New Video: Tony Robbins Talks w/Frank Kern & John Reese

I just happened across this video on Tony Robbins site today.

Frank and John visit with him in San Diego and discuss the problem of marketers who buy IM products and don't ever take action. I found this to be a superb video and Tony's recipe for solving this problem is one worth seeing (and replaying again).

Interview with Frank Kern and John Reese

It was lame and the 'king on the throne' talking to the minions on the couch aspect was not lost on me.

They are all lovely guys but Frank lost his charisma in this one and John looks stressed.

    They are fame chasing?

Well, wasn't this supposed to be an interview? I mean, Robbins is great at some things but as an interviewer he kind of sucks since he talks over 90% of the time. :-) A good interviewer should let his guests talk a bit more don't you think?

Strange, I didn't think it was suppose to be an interview. You say Kern and Reese call him up asking Robbins for help. Not a interview.

Lol, that is exactly what I think This wasn't an interview, only one question in the beginning, but after that only Tony spoke.

        However, worth watching.

Some could say the same thing about you James. Sorry, but your post comes across very badly almost to the point of jealousy.

I think the problem that they tried to tackle is extremely important. It is the only thing that keeps people from succeeding. It isn't necessarily about selling more stuff to anyone. They tapped into a resource that is known throughout the world for helping others break through those barriers, Tony Robbins.

Besides, why does anyone have to be charismatic in every video in order to get the point across?

Lame? ...I guess it's all in the beholders eye.

I'm not even a big fan of Robbins, or Reese or Kern...but my instinct just told me if all three are together I might get a good idea or two.

I wasn't really focusing on how they were sitting on the couch or Tony's 'power' positioning - I just wanted to hear his ideas.

Kern (whose wardrobe stylist must have been on vacation) was admittedly quiet, (I would be too) but I thought Reese added to the dialogue. But it was Tony being interviewed, not the other way around, anyway.

I remember Dan Kennedy, who shared the stage with TR for years on the Peter Lowe rallies, often implying that Tony's ego was not pretty.
So do you get to Robbins level being a wallflower?

Anyway, I still feel this was one of the best videos I've seen in awhile. Very concise and specifically addressing a question asked, not wandering all over the place....if it was posted before, I wasn't aware of it.

James, I've been meaning to send you a note anyway. Your advice earlier this year to unsubscribe emails of marketers who never send anything of value/content has been one of the best productivity tools I've learned this year - bar none. Thank you.

      I feel you man.

It's all about "building more desire". The only valuable thing I've heard is to remember to ask yourself "why am I diong this?"

The rest is first-class persuation to buy from them - it is not like there is something bad in it by itself.... but to take it very seriously, c'mon

It's like magazine that you read to more and more realize that you are "not worthy"... look at his huge house. I'm a loser because I don't have it.

What a pitty, becuase this house doesn't make you happy. The process of doing the right thing will. This why "why?" is so important.

  • Good video.

I think some people are turned off by Tony Robbins without having really listened to his stuff. I used to be. But the guy has become pretty expert at understanding the psychological aspects of drive and success - and failure.

That 4-box thing, "potential >> action >> results >> beliefs", which is one of his central 'themes', is right on the money.

I don't quite understand some of the criticisms here - Frank and John went to Robbins, not the other way around. They are interviewing him.

Can always take nuggets of knowledge from Anthony Robbins - and as many of us know, one simple distinction can trigger a breakthrough. When and from where will that simple distinction come?

I guess I think it's an interview of John and Frank because it's on Tony's site and it says an interview with John and Frank. Plus, Tony asks the questions and is in control of the conversation. It's obvious to me he is the interviewer, not the other way around. Anyways, to me it was a good video, I would just have liked to hear more from Frank and John.

That's a great video for any internet marketer.

Watch closely and there's some stealth tips about writing sales copy buried in Tony's Red Bull fueled rants.

The whole lesson of the vid is about developing certainty. In terms of a laser-focus for when you're marketing to people, it's a very useful tool. You want to give folk as much certainty as possible. And not just through testimonials and proof elements...

In your sales copy... you can hint at... gently remind... people about their past peak performances. About a time in their past when they took action and it worked out great. Even the biggest "downer" in the world has one time in their life when things worked out well. It's just one way to ease folk into that peak "action-ready" state Tony talks about.

As an aside... I always remember reading that for years and years when he had to make an important shot for the Bulls... Michael Jordan would think back to when he swished the game winner for the Tar Heels in the 1981 NCAA championship.

All that hocus pocus seemed to work for Mike.

What gives me pause is that Kern and Reese went to Tony Robbins looking for answers not on 'how to sell more' but for answers on 'how to help more people take what we sell and use it'.

I try to keep track of a few of who I consider to be 'reputable' marketers. A recurring theme among many of them is that so few people actually put to use the information that they've paid for. It's impressive to me that there are some people out there who actually want to do good for others - yes, they may charge for what they know but they also want people to take what they learn and make their lives better.

Great video and content. I think the basketball free throw
study Tony referred to was also in The New Psycho-Cybernetics

while attempting the shots. So I know this 'trick' works.

I read Robbins first book at the start of this year and read some of his larger Personal power book.

I've lately been reading about NLP, Milton Erickson therapy and Robbins work is based on those things.

In fact his interview is very similar to description of an NLP therapy session.

For instance Robbins asks Reese what it was like to make a million in a day - what that meant to them - by talking about that he makes him feel some of that again.

That is what NLP therapiests do - bring up good feelings and then move anchors of bad experiences.

You see this in action where he gets them to stand up and point further - it is something akin to a hypnosos reframing/reanchoring technique. You may not believe in hypnosis so call it what you want.

But if you read Kern's course you can see how he got a lot of ideas by reading/following Robbins about pyschology, selling etc. And now I'm starting to see how Robbins got his ideas from the NLP movement in the 1970's.

It's all really fascinating stuff. But you are actually watching Robbins do a coaching session with them. This is what I'm sure some famous people pay him big bucks for. I'm sure they left here inspired - not just you from watching - but them too.

Even here it is interesting ot see how people respond in their posts - some people are helped by the message this video presents and inspired by it - while a few do not hear the message and decide to judge them by body posture and so forth - either because the message bores them, they think they don't need it, or they don't like them due to jeolousy or who knows what.

When I frist watched it I focused on the content of what they are saying.

Then after reading I here I watched the video itself, how they filmed it, how they are sitting and all that and then thinking about the NLP stuff and Robbins- how he interacts with them.

Who cares if you "like" someone or not. That has nothing to do with a process that works or not.

Is it a fact that Tony, John, and Frank started out in a similar place as a lot of other folks here? If so, then is it true that they did something that changed their situation from broke to millionaires? When they say that the difference is the mindset that they chose, do you believe them?

If you could answer yes to those questions, then why worry about liking someone or their personalities?

Take the information and do something with it.

Many years ago I had a mailman I couldn't stand but that didn't stop me from reading my mail.

I thought it was a fantastic video. Frank and John wisely took the Rock's advice to know their role and shut their mouths. The only thing that Tony doesn't say about his brilliant "circle of success" is that you can actually adjust ANY of the variables and it will affect all of them.

So you don't have to start with beliefs. If you take massive action, in spite of having no belief, you will still get massive results which will feed back into your beliefs. The thing is a circle and you can enter it at any point.

Great video. 20+ years later I still recommend "Unlimited Power" to anyone struggling to find success.

BTW - this is what NLP style therapy looks like. This is a vietnam veteran with traumatic flashbacks.

The idea is to bring up memories - the way you think of things - and create new anchors with positive thoughts. Robbins did a bit of this in the interview by asking them to recall how it felt to make their first money in IM.

And Kern is using NLP style presuppositions in all of his videos. But NLP came out of therapies like this.

