a decent business acumen.

    3. Even if you knew how, which again, you don't, $1000 is nothing, and certainly wouldn't get you far anyway.

Seeing how you don't know how to make money online, and you don't have much money to work with...the last thing you want to do is spend it chasing pipe dreams.

Do yourself a favor and save your money. If you're working a job, be thankful. Save your money. If you're in school, then take it seriously. That's the best advice you're going to get on this forum.

You don't need $1k to launch. And $1k isn't enough to launch, and make $5,000/month within the next 30 days either. Take your time and learn internet marketing. Stop looking for the *secret*, because the "secret" is all over this forum.
