How to Give Affiliates What They Want

I'm working on an online training course that'll be for sale on CB. I'm trying to figure out how to refine both the program and my marketing to help affiliates succeed with my product. Ideally, I'd like input on what qualities my product/marketing should have that'd help convert their traffic. Everybody wins.

I've gotten conflicting advice I'm trying to sort out.

One camp is saying that everything has to be finished and refined before I ever approach a possible affiliate. Basically, saying "You only get one shot"

The other says that an affiliate would welcome the opportunity to increase their conversion rate. By allowing the affiliate in early, I could make important changes in the product and in the messaging.

More about the situation:
I do creativity & innovation training & have plenty of credentials.
I've finished the 1st version of my training program (8.5 hrs of videos) (possibly too much)
I've got most of the sales pitch done... but I'll hire a real writer once I'm ready to launch

What is your opinion as an affiliate or a product developer? Should I approach an affiliate? If so, how?