Robbins work is based on this NLP stuff.

Watch this guy analyze this Kern video:

Seriously, everyone should be eating this stuff up...I have done this twice in my life where I've written down firm sets of goals and spent time everyday visualizing those goals - to the point of being obsessed over them. These were lifestyle, personal development and business/financial goals. In both cases every one of these goals has come true.

Further I coach dozens of people each week and I constantly am amazed at the types of things that will hold people back. I'm not trying to say that to be a smart ass...it's just that some of the things I hear stopping progress I would look at as a tiny obstacle (I started from scratch too) and get past it with hardly a thought.

It's only when I see people who create all kinds of obstacles - obstacles that in other cases would never stop someone from succeeding do I really see the truth in what Tony, John and Frank are talking about.

BTW - who gives a crap about what these guys look like, act like or respond like in this video.

IF that's all you took out of this video then you may as well move on and do something else in your life - you won't succeed running your own business.

From what I saw this was suppose to be a solution. Tony Robbins was attempting to provide Frank and John with some insight on how to get the people who purchase their products to actually use them and be successful. It was more of a ploy to help provide inspiration to customers of John and Frank.

IF you model their(John and Frank) behaviors, through the products they provide then you are more likely to achieve some form of success then if you attempt to start from scratch and create your own form of success.

IF that's all you took out of this video then you may as well move on and do something else in your life - you won't succeed running your own business.

        Jeff
Jeff... Totally agree. I personally am eating this video up myself. There is much to learn here.

It matters... Kern and Reese are gods to some the kids on this forum and it's obvious they were out-of-place with TR. Just watch them "hug" Tony. Tony is all about it.. and these guys act like the hugging the aunt with H1N1. If Kern is suppose to the "expert" as Tony suggested, he should have sat up and shared some valuable insights.

Mike Koenigs has set these guys up to work together and get exposure from Tony. Mike is also the force behind Tony's video marketing efforts.

Some planning and practice should have gone into this video. Tony audience will NOT be impressed by these display of lack of enthusiasm or awkward video.

In fairness, the entire premise of the video was that Frank and John were going to Tony to get an answer to something they couldn't answer themselves, they stipulated this on the "phone call".

Sure the first couple of minutes were a little awkward but it got it's feet from then on. I wasn't expecting to hear much from Frank & John, they were the guests at the TR show .

I think any more practise would have made this thing wooden as hell, infact the bit which clearly was practised , pretty much up to walking into the hotel room was by far and away the most cheesy.

They should have started it from in the hotel room, with a "Were here with Tony Robbins and a big question"..

I thought it was pretty good, and I'm a sceptical sonofabeatch.

Why do people "not" take action?

      It is a fair question.

My answer before seeing the video was, "People don't take action because they are not sure if the action will work". They don't want to waste time or money on an uncertainty.

Ironically, this is why IMHO a person will take a $7.00 job because they know if they put in 40 hours then they will gross $280. They will do this at a dead end job that will be physically hard. So all of these folks are not lazy. Although it could be argued that they have a lazy mindset.

The mannerisms of John or Frank was the least thing on my mind. What I took away was the 4 square diagram that represents how "Belief Systems Work". It fully explains the cliché that the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

It's worth watching for that reason alone.

Exactly FG - in fact, it even goes further than "they don't take action because they are afraid of failing" - it is often that they have already convinced themselves they WILL fail and thus don't even allow anywhere near their true potential to focus on the goal.

Really is crazy when you think about it - but it's so much of human nature.

The squares was my favorite part as well. I watched it again so I could take notes on the squares and now have a sheet of paper that says potential->action->results->belief on my desk

That video is brilliant on so many levels.

First of all, the 4 square thing (potential-action-results-beliefs) is one hundred percent true. That is definetely the reason why people don't take action.

Second, this is a pre-launch video for a new Tony Robbins product. Those who have Mass Control will understand what these guys are doing here.

Frank and John are highly recognized and respected gurus. These gurus ask Tony Robbins for advice. This puts Tony Robbins in the ultimate guru position (the guru giving advice to other gurus). They are giving him tremendous social proof and authority.

They are also creating desire with the BMW and all the luxury of the hotel.

        Brilliant stuff.

          Hi Everyone,

I'm really glad so many people are getting a lot from this video. I certainly got a TON out of spending the day with Tony. There's a 2nd video coming soon (2-3 days?) that is just Tony and I talking - he's more or less interviewing me this time about some things.

I just wanted to chime in on a few things that were said above about me in regards to me not being happy or showing no emotion, etc. Obviously, I don't 'have' to defend myself and even address these comments, but I'd like to.

Most people that know of me don't really know much about me. I mean on a personal level. And I just thought I'd share some things (for whatever it's worth) for those that even care...

I am extremely INTROVERTED and am a borderline recluse at times. There's a reason some of my close friends lovingly call me "Howard Hughes." I am also a very PRIVATE person. On top of all that, I grew up as an extremely SHY kid. From age 10+ I was a hacker that spend the majority of his life behind a computer. While other kids were out playing and going to the arcade and to the mall, I was spending quality time with my keyboard and 1200 baud Hayes modem.

Because of these things, for much of my life I have been SOCIALLY AWKWARD. Hey, it's just who I am and how things worked out. I'm still working at improving it but it is what it is. When I am around really close friends I can be a completely different, outgoing person. But I still struggle at times with crowds of strangers and people I don't know very well.

There's a reason no one saw photos of for me online for nearly 7+ years. That stupid Auction Secrets headshot of me with the shiny blue shirt (and the often badly photoshopped hair when someone tries to edit that photo) is one of the only photos people saw of me for YEARS. Then slowly but surely I put a few more online or others did.

I also haven't been on video much by choice. It's just... well... WEIRD for me. I'm trying to get better at it and really WANT to do more videos and stuff, it's just something I have to get over. I hope to start putting out more videos in the near future.

Anyone that ever saw me on a panel at a seminar knows that many people would often ask others, "Why is John Reese so angry?" Heh. It's not that I'm angry or unhappy... I'm just an INTENSE person. That 'stressed' look you often see on my face is simply INTENSITY. My brain is busy processing things a million miles a second. I suffer from extreme ADD and when someone is talking to me I really have to focus intently or my mind will wander.

There's a reason I don't do the "seminar circuit." I could probably make another million or two a year just doing a lot of speaking. As I said, I don't do well with crowds and strangers. Now don't get me wrong, I have enjoyed giving the few speeches and presentations that I have (because I love to teach) but seminars are ROUGH for me. One, because selling from the stage is not my thing (I just don't feel comfortable doing it) and two, because I'm introverted and get a little weirded-out when tons of people start coming up to me.

So as far as me not smiling or whatever, I honestly am not thinking about that when I'm trying to stay focused and listen to someone (as well as process what they are saying). But I actually AM trying to work on this and smile more. I do take those comments as constructive criticism. It's just a tough battle against who you naturally are -- I'm sure I'm not the only one that has a lot of these traits that I've just described.

          Continuing on...

I have seen you take several 'shots' like this at me before, and I don't blame you one bit, you're entitled to your opinion and comments. But while I'm in the 'expressive' mood and sharing all this personal stuff about myself, I might as well continue and share some things with you that you probably don't know about...

For much of the past 3 years or so I went through some major personal challenges. I lost my only brother and my grandmother that I was very close to. I also lost one of my closest friends (that I had known since childhood) to cancer. And on top of that I, personally, went through some health issues.

So the big 'mystery' behind why I didn't create more products and complete more projects (as well as why some of my big projects got delayed) is simple... I DIDN'T FEEL LIKE IT.

