When I was 17, I did some flash in the pan facebook viral marketing which made me a really, really decent amount of money in 2 weeks without even really trying. Then it all went south. I got banned from facebook and I abandoned it all.

But the dream stuck with me. I've tried to make a comeback to internet marketing in recent years but never really dedicated myself due to getting so easily distracted.

Now I feel like I'm in the right frame of mind to learn at 23 but I feel like I'm so behind on everything and there's so much to learn. It kind of overwhelms me seeing so many people make such huge amounts of money. I know I have the ability to succeed I just have no heading whatsoever. Where do I possibly begin?

There's so many conflicting articles all over the internet on internet marketing and SEO. I heard micro niche sites are a good start for beginners such as myself... is this true? Affiliate marketing via Clickbank?

I'm so lost. I just need to be pointed in the right direction.

Thank you for hearing me out. I can't wait to see what WF has to offer.

  • Internet marketing is important because it aligns with the way consumers make purchasing decisions. Studies by analysts such as Gartner indicate that increasing numbers of consumers use social media and research on mobile Internet to carry out preliminary product and price research before making final decisions.

Hey mate! Welcome to the forums!

What I would suggest you to do is establish an online business based on your interests and passion. It's fun to do, plus, you would benefit others greatly since you have a wide knowledge about that specific thing.

The second thing you would want to do is build a follower/traffic base. For that I would recommend you setting up a squeeze page where you offer something of valuable for free in exchange for their emails. Thats how I started out. They are many tutorials on how to set up your sales funnel. You just gotta look around.

    Hope I helped!

You have to realize that there is a lot of money to be made online particularly on selling information products like the ones in Clickbank.com

One of the right directions is to start signing up with Clickbank as an affiliate and choose a product aligned with your interest and with a gravity higher than 50% and create a product review about it. Learn SEO and optimize your site for the top 10 Search Engine Results Pages for the keyword "nameofproduct-here review" When your product review site appears on the top 10 search results, you can expect sales. This can be attained for at least 3 months although I was once able to hit top 9 for the keyword in less than 3 months. Reinvest your some of your profits in quality paid traffic from Bing, Facebook, and or twitter. Make sure you get positive cashflow for your paid ads.

Remember to take action now. That is part of beginning in the right direction.

Well, we're around the same age and I can tell you what is working for me. Build a list in a profitable niche, build a relationship with that list, and provide products and services to solve their problems. You can scale up your income in one niche or spread it around in multiple niches but as long as you focus on building your list, building relationships, and selling, you will make money.

Also, become a master at traffic and conversions. If you master those two things making money online is inevitable.

Understanding the sales funnel as Brent mentioned is a good key starting point.

However, you have to change from traditionial thinking, to a more conservative long-term mindset. Being 'guilty' of going back to "what you know or feel comfortable doing" can be a huge handicap, as it has plagued me for years.

In short, the typical impressions, influences, and structured mindset of show up, surrender (i.e. time, skill, labor, etc...) and get paid is why millions report to jobs they hate for wages that are less than their time is worth.

People seem to think, if they just take option A. "A shitty job" - eventually, it'll get better... Most times, it only prolongs the inevitable, and robs years or even decades of people's lives. (But, most continue to do just that because they are programmed, and influenced to believe that is the 'right path').

Sadly, this business can be built for under $50 (i.e. domain, hosting, and a decent autoresponder) and yet people (myself included) stumble over the million and one choices and opportunities available online.

Ultimately, it comes down to a decision... Either you apply the information or you don't. Pick nearly any niche market you like, drive targeted traffic, generate leads, communicate 'solutions' (i.e. market to that audience) consistently, and you can and will make money.

Be a douchebag like me, and keep trying to re-invent the wheel... You'll prob wind up kicking your own ass, like I am doing to myself right now... for continually returning to my 20+ years of trade skilled labor gigs that don't pay shit compared to when I wore a younger man's clothes. Hell, I made better money back then, and didn't have a clue what the hell I was doing!

In closing, get a domain, get hosting, create a lead capture form... Offer good info or services, collect leads/propspective 'buyers' and cater to their needs, wants, fears, aspirations, or pains... And "guide them" ethically, accordingly, and honestly to the solution... They'll buy the remedy!

