bulk email vps smtp

Hi everyone!

I'm planning for a cheap solution to send bulk email from paid lists. The problem is that I can't be sure that the list is 100% clean.
To protect myself I'm going for an external smtp solutions with multiple accounts.

So sending about 500-1000 e-mails from my VPS smtp I think is very risky. I don't want to lose my VPS.

Creating a couple of hotmail, gmail and yahoo and use SMTP is better but I'm not sure how safe that is.

Is there anything that I should know before I proceed with this?

    Why not use a 3rd party service to do that for you?

    There are many bulk email services that manage all that stuff so you don't have to.

    I don't know. I'm rather protective with my list. I don't want to give out the list without knowing what is happening on the other end.