I had a lot of other issues that to me took up more of my life and were more important than making more money. So I went through a long stretch of not creating a lot of new stuff and not progressing some of the projects that I had started. In a nutshell... I LOST MY PASSION for my business. Those other things were just weighing so heavily on me, and like I just mentioned, struggling from severe ADD makes it nearly impossible to focus on any work at all when every few seconds the mind starts thinking about these other deep, personal things. I would literally become mentally PARALYZED and just couldn't make myself do any work.

Anyway, moving on... didn't mean to turn this thread into a 'downer'... I just thought I'd clear the air about some things once and for all. Not that it's anyone's business, but just because I wanted to share them as maybe others can relate.

The moral of the story... life is a work in progress. We all have major stuff to deal with throughout our lives, and for the past few years I've dealt with my own share. I am happy to say, though, that I'm past all of that now and GOT MY FIRE BACK for my business. And now I'm finally getting back to work and moving forward with my projects.

To whoever actually made it this far, thanks for listening.

              Hi davebo,

I think John has explained the issue you are referncing in your post here. John doesn't just run products, he runs projects (such as opportunity.com). I don't see anything wrong with him talking up an up-coming project that him and his team are working on. It's a great way to build up buzz, and it was obvious it was something John was passionate about.

Unfortunately, some incredibly tragic circumstances arose which prevented these projects being completed or coming to fruition on time. I think the last thing that would have been on John's mind (or mine) was how he raised some people's expectations. If those people haven't paid John anything for the future products (or whoever it is) then John or anyone in his position owes "everyone" absolutely nothing. It's not like he was being lazy, he came up against some incredibly difficult challenges in his personal life, and he has gone above and beyond the call of duty to explain this here on a very public forum.

Davebo, you said yourself you have not been in the same position as John, so it's difficult for you to suggest what should and shouldn't be done. But my 2 cents on the issue is, you shouldn't let what John is doing bother you. You'll make more money worrying about what you are doing.

I don't mean to come off as confrontational, but your post struck me as a bit insensitive and I feel your last remarks in your post were un-needed. I think that this kind of un-needed criticism might be what keeps the bigger business people in our industry away from the forums. That and it would eat too much into their schedule.

I am not saying that what you said is totally wrong, but I am questioning whether it needed saying. Again, nothing personal, just presenting an alternative view on it.

Originally Posted by davebo View Post

The only issue I've ever had with you is the promises of all the things coming out. I still respect you and will continue to follow you. Me personally, I would not announce a particular product until you actually have it complete. I'm not sure how I would take being in the spotlight like you, so I personally would try to avoid it if possible. And I think the easiest way to avoid it is by not raising people's expectations of what's coming down the pipeline. Just my 2cents.

Everybody has barriers. They can be in many areas. Self confidence, intimacy, self expression, etc.

We are all concerned with looking silly in most areas of life. So by getting up and jumping and yelling you break that barrier down a little bit.

Once you break through this barrier you now have a new level of self expression available in ALL areas of life

So the next time you sit down to do a video you are less self conscious. Because you have expanded your ability to confront your fear of looking silly.

If it inspired you, it worked!
If it stirred & upset you - it still awakened you - it worked.

This is an issue!! We block success & return products.
That doesn't help anyone. This will be an important factor in info marketing going forward.

The video was slightly damaging to all parties

Tonies ego & charisma & aggressive flow as little dated - as is NLP, but it still works I guess. It's manipulation, gets the sale but misses the mark...

Follow up, follow through, follow forward. That's heart

At least Robbins didn't go the mlm route : )

    By the way,
This was Tony creating an info product and serving himself
We just happen to be shooting?

Let's make authenticity paramount - that's the true power of video
Be Genuine authentic & real. Have fun & let go you will get over nervousness. Also many focus almost entirely on camtasia with brief head & video shots. Carry the tone & persona - even passion in your tone

People need to group users with complimentary skill i.e. copy, technical, graphic, content, niche expertise or interest etc.

Thought I'd share - these are models of success who have had influenced entire industries

Good reminder to revisit some of your early inspirational leaders

Kennedy with Psycho Cybernetics knew - still a visionary.

I don't think any of those guys are visionaries - including TR

The last time I saw someone act like John Reese did in that video, it was a guy that normally didn't smoke weed who just smoked some really good weed.

Not that I think Reese or Kern or Robbins would ever do such a thing. I'm just sayin'.

This video certainly inspired me to dust off my old copy of "Awaken The Giant Within" and other Robbins audios purchased in 1992. I remember going to a 3 day Robbins workshop called Breakthrough that had a major impact on my life.

It's REALLY cool to see Frank Kern and John Reese with Tony Robbins because I've studied and applied their stuff at different times within my life and ALL of these guys have made a major impact in my life to get to the next stage of evolution one way or another.

It's really tough NOT to take massive action when I listen to Robbins. I'm dusting off and pulling out Frank Kern's stuff again to apply more aspects of his Mass Control Monthly course I purchased several months ago.

Whenever I do coaching online I make sure the mindset is in place or at least acknowledged first before moving forward with anything else...

      Cheers,
      Dean

      Hi,

I know it's not cool to talk about the people and the way they react, rather than the methods etc...

And I'm probably not the biggest guru fan in the room...

But I feel I have to say, I reckon that the reason John Reese looks so uncomfortable in these situations is probably because he's just a really decent, genuine bloke and being around all of these snake-oil purveyors is not his scene.

Yeah, perhaps being around them gives him a bit of a 'whitey'. I would probably be the same.

I like genuine people. I don't feel comfortable around chameleons. Perhaps he'd gain more ground if he 'embraced himself' and connected with the 'real people' in the 'trenches'. But who am I to comment? Only publicly visible shakers and movers have the right...or perhaps putting yourself out there on video is inviting reaction.

Just a thought that's often occurred to me.

One of the things I really credit Tony with is helping me to take passionate action on the things that were most important in my life.

After getting a invite to his Date With Destiny event in late 2007, my personal and business life transformed radically.

During the week long event, we had a few moments where we wrote down all the goals we wanted to accomplish in our lives. The purpose was to just write down anything you could think of that you wanted to do and keep writing.

Well, I took out that piece of paper yesterday and the results were very interesting to me.

While I didn't achieve the goals of hitting a home run in Petco park, or installing a bowling lane in my house, or buy my parents their retirement home (Yet), I did enjoy seeing that many of the things I had on my list have been accomplished.

I tell you these things below not to brag, but rather to illustrate that if you actually take the time to "write down your goals" and apply massive action, you can get just about anything you want.

For instance, here are some of the things on my list that I've achieved since that Date With Destiny event... (most relationship goals removed, but many of them were fulfilled)

        1. Find my dream girl to apply all that I learned at DWD (Done)
        2. Buy a beach front house in San Diego (I haven't bought a home yet, but am leasing a multi million dollar beach home for me and the lady)
        3. Have a billiard room (Done)
        4. Grow my hair to my shoulders (Done)
        5. Make a million dollars in 2008 (I didn't quite make it, but I did make more money then I ever had in my life. And it's even better in 2009)
        6. Beat Guitar Hero (Done)
        7. Get over fear of flying (I've flown to Maui for Kern's Plastermind, Chicago for Eben's Green Room event, Portland Oregon for vacation, and flew with Marshall Sylver in private plane to Filsaime's Launch Tree) - (Done)
        8. Join a softball team (Done) (Actually started playing with one of Tony's sales guy who's been with him for nearly 20 years)
        9. Hire a personal assistant (Done)
        10. Get better at Photoshop (Bought a photoshop site just to learn better) (Done)
        11. Get Technic 1200's turntables (Done)
        12. Play more with my dog (Done)
        13. Wake up at 6 am (Don't always make it up that early, but getting much better)
        14. Travel to Wrigley Field (Done)
        15. Get in touch with god (Done)

I was really stoked to read this page in my booklet and to see that I had accomplished all of those things. Of course there are many things on the list that I haven't fulfilled yet, but I'm working on them.

