How can I validate ideas online?

Hey,

let's say I have got a great idea but I am not sure if something similar is already out there.
How do you guys validate such ideas without hours of research?

In the past I had a lot of ideas which I started working on until realizing somebody else had this idea before or nobody wanted it. That's why I am thinking about creating a platform for idea validation..

Beforehand I wanted to ask you experts for your best tricks and if there was already such a site.
Would you use such a service which allows you to validate ideas quickly?

Thanks, Xindas

    Google is your only friend.

    No gain without pain. Any business has to be thoroughly researched before starting up if you want to give it every chance of success.

      Hi there, first of all thank you very much for your reply!

      While I get your point, I think that researching is too painful for people/entrepreneurs who have got many ideas especially when starting out. If you have to validate many ideas against each other, it takes a long time.

      Here is my concept:
      Some platform like UserTesting where you pay "beermoney" to users who rate your idea and show you similar sites...
      I think this would help a lot...

    Research = / = Validation.

    Sales = Validation.

    The only confirmation is results. Or lack of results heh heh.

    Consider the size of the opportunity you're working on.

    Set a budget...time, money...to figuring out whether you can get a paying customer with this idea.

    Keep in mind the first and second customers are almost always the hardest to get. You learn a lot in this phase if you're paying attention. Apply the sense of this to your budget.

    Are people already buying the thing? That's a good sign.

    Do people easily understand the thing? That's another good sign.

    Check the traffic of competitor sites using similarweb and see where there sources are.

    Use your keyword planner.

    Get in front of potential buyers with your offer. Run your budget...see the results. Don't change things every five seconds...stick with a setup so you can accumulate meaningful data. Three days or a dozen clicks doesn't mean anything yet.

    Most people give up far too soon--after about three days.