The key is to "map out the path" for them. Computer's are all pre programmed paths leading to the conclusion prewritten by intelligent means. People, marketers, and those who understand the internet should recognize the real opportunity is finding people with a problem or desired outcome who are "in search of" and lay out the path for them to find that in which they seek.

You need money...nobody gives a flying 'F'.... What matters to the "seeker" is finding the "solution". So, if you ( unlike me) can commit to delivering them a solution by "mapping out the path" - using email messages, forum posts & siggy, paid traffic, articles, e-books, video or whatever means you deem fit to "communicate" to your "target audience" - there are plenty of "solutions" out there (i.e. affiliate products and/or services) that can earn you a nice healthy living.

Lastly... You must choose if you want to sell physical products? E-commerce? Digital product downloads? Written Materials? Services? Advice? Consultations? Coaching? Glow Sticks? Recipes? Sex? Relationship advice? Educational/Structured learning?, etc...

Me: Studied all of it... Still can't pick one, ADHD Overload!

I think if I could get a do-over, I'd write reviews, collect leads by giving away bonus offerings, and target recurring monthly billing products and services, and/or just "stick with" selling "picks n' shovels" to gold diggers!

Instead, I keep trying to create an entire "philosophy" behind my motive to help others, and it costs too much f'in time trying to "explain it all" instead of just focusing on the one thing everyone else seems to hold dearest to their heart; MAKING MONEY.

Ironically, I should be banking over $10k+ per month right now, if only I could justify the means... I'd be following my own instincts, and doing it, rather than questioning; " can it really be that f'in easy?"

It's a weird problem to have. As is being genuinely concerned for standing accountable for the information you promise, deliver, or promote!

Go to JVNotifyPro.com - promote anthing that helps people make money, do it from a non-bias position, and wah-lah... You'll make money. Me I think I've come to like studying people's hell, and rather than leave...decided to hang out there a bit longer to get a better understanding of why we punish and torment ourselves over superficial BS. - guess it's just the way of the world, man.

Sorry, just left the hospital for a foot injury... Meds got me a bit lit up at the moment,

Good Luck, and Happy St. Patty's day to my fellow Irishmen!

In my opinion, there're 3 basic components:

    1) product
    2) opt-in list
    3) traffic

    Start with product:

    - create your own (ebooks, videos, audios, coaching...)
    - promote affiliate offers
    - sell your skills as freelancer (graphic design, seo services, create content,...)

    Hope it helps :-)

To answer your question...I don't know.

But, I can tell you a few things which have worked for me since 1985.

    Four part strategy:

    1) Automated Product Vending sites
    2) Providing Services
    3) Product Creation
    4) Affiliate Marketing

I set up multiple streams of income, and the above are the four legs of the table. Here are some details.

1- APV, Automated Product Vending are like getting a Snickers out of a machine when you're hungry. Put the money in, push a button, product comes out.

I've had scores of these simple one page websites, and some have been set up for over a decade. The secret? Got to send constant traffic to them. Not hard once established.

2- Services. I have ghost written several projects, and have provided copywriting and marketing services to others. Get good at something and promote yourself and get testimonials. Takes time to develop talent.

3- Create Products. Mine have been audio, video and a ton of the written word, specializing in reports. But had cassettes, CDs, DVDs, 3 ring binders, and simple one page hotsheets. If you can't create, you can always leverage through Other People's Work, like with PLR.

4- Sell other people's stuff. One product I sold, a Jim Straw course, had a 495 buck commission...have a range of products in all levels.

I'm sure there are lots of other ways to do it, but over time, these four cornerstones have supported some pretty good times, and for 30 years, I have no complaints.

But, YOU and everyone else have to find your own FOUNDATION on which to build a FRAMEWORK around and then simply FOCUS with blinders on until you reach your goals.

My best advice: spend time figuring out what and why before you actually do.

    Good luck

If I were to start from scratch, I would still follow the same procedure:

      1. HTML and CSS --guru level
      2. How to write for the web
      3. How to optimize the parts of a website (server, code, files)

With those three, you have the correct grounds for SEO.

      4. How to build a mailing list
      5. How to steal traffic from those who have it
      6. How to build links and get rankings

With those three, you should have enough to even start teaching me something. =)

This is Not meant to be a blueprint for you, just a suggestion.