Some of the unfinished, but started goals were...

        1. Remodel my home in Oregon (Got started)
        2. Publish a book (Did get published once, and have another book totally wrote just needs to be printed)
        3. Dunk a basketball (I did buy a trampoline so I could start to jump higher)
        4. Get six pack abs (I am in the best shape of my life)
        5. Catch a barrel surfing (Still missing this one, but got the closest in my life about two weeks ago.)

...and then there's about 30 other things that I've yet to fulfill. Stuff like opening a Vegan restaurant and buying my parents a retirement home,

But I'm confident that someday I'll achieve just about everything on my list and then some.

And I have to admit, a lot of the encouragement to achieve these things came from good ol Tony Robbins.

        Thanks dude.

Nice one Jason! No household should be without a pair of SL1200's.

Yeah, I watched the video yesterday also. Really impressed! This is something I seriously need to start doing again because I know it works.

When I was a lot younger, there would always be music gear I was after. There was this one $5000 Kurzweil synthesizer I wanted pretty badly. All I had was a crappy photocopied brochure of it, but I would constantly be looking at that brochure all the time, double checking the specs, thinking about what I would be doing with it once I had it. At the time I was broke working in a factory job. But some how within 2 months I had bought that synthesizer. I'm still amazed at how I managed to pay for it with the $150/week job I had at the time. I'd sold some of my older gear to raise more money, stopped going out, and hustled for a better deal at the music store. And that's not the only time.

So the technique definitely works and having your desires or goals on paper, even a list, really works. Which is something that video reminded me I haven't done for quite some time... Better get that sorted out..

Tony changed my life. Sort of. Actually the guy who changed my life is Dr. Mike Mandel who spoke at my university back in 1993 when I was an undergrad in 2nd year. He did a seminar that taught basic NLP. I asked him for his "reading list" after the seminar and top of the list was "Unlimited Power" by Tony Robbins. Un-freaking-real how awesome that book has been. Then I started to learn more about NLP and Ericksonian Hypnosis. Then finally in the early 2000s I trained with Dr. Mandel in Ericksonian Hypnosis and also formally as an NLP practitioner. This stuff is *not* snake oil in any way shape or form. It's about how to run your own brain.

I've done plenty of Tony Robbins programs over the years, and I have written down goals several times. Every time I go back and re-read my list I'm SHOCKED at how much I've accomplished.

    Hi John,

    Thanks for writing.

I think that is pretty darn brave of you and I don't think you need to tell people all that. I do think people would pay for a product where you talk about overcoming that mental paralysis and the issues around it.

I think more people have those issues than you might think.

On another note, I really don't understand why you bother answering people who are just having a pop shot at you, be it Twitter, Facebook or here. Just ignore them and don't le them affect you.

On a personal note, I really want to hear more about the video store / 911 incident

      Hey Steve,

      Thanks for the kind words.

The reason I get 'sucked in' to answering people (and it's something I'm trying to get over to just ignore them) is that I'm SENSITIVE, unfortunately. Probably goes along with the shy thing and how I developed. It's hard for me not to take it personally when people bash me. It's stupid, I know, but sometimes I let it bother me.

Ahh, the video store. What a crazy chapter in my life that was. I was being paid $7/hour to manage a store that one of the owners sons was getting $40K/year for to do the same job. And people there always made fun of me when I talked about by big dreams. I think some of them thought I was mentally disturbed. It was quite the vindication when I pulled up in that 911 that I had always talked about when I working there and dead broke. I wish I had a video of that moment so I could rewatch it a million times.

Damn it, Paul, quit giving away my secrets. OKAY OKAY time to come clean... what most people see of 'me' is really just a hologram. Paul's photo proves it. That's why I look like Princess Leia in her holographic message. The truth is, I was hurt in a horrible accident trying to discover cold fusion and I lost everything but my head. That's all that's left and keeping 'me' alive. My head is connected to a special machine in my home. I usually just do meetings with other people via videoconferencing and that's the only time they see the real me - or at least just my head which is all I have.

TO PROVE THIS... Now I don't mean to creep anyone out, but if you look very closely at the TV in the background you will actually see the real me (my face) being broadcast to that meeting room - while my 'body' is being holographically transmitted to that room which is the blur image you see.

Glad I'm not alone James, the intro with the " we were just passing" (and happened to have a camera in our car , felt horribly contrived.

John looked positively awkward in the initial stages with the whole " come and sit on my knee" stuff.

Past some of those issues which repeated themselves, I thought it was a good video that will install a little get up and go in people , can't be a bad thing.

I personally hate the rar-rar stuff, but I do like Robbins, can't help myself. He just seems like a decent human being who god forbid want's to make a buck or two.

Same with Frank, the king of video for my money but this wasn't his shining moment, it just didn't quite feel right but all in all, if you look past that, which you should, folks got a decent video for free that if you actually take on board, may well help a few people push themselves out of a rut.

Watching how Robbins commands a room , turning even the most experienced guys in their field , essentially into doting school children also tells us a number of lessons we can learn from.

We should be thankful to Frank and to some degree John, as these guys are pulling in huge names from outside of the IM market and bringing us their beneficial content.

Be interesting, now we are cookied to see what the actual long term sell is, guess it's coming soon.

For sure, absolutely, both John and Frank went there for a reason and taking the limelight and interupting wasn't high on the priority list, but equally the body language, facial expressions and so forth all tell a tale and that's one of how extremely good TR is at commanding a room and being "the man", even when in the company of some pretty talented folk.

I didn't even think of this aspect of it but this is a good point. I talk to lots of people who hate the fact that when they tell people they're an Internet Marketer, they're eyeballed as if they're either a Spam or Porn king - because if it's online, it MUST be one of those two, right?

Bringing a name like Tony Robbins into the mix who everyday housewives and husbands know and respect could bring more legitimacy to the biz. Thanks for sharing that insight with me!

I thought you looked really good in the video! I noticed that when others speak you really listen to them and seem to be very interested in what they are saying. This is a good thing!

Do you realize the people that put you down are just jealous?

You are handsome, rich and on a video with Tony Robbins! Ignore these people. They need to get a life.

You did not look sad, you looked involved and interested. You made great comments and I think you are a very real person.

Life is hard and we all go through very difficult times. You are showing great courage in telling others about your struggles. We all struggle and it is nothing to hide.

Thanks for being you - stop trying to change.

        Warmly,

          Hi John,

I agree with Donna. I didn't think you looked sad or anything like that. You
looked well, INTENSE as you pointed out. You were intensely engaged and
looked like you were really trying to take something away from the meeting.
You do look a bit shy and seemed to find it hard to express yourself, but
mostly, you looked very interested in what Frank and Tony had to say.

I also would like to congratulate you on having the balls to come forward and
express yourself here on the forum. Even though I agree with the others that
you really didn't NEED to do so. But I think it shows that you are just another
guy living his life the best he knows how. You seem to be a very down to
earth dude who hasn't let the millions go to your head making you think you
          are better than everyone else.

I personally thought the video was awesome too. Sure, it's not some Brand
NEW, ground breaking information that hasn't already been said. BUT it is
good stuff that continues to hold true even if the naysayers don't like it.
In fact, some of the comments here prove the video to be right. You can see
the skeptics making excuses and finding things wrong with the video instead
of taking something away from it, learning the process taught, allowing their
potential to blossom, applying the new knowledge by taking action, getting
results and believing with a certainty that they can and WILL succeed.

