Default business in writing articles for others?

Hello all,

Is there a business opportunity for creating content articles in a particular niche?

I am knowledgeable in technology that is used by local service business. Is there a market for writing technical and other articles to sell to this segment?

I have noticed that a lot of the businesses in this area don't have much content on their website despite being in a very information rich industry.

The process I want to follow is this:

1) limit the distribution to one business per city
2) send 5 articles per month for $50-60/month
3) rewrite the articles so that they are all unique to each customer (I may send the same article to 100 people but they will be all rewritten)
4) the customer can incorporate their own information and rewrite the article a second time

These are not generic articles, they are more technical and require knowledge of the industry.

I suppose I could write unique articles for only one business and charge them $300 per article but I could they could afford it. And even if the articles are not 100% unique I am only providing it to only one local business per city and they will not be competing against each other.

Is this a viable business or are there something wrong with it?

Thanks.

It's an option; the problem is the buyers. Unless you have quality stuff, people aren't going to want to buy those articles that expensive, and they will probably want laser targeted articles with exceptional SEO if that. I suppose if you wrote a great article on something really complicated it might be worth $300, but you'd have to market it well.

I think you misunderstood.

If I wrote a unique article for a single business (not PLR) then I would have to charge about $300.

What I want is to send 5 rewritten articles per month for $50-60/month. These articles are pretty complicated but rewritten and sent to only one business per city. They are free to add/remove content they see as irrelevant and rewrite it again.

So they get the material for 5 articles per month for $50-60 per month.

I think you have an advantage as a writer if you have expertise in a particular niche, it sets you apart from other writers. Being a vet, I stick to writing about what I know and it's working well. How widespread is your niche?

I can't comment on your business model, because I don't know your niche, but what you're essentially offering is essentially plr with a very limited distribution indeed. I think the other potential limitation is that these offline businesses may not appreciate the benefit of well written articles and a good web presence.

What would it cost to give it a try? The time taken to write half a dozen articles and market them to businesses? Do you have the time to invest to try it out?

If you want to write technical articles, then you will find websites who hire writers and pay up to $1,000 for a 400 word article. But, if you are a specialist, then don't limit yourself to writing articles. Website owners will pay $300 for web content, and they will pay a lot more for good quality writing.

I have noticed that these (really most businesses) don't put much content on their sites. Yet they seem to really want more customers and I think the reason they are not is that they lack the time and energy to spend writing.

Writing is difficult. You have to think of good topics, research content, and then write content. Most people are not able to do this on a regular basis.