I think it's awesome how you were determined to get that 911 Porche even
when you were working at a movie rental store at $7/hr. It's even more
awesome that you told your boss that one day you would drive up in your
Porche to drop off some movies for HIM to take care of and put back on the
shelves and then you actually DID it. That is truly awesome and empowering.

I've recently decided that one day I WILL own a Tesla Motors Roadster and
have been telling everyone that will listen about this awesome new car I
plan to be driving in the near future. The Price starts at $128,500 here in the
United States so most people think I'm a total whacko even entertaining the
idea. I don't blame them for their skepticism considering the fact that I
currently live in the ghetto and own a vehicle with a value of less than $1000,
which also happens to be sitting in my driveway broke down.

However, I am convinced that I WILL break down any barriers I have and
WILL be driving that Roadster. I simply refuse to allow the skeptics to bring
me down to their way of thinking. That Roadster WILL be mine. Some how,
some way, I will make it happen. I can already see myself driving it through
the mountains, enjoying the fact that I don't have to put gas in it since it's
          100% electric powered.

This video just helped me to reinforce my visions and kick any skepticism
          out of my mind.

          Thanks for sharing Bruce!

Also, I remember when John had that Million Dollar day and everyone was
bashing him here at the warrior forum. Even still, John came in and faced the
crowd and was as humble as ever. You are a true inspiration John. I like to
see everyday people turn around and make boatloads of money and still be
a regular guy w/o the huge ego trip, demanding people to bow down. LOL

I think it's awesome that Frank and John care enough about their customers
to get in touch with Tony to help them to better understand why people are
not taking action so they can better teach their customers HOW to overcome
their skepticism and learn to take ACTION!

Good work guys, keep it up. I look forward to the next episode.

      Excellent video!

I love the whole issue about staying in "peak state".

I know this is true for me, because I am always amazed at what I am capable of achieving when I am in that state.

The real challenge for me sometimes is just trying to stay in that zone, especially when you got life throwing everything possible your way.

At the end of the day, the most important thing it is not the nature of the circumstance or situation, but your response. You can control your response, but you can't control the circumstance.

I also mused alot on the idea of "certainty" or "belief". For me, this is CRUCIAL in any and every undertaking! Someone gave an example earlier in this thread saying, many people easily find $7 jobs because they believe in that level of potential in them, and they KNOW it is going to work for them.
So, imagine having a belief in your potential, and having that certainty that the next course you order, will be help you succeed even beyond the author's intent.

I l really enjoy videos like these, I love success stories, I love inspirational stories of comeback or triumph over adversity!

John, I really enjoyed your video store anecdote. I can relate to this story in alot of different ways. Thanks for sharing this!

    Hi John,

Thank you for your forthright comments.

I enjoyed the video and even being a bit of a cynic at times regarding "sales" and "prelaunch" videos I did find it contained some gems.

I have bought a couple of your courses in the past and have taken some action and found them worthwhile. Like most people I could always do more and getting motivated can be hard sometimes, especially when one is in a "comfort zone".

I'm not sure if the video was scripted (I would expect it to have been, why not) and one time I'm sure I saw Tony mouthing the words you were saying at the exact same time you were saying them.

I don't know whether this was Tony's ultra alertness or whether he was remembering his lines :-)

I look forward to seeing the rest of the vids and congrats for taking some time off for more life important tasks then just making money.

Regarding being an introvert, it is definitely something that anyone can overcome. One step at a time. Make it a must that you will change it and you will...

    Best wishes,

    Sam

    Hey John,

The thread seems to have grown somewhat.... I'm not sure its entirely healthy to read loads of well intentioned criticism about ones self. I wouldn't like it myself...

I'd say - go running, great for coming up with new evil schemes, clears the mind and allows me to focus. If I focus too much on anything negative it usually takes me about a day and a half to two days to get back to normal. I think you take far too much crp off people and are too generous in allowing people a right to reply.

Loved the video, and LOVE Tony Robbins. I first read 'Awaken the Giant Within' about 16 years ago after I swiped it from a friend who bought it but wasn't reading it (yes I was a bad person).

I had never read any kind of "self-help" book before and it blew my mind. Since then I've read dozens, if not hundreds, and Tony still stands above.

One thing about Tony Robbins is he is very consistent. His message and methodology has been basically the same since he first got going. That tells you something about what he is teaching, and how well it works.

thanks for the video, it was very inspiring.

Reading John's story, it makes me wonder, can we really change?

Personally, unlike most of the people in the self improvement movement, I think we can't really change, we have to carry our strengths like our weaknesses all our lives.

Sometimes we can make believe that we changed, we can even believe it ourselves but one day, in an unexpected situation, everything collapses and we're back to square one, in front of our real ourselves...

So what to do with this, complain about the hand that has been dealt for us? Apologize for it or feel ok with it and say "Heck, I'm gonna do the best I can with what I am..."

You already answered John, it's probably what is really inspiring in all this.

I 100% agree with you: people don't change, at least at their core. We can evolve, we can adapt, we can re-arrange our priorities, etc... but the core characteristics of a person, the very few pillars that define us don't change. We are what we are.

In this context, the best course of action is not to try to change ourselves, but to simply try to evolve and polish our weaknesses out so we can make the best of what we already are.

        I refuse to believe this.

If this were true, I'd still be a sociopath gang member who enjoyed stealing, robbing, and inflicting physical pain upon other people.

People can and do change, even at their core. It isn't an easy process, but it happens every day.

Some people just don't have very good reference points to draw from at an early age, and it takes great teachers and leaders to help us mold the core inside.

What you DO is not what you ARE.

For example, regardless of what you were doing previously, if you were a social, optimistic and cheerful fellow before chances are you still are even if your life style, your social circle and your daily routine have changed. In the other hand, if you were an introspective, intellectual, reserved kid in school 20 years ago, chances are you still are that way in your adulthood.

Well if you believe that, then I'm sure it's true (for you and many others).

I have to agree with you on this one Jason.

I was once in a gang and known on the streets simply as "Evil Renegade".
People feared me before they even met me as my reputation proceeded me.
I was known as someone who wouldn't hesitate to beat you down to a
bloody pulp for the simplest of reasons. I had an attitude and a violent
tendency that I was not afraid to use to my advantage.

Hell, I joined the Marine Corps simply because I wanted to go to war so I
          could legally kill people.

I am no longer the person I was back then.

But everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Those who refuse to believe change is possible convince themselves that
they cannot change and therefore they never will. Unless of course, they
finally accept change as a possibility.

Although, I do agree that there are also those folks who ACT like they have
changed when really they are simply living a lie. These are the people who
like to talk about how much they've changed, yet continue to act in the
same way as they always have. Actions speak much louder than words.

Yo man, the point being made is to believe in yourself and know that the only barriers which exist are those that YOU have placed around yourself.

You have one life to live... you can actually live it or die all warm and fuzzy knowing that you stayed true to yourself by not buying into any set of beliefs that would enable you to get past the starting line in life thus, never living life at all.

I got a lot out of the video, having been an avid Tony Robbins student since his first book "Unlimited Power", it reinforced / reminded me of what got me here today and what's going to keep it growing in the years to come. I'll never forget walking on those "hot coals" at one of his weekend seminars and the people I met there.

I learned a long time ago to focus on the content of what's being presented and not getting bogged down on meaningless details. John looked like he was doing focused listening, he didn't look nervous to me. I for one am grateful for people sharing in this thread, John and Jason and many others. But like Bill Cosby once told me, "you can't please everyone and to try and do so is folly."

If people would commit to even doing one meaningful thing they do not want to do each day, their results, after a year, would blow their minds.

Yeah, I agree people don't really change.

I can remember hearing Donald Trump say that once and I was a little taken back and disappointed to hear him say it b/c I always been big on personal growth. But the more I've studied people, including myself, I've learned that it is in fact true.

With that said, I'm still big on personal growth which to me means learning how to focus on your strengths and developing yourself into the best you that you can be. But the reality is that success comes from within - some people have it and some people just don't. (although I do believe everyone has the capability to be extremely successful in some capacity)

You might go from a criminal to a successful businessman on the outside but on the inside you're still the same person with the same tendencies, the same level of desire and the same overall personality. Chances are if you were aggressive then you're gonna be aggressive now.

When it comes to playing the cards you've been dealt in the best way possible... that's where I think personal development can be of value.

I am recovering heroin user. But I knew I'd get out of it and be a success. Now I make cash from home. But my new addiction is money. But its a bit healthier, and I love the challenge.

I have massive ADD. I dont believe Kern really does. My new problem is getting distracted by so much stuff. Its all about focus. It also helps that these guys are selling IM stuff to IMers. I think that is the easy route. To me, that is selling-out a bit.. BUt I may get into that after my niches thrive a bit more.

But I respect them both.. I just get sick of marketers marketing to marketers, no offense to anyone. I love ya all.

Just because most of the people on this planet don't change, won't change or think they can't change, does not mean change can't occur.

A person can very definitely change, if they desire it.

A person can change what they do.
A person can change what they accomplish or have.
A person can change the way they are.

The people that think we can't change are the same people that think we are unthinking animals.

We have evolved past that and it is what makes us different.

True, man can cause harm, but man can also be great.

That goes for the race as a whole and for each individual.

Obviously there is much to this subject and more than can be written in a forum such as this, but the day one thinks no one can change is the day you have given up on others and just as importantly yourself.

It's a problem philosophers have worked thousands of years on, so don't pretend to have anything more than an opinion on this matter, you'd risk to be wrong...

Everybody changes, life makes us change, but it takes years, we call it experience or wisdom.

A book can change your life, but it can't change you, as you are inside, your abilities and inabilities. It can show you tricks on how to hide or manage your weaknesses but it can't change much more.

So now the question become knowing that we all have limitations in one thing or another one, how to accomplish what we want given what we are. That's where I think there's room for improvement.

Of course they're selling something. THese guys could sell in their sleep ... that's why they're successful. They're selling something, most - if not all - of the time.

It's an excellent vid in terms of positioning. They - John and Frank - are the goo-roos who care about whether or not you use their products. The whole on-the-table premise for the interview is how to get people to take action when they are providing them with excellent content that will help them, *if* they will only use it.

It's beautiful positioning. And I've no doubt (ducks to avoid rotten tomatoes) that many marketers who provide excellent content actually WANT their customers to use it and be successful. (What a concept.)

Obviously there's more going on. Watching this roll out and how they each use it - and position it within their market - could be really useful.

I can see Pagan and Robbins working together...they would make a good team.

I've had so many emails about this video (I'm not even on that many lists) that I swore I wouldn't watch it because I knew what was coming.

I thought the staging made it seem more fake than it needed to be.

After watching it, Tony sounds like he's going downhill fast.

John actually impresses me here with his openness.

      Frank is just being Frank.

I didn't see them actually address the issue. Visualization is good, but not if you don't take any action. I had visions for 29 years, but they never came true until I actually started working hard.

In my opinion, the reason people don't follow through is because it is much easier to visualize than it is to put in the effort to make it come true. Dreams feel great and work feels hard. You don't need a course to teach you how to work hard. Watch what the experts do (not what they say) and get to work.

Visualizing is what makes us take action, dreaming does not.

What most people do is they dream. They dreamed of owning a Lamborghini, a castle, a private jet, a $100k per month online business. But they never take action, they were just dreaming. The "push" wasn't enough for them. They didn't want it badly.

Visualizing is different. I WANT the results, so I visualize it, not dream about it. When I visualize about it, I feel pumped up to take massive action, and in turn, achieve my desire, my vision.

Katie Couric could interrupt a TV broadcast right now and announce that a massive asteroid was about to hit Los Angeles, and many people would say, "Gee, Katie looks like crap tonight. That new hairstyle has got to go."

How ironic: All this side gossip about the supposedly suicidal John Reese and allegedly cowed Frank Kern in the glow of Tony Robbins makes me laugh because it's precisely that type of jabber that is symptomatic of people who miss the point and don't take action.

Which was the point of the video in the first place. Okay, the real point is to sell something down the road, but that doesn't mean that video does not contain the magic bullet for soooooo many people in this forum --- because it does.

I was just perusing a few sites with motivational quotes and came across some on "criticism". While I think a healthy level of criticism and critical thinking is good, some of it in this thread is so counter productive for what the majority of us are trying to accomplish in our businesses and lives. I thought the following quotes seemed appropriate...

"Do what you feel in your heart to be right. You'll be criticized anyway." ~ Eleanor Roosevelt

"Those who can -- do. Those who can't -- criticize." ~ Unknown source

"Brilliant people talk about ideas. Average people talk about things. Small people talk about other people." ~ Unknown source

"It is much easier to be critical than to be correct." ~ Benjamin Disraeli

"Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." ~ Benjamin Franklin

I've said before when the question has been asked on other threads that John Reese is my favourite internet marketing gu-you-know-you, and Tony Robbins helped me get a start online (I had one of his books that I found so boring that it became one of the first things I ever sold on eBay). I think he comes across much better on video than he does on paper, although I think I'd look stressed too if somebody was talking so loudly and so quickly at me for so long. Incidentally, I didn't think John looked stressed at all, just intense. The impression I got was that he was a listener who soaked things up like a sponge, and that it was one of the reasons that he'd done so well.

I don't really know much about Frank Kern and his work (*shrinks back at the gasp from the collective forum readership), but he seemed like a genuine enough guy.

The message was a good one, even though I was already familiar with it. I liked the finger-pointing twisty stuff. A five minute physical demonstration can say as much as - if not more than - half an hour spent talking about the same thing. I didn't think it was a bad use of video and I've no regrets over the time spent watching it.

Thanks to the OP for posting the link.

    Just watched it last night.

I had seen TR speak live before at a learning annex a couple years ago. He doesn't like being referred to as that "motivation guy", but that's basically what he is. He gets people pumped up and "in state" so they will take action. It's a lot of "rah rah" stuff. If I ever want to get up for something, I'd look to TR in a heart beat. Problem is, the heightened state usually doesn't last long and it dissipates and you are left looking for more motivation eventually.

I was intrigued at all the "wow, great video" comments in this thread. I asked myself why people were saying that. Then I thought, well TR got them pumped up and excited. It's purely motivational. After watching TR, you want to take on the world and that's fine.

I think that's what this video was about mostly. The other guys didn't really share any deep insights about how to become internet millionaires other than saying that visualizing and believing that it WILL happen is how it's done. These are concepts rehashed from Napoleon Hill's book and even "The Secret." Hey, if that works for people and gets them motivated, then great. But, there's a lot more to the equation.

Tony is a great marketer for sure. If he's smart, at the end of the video there would be a link to a product about "Visualizing your way to success." Again, part of the picture, motivating and inspiring but not the whole thing.

Those two products Frank mentioned are awesome.

Tony Robbins on Health and Time Management came at the right time in my life.

Man oh man. That was when MP3 players first came out. The Time program was so massive I remember days and days of ripping the CDs to mp3s

Just an incredible set. Probably worth thousands to me over the years.

And the health set is highly motivational too.

Tony studied with my teacher Dave Dobson for a while. I see a lot of what Tony does came from Dave's other than conscious processes.

Hey Frank, when you see Tony again, ask him if he knows his former teacher died and spoke highly of him.

Do you really think that's all the video was about? Visualizing your way to success?

John Reese and Frank Kern didn't "share any deep insights about how to become an internet millionaire" in this video because that's what their training materials are supposed to do and the meeting with Tony Robbins was supposed to help people take action on what's contained in the courses they've already purchased.

To me the video was much more than just motivation. It was motivational but there was more to it than just motivation and visualization.

I think the existence of this thread goes to prove that we all have too much time on our hands ;-)

So here's the inside scoop on that video:

John and I went to meet with Tony so Tony could film some footage with John to be used in an upcoming product (the one which will be sold as a result of this launch).

At some point, we were talking about random stuff and I mentioned some survey results where 70+% of the people in our little world had yet to set up a website or sell anything ...despite having bought tons of stuff. (That's pretty disturbing.)

One of us (can't remember who) said "Hey- let's talk about that on camera."

    So we did.

I didn't talk much because I wanted to hear what Tony had to say. Also, I wasn't expecting to be on video that day. In fact, I was super tired from being out all night the night before with my degenerate cousin, Trey. (Damn him!)

It was all pretty spur of the moment. The intro was shot after the interview and was my idea.

I figured it would be kind of weird to just start a video out with three dudes sitting on a couch. So the intro is really more for entertainment.

We all realized the video wasn't perfect in terms of production and so forth and we all decided that we'd release it anyway because the message was good and could potentially help people.

The overall purpose of the video is two fold:

    1. To generate good will and to help people. (Time for the skeptics to speak up, fine, but the fact that 70(ish)% of long time members of this community have YET to take action is something I'm very interested in changing for the better.)

    2. To generate interest for the new product that's being offered shortly. I won't go into detail about it here because this isn't the place to try to sell it.

By the way, Tony is VERY cool, down to earth, and funny. He's really intense in person but not in a weird way, and he genuinely cares about helping people.

He also works more than any other person I've ever seen.

Some folks don't like him, I realize. But I do and always have.

    His materials really helped me.

Love him or hate him, one thing about Tony Robbins no one can argue is the results he has produced! He has helped mulititudes and that's the reason Frank Kern and John Reese tapped into his overflowing well.

I watched the video and TR was on point! Once again...

You wouldn't believe how big that guy is in person. I'm 6'1 and weigh around 220 and I feel like a dwarf standing next to him.

I've known the guy for almost a year and I still can't get used to that.

And while we're on the topic of Tony, there's a product he has called "Time Of Your Life" that is (in my opinion) the best one he's got.

It's about managing time and getting things done. Actually, it's about way more than that ...but that's the short version.

I used to when I was creating the marketing and course materials for my Serializer classes and without it, none of that would have happened.

Another excellent Tony product is "Living Health". I got a TON of value from that.

The video was brilliant, as it offered a lot of value and is full of quality insights about changing your state and envisioning success. Granted, I have ALL of Tony Robbins' products, so have heard most of this before. It remains very motivating and TRUE.

Pop on here and everyone is talking about how John looked, the way it was edited or the fact that Frank and John were quieter than usual :-)

    It's Tony ROBBINS!!!

I saw the guy at his UPW seminar three years ago. He is a force of nature and, honestly, one of the most charismatic people I have ever witnessed.

Would anyone else have felt a little "quieter" or more awkward sitting across the couch from Tony Robbins?!

    Without a doubt!

There are some great contributions here, too. I vibe with what Jason Moffatt is saying and I was honestly blown away by what John Reese wrote.

John, that took real balls and you went WAY up in my estimation for your candor...

For what it's worth, reading the way some people online pick apart valuable videos and bash successful people they've never met would discourage many of us from sharing a vid in the first place...

That aside, John Reese comes across as a genuine, decent guy and even a little quirky (in a good way!)...

All innovators tend to be quirky, by the way. Wear it with pride :-)

I got a lot out of this video, so thanks very much for taking the time and energy to make and share it...

I owe you a great debt! Frank Kern had sent me the video but I was busy and had no time for anyone's video that day or for several other days. (ADD people have to stay focused!)

I am getting ready to give a major talk at a university in Eastern Canada in less than a month, but for some reason when I got your link this morning I clicked on it and watched the entire video.

I am so excited! The finger pointing exercise gave me a great idea for ending my talk and encouraging sales. I will go through the exercise with half a dozen folks from the audience right on stage. That will enable many to overcome the fear that "this won't work for me"!

Great stuff and thank you for bringing it to my attention once more.

Also as far as dissecting the video and there being awkward moments or we were in awe of Tony, etc. What people don't realize is that we were hanging out with Tony for like 10+ HOURS that day before this was even shot. As Frank stated above, the reason for the video was to let Tony talk and explain some things. It wasn't an interview or anything.

There's a PART 2 coming later today that is Tony asking me some stuff about the million dollar day. I think it's a great video and look forward to everyone's feedback on it.

You gotta ask if Tony figured doing a couple of IM vids would end up with a discussion on the size of his tackle and a potential soft core spanking video.

All kidding aside, far too many people take things way too seriously. It must be hell living in their world. Always looking over their shoulder to see if that shadowy figure behind them is Kern, Reese, Robins, etc. just waiting to throw the wool over their eyes.

Yes it's all part of a launch (even this thread is now part of it) but so what, good information is good information.

However it happened I think it's great that the likes of Frank and John are tapping into resources as huge (pun intended) as Tony Robbins - and what's more they're sharing it with the rest of us.

I know there are ulterior motives, but again, so what? I'm looking forward to the next video and (Mass Control techniques permitting!!) I'll make my own mind up whether to buy. But whatever happens we'll more than likely get given a shed load of quality stuff for free.

There's no doubt that Tony is an awesome motivator and a game changer. He is the master of his domain (motivation and empowerment).

The problem is that even though he's created infomercials before, this one seems a bit "off."

I think part of the problem is that most of us marketers have heard the stories of the million dollar launches over, and over, and over again and I think many of us are getting immune to them.

So...I'm thinking that with this product they are going after a new audience, one that hasn't heard these stories once a month for the past 2 years. If that is the case then, where is the congruency in the message? Are they really working to solve the problem of people not taking action or selling another 2,000 course to new IM'ers?

I love the way that Frank, John, and Tony do business, but I just wonder if people are already growing immune to launches like this?

I think it is cool that these 3 have improved the game and created a whole new playing field, I just wonder when the repetitive stories and feigned interest in them will end.

Will movie studios stop releasing movie trailers months before a movie is released? Will automakers stop 'leaking' spy photos of new car models before they are released? Will music companies stop releasing singles off of albums yet to be released yet?

Although "launches" are somewhat new to our industry, it's been a part of marketing for over 100 years.

Will some become immune or less responsive? Absolutely. That's why techniques and strategies will continue to evolve. BUT the core of the process will remain. It's simply building ANTICIPATION for something that's coming out in the future.

We're not talking about new movies, we're talking about using the same stories over and over again. Still, you didn't address my question about audiences. Kind of like watching the same movie launch every month for 2 years.

Nathan, I went back and reread what you posted. I had misunderstood you.

Yes, it's very possible that many will become immune since they've heard the same story before. It also depends how that story is being positioned.

As far as the congruency, and as you'll notice in the 2nd video, it's not just only about helping people to take action per se. That was just the initial piece of content to 'introduce' Tony to us and vice versa to get everything started and to giveaway some great content to get people interested.

I've read through most of the replies in this thread and
am dismayed at some of the comments. Particularly
those slating the way Frank's sat on the sofa or how
        shocked John Reese supposedly looks.

If you're focusing on that type of superficial stuff, you're
        missing the point.

It's a bit like watching an interview of Donald Trump and
focusing on his (admittedly) ridiculous hairstyle. C'mon
guys - he's a billionaire - surely you can learn more from
the man inside, than just looking at his outside appearance.

Though John may come across as reserved, detached and
some may say 'boring' - he's been that way for years and
at least he's consistent. In fact, I'd be more worried if he
went into the room whoopin' and wailin' and givin' high fives
        to Tony every five minutes.

If you look at all of the big guns in IM they all have strong
and consistent personalities. Maybe learn from that instead
of focusing on the minutea of how someone looks.

Admittedly, Frank was a bit more reserved and I was
surprised not to see him almost horizontal on the sofa
with his barefeet on a table.

I met Tony Robbins back in 1998 in Milan, Italy and he's
a HUGE guy with an overwhelming presence. I'm not
surprised they were both a little more reserved.

There's the message and the messanger(s).

        So, onto the message.

It started off poorly and incongruously (for me) with the
obviously made up storyline of driving around and 'dropping
        by' to see Tony Robbins.

If you want to add some entertainment at the start of the
video then at least make it congruous otherwise you run
the risk of tainting everything that's said in the interview
        later.

        And the interview?

Good content if you haven't heard much of Robbins' stuff
before. He's been preaching the 'take massive action' gospel
for well over two decades now and people still aren't doing
it - including many of his own customers.

Maybe it's time to change your approach Tony!

Sure, belief, certainty and getting rid of internal blocks are
a key factor - if you want to achieve anything in life.

But pumping yourself up into a peak state will only get you
so far. And motivational 'suntan seminars' only produce an
effect for a week or two in most cases.

Like Tony's old mentor, Jim Rohn says, "If you get an idiot
and you motivate him, now all you've got is a motivated
        idiot!"

If you're looking for the secret to massive success in IM or
any other field the answer is right in front of your eyes:

They're amongst the hardest working and best marketers in
        their respective fields.

Contrary to popular belief, Frank Kern works his tail off.
The surfer dude rides the waves but he ain't no slacker.

Looking at the video through a marketer's eyes, it'll be
interesting to see what gets launched at the end of this
        ride.

        Dedicated to your success,

In the UK one of my best friends sells hardcore.

In UK this also means rocks, stones and gravel, which is his business.

It has raised a few laughs at parties to say the least. He also has a lot of laughs with his adverts, such as "Clean Hardcore Wanted", "Hardcore Delivered to Your Door" etc. etc.

    How much will it cost?

    My Guess Number 1
What are the chances of the forthcoming release costing $1,997

    My Guess Number 2
My other alternative is just $1 with a monthly continuity of $97

$2,997,- for *everything* they've released and you can have it for free if you pay $1,- and stay for 1 year at $97,-/month at their "personal training coach program", where you can listening to web-broadcast and case studies ;-)

... loved it (!) ... the 'hobbit versions' of John and Frank made me laugh, though ... my vote: excellent content! ... the sizes might well have been done by design, but for the rest of us, here is a little tip: - beware of your wide angle lenses, it makes the objects further away very small and the foreground REALLY BIG. ...

    hey john,

i give much credit for you for stepping out and expressing your story...i also was most of my life a shy and introverted type of guy...so i understand...but yah...it's cool to see you step out and just express yourself...there may be some haters out there...but i think what's most important is that you are who you are...everyone has ups and downs...no one is perfect...who cares you're introverted...being an introvert is great because you are probably more perceptive and so forth...

anyways...thanks for your honest post...it's cool to see someone step out and share his real side...much credit to you man...

      John Reese,

That was very cool of you to share with us your personal side like that. I related more to what you had to say than you'll ever know.

Aside from bugging you a few times over the years for some bizz.nizz advice (which I took to heart), I know you know that there are so many of us who are truly inspired by you. I hang on every word you have to say, as tons of others do too.

I'm glad you are back and the passion is back too. There are many who are behind you. More than you realize I think. I too get caught up in the vocal minority and take it personally too. I think it's pride.

I often pay much more attention (and give energy to) those who spew negativity about me or my stuff, rather than focus on the positive ones - the passionate and inspired ones.

When i read what you wrote here in this thread, it reminded me to be grateful for the customers and followers who appreciate (or love) what I provide them, and ignore the others (or at least not let it effect me). hard to do.

I just want you to know that there are folks like me who are extremely inspired by you. I hold you way way up there high on a pedestal in my little world. So, you rock on man and to hell with the vocal minority. They know no better.

Also - I met Tony at the SANG event in Vegas last Spring. It was pretty cool seeing him sitting in the audience two tables away from me on his Macbook. I was nervous just saying hi. Shooting a video with him must have been a thrill.

Thanks for the advice you've provided me here and there, it's meant a ton.

      Eric Louviere
PS - who is that other hippie guy in the video with you and Tony?

You can in fairness condense almost all subject matter down to it's bare components, but irrelevent, some people really don't understand that the mental aspect of sucess is vital and while I agree, you can condense a message to a few simple words, sometimes people need to hear it.

For the 10 minutes or so it takes to watch the video, in which presumably we couldn't cure cancer or solve the problems of time travel, it didn't feel like I wasted the time in invested.

Tony Robbins has been around for some time now and there's no denying his authoritative status as "getting people to understand themselves" guru, whether he uses NPL or not.

It hîs proven yet again that intelligence is not about knowledge or how clever you are, but how you USE your intelligence to put WHAT YOU KNOW into action and making it work so it can help you achieve you own goals.

The essence of the message is clear and has been repeated over and over again:

Believe that you can and see yourself doing, actually achieving what you can and it will happen. You create your own reality. If things are not working out for you, 99% of the time it is because your own BELIEFS are creating this reality for you.

    I love this community :-)

So far I only saw the Reese / Robbins video as the others just wouldn't load - must be getting hammered.

Yeah not taking action is the monkey on my back.

How do I kill this monkey ???

Moffat - you can do 10 million a year bro - go hard !!!

As for personal change, its interesting to look at others and see the things they could change but everybody seems to be going through the motions and meeting social demands and expectations.

Man there are big things I set out to achieve in life 20 years ago - still unfullfilled

I could do these things in a few months with the right "ACTIONS"

Anyway I'm sure many of us here at WF will achieve great things in the years to come.

Tony Robbins has endorsed our boys Kern & Reese - I know Kern is after a presidential endorsement next ;-)

But doesn't the small fish mindset - and hero worship undermine the whole point ?

Actually, that sums up only the first video. Maybe you should watch the
second one closer if that's all you got out of it.

The second video tells you to focus on that first dollar to start with.
Instead of going at it with a goal of making a million before you've even
made a dollar, you need to focus on that first dollar and build from there.

Besides, you aren't the only forum member around here. Just because YOU
already (think you) know the stuff in the vids, doesn't mean EVERYONE here
knows as well. You can see from the massive amount of posts in this thread
that many people DO enjoy them and just perhaps it will help some people.

Loved the core of the videos.

Super strong info and practical mindshift examples.

Though it's funny people are hitting Frank and John so hard. Uh... this is pre-launch content... for Tony's product. Tony's the headliner.

As Frank came in and explained (as if you didn't already know) the vid wasn't created from a spur of the moment call in car. Tony - "acting" surprised the guys showed up. Cheesy, but that doesn't change the impact of the content.

Wow John, just saw your post. I can't believe how similar you are to me in regards to introversion. When I first saw the comments about you not smiling, looking intense, etc... I said to myself, "yep, there's an introvert." We tend to have unique resting faces, often sad or angry. I've dealt with it my entire life. If I only had a nickel for every time someone said to me, "why are you so quiet" or "smile" I'd be more wealthy than TR.

Anyway, you're not alone and I can definitely relate. Thanks for sharing.

BTW, the book The Introvert Advantage by Laney is an AWESOME book for anyone who wants to understand introversion on a deeper level.
