How can building a list make a successful affiliate marketer?

I understand the basics of landing pages and building a list but when it actually comes to the idea of building a list of emails, how can that possibly help me?

Having a list of targeted buyers is very valuable. If you know exactly what your list is interested in, you can keep sending them product offers. As long as your offers are focused in that specific niche, you have a very good chance of making some sales.

Building a list of people that you can market to is one of the most effective ways to promote and market products directly to people's inboxes. With some clever psychology and great product info, potential customers are more likely to buy products compared to lets say for example a static banner ad graphic on the side of a blog.

Build an email list within your niche, find products that would benefit or attract your niche and target your emails to them. Give them offers, reviews, benefits of buying that product, etc.

So you can build rapport, prestige, authority, and relationships, all the while promoting over, and over, and over, and over.

But, it's only possible if you know how to make your emails super cool.

You can much more easily sell products (and also affiliate) when you have strong base of customers. And email list helps a lot with it.

Think of it like this: collection + marketing + remarketing.

      To explain . . .

Depending on your niche product or service, whether you're in the business of selling your own marketing e-books or promoting online video game offers as an affiliate or attempting to derive an income from any number of other products and services, your target market can be found in certain locations, both online and offline. This might be in general locations, like in a particular city, or it might be in specific locations, like certain forums or Facebook groups or by positioning yourself to take advantage of relevant search terms in general search engines like Google or internal search engines like the one you'll find on Youtube. I call these locations Market Pools. You can think of them as individual and specific areas where your target audience can be found. In sum, they represent your market, the entire sea of people interested in your product or service.

As an online marketer, your job is to locate the Market Pools, and not merely market your product or service to the occupants, but collect the occupants, and continue to remarket those products and services to them in the future.

An experienced marketer will begin a new IM venture with a Traffic Plan. And part of that plan will deal with the locations of his or her Market Pools. The general aim will either be to market products and services to them first, or, usually in the case of email marketing, to encourage occupants in Market Pools to become newsletter subscribers (collection), and after which, through a process of sales funnelling, to promote those products and services to them (marketing), and, in an ongoing capacity, over time to continue those marketing efforts (remarketing). And what you are in effect doing as an email marketer is, as Discrat points out, and I love the phrasing, putting all of those Market Pools in the one place, your newsletter list(s), which is "like having Instant Traffic at the push of a 'send' button."

Give you an example: cat apparel.

Let's say I have an eCommerce website that sells cat shoes and cat hats and whatever else those funky felines like to wear this season. And let's further say that I'm not merely content to build a newsletter list. I want to collect my audience, yes, to make my own Market Sea, yes yes, but I don't want to rely on the Email List as the only means of doing that.

What I might do, then, is collect my audience members into 3 locations that I can control, with varying degrees of power:

      1. An Email List.
      2. A Facebook Fan Page.
      3. An On-Site Forum.

I could have chosen dozens of other places to collect them; for reasons of brevity here, let's say I chose the above 3. And I do so for a reason. They each represent collection locations with distinct advantages. To give you some examples. The Email List would allow me to develop quite a nice and cosy one-on-one relationship with each of my audience members. The Facebook Fan Page would allow me to syndicate information to my audience members that might easily be engaged en masse and, through that social engagement, spread to the four corners of the internet, thereby spreading word about my cat apparel and likely leading to sales and further audience members winding up on my collection platforms. And, lastly, The On-Site Forum not only collects my audience members, putting them in the one place, but fuels the collection potential of my business through the generation of free, user-submitted, search engine adored content.

Over the last 12 months, for example, and based on my initial Traffic Plan (that details all of my Market Pools), I might have derived traffic from a handful of places that I consider Market Pools:

      1. Forums.
      2. Facebook Groups.
      3. Google Search Terms.
      4. Video Search Terms.
      5. Paid Search Terms.
      6. + Thousands of other locations.

Thus collected, residing as those audience members do on my Email List, on my Facebook Page, and on my Forum, I have within my control something that is vital to the successful application of marketing and sales efforts. Discrat sums it up beautifully. I have, to cut a long story short, a means of getting Instant Traffic. Those traffic platforms are under my control. 500,000 subscribers? 1.5 Million Fan Page likes? 28,000 forum members?

I'm in the business of selling funky feline apparel - and business is MEOWvellous.

First did you know that only 2% of your traffic will buy your product or service on the first visit? You will be spending all that time and money on traffic just for most of it to come and go.

You give something away of value and something that people need and it helps them now your traffic percent can jump to 20%, 40% with a really well optimized landing page your talking over 60%. Over 60% of all the traffic optin in to get the information you are providing. Thats where it all starts.

So you are leveraging your marketing efforts at this point and well get into just how in a moment.

Now at this point you have a means to talk with your prospects. This is through your emails. You can start to build trust and give people a reason to buy from you. Now your conversions for a paid product are through the roof. You set this up correctly you lead your prospect into a low entry paid product to give you some front end cash flow.

    Now for the real money!

You now have a list or traffic on demand to promote other related products and services when they come out as you feel fit. You can now promote higher ticket items and get a conversion. Just think about have a product or service that pays you $500 or $1000 or more per commission. Sell a few of those during the month!

The biggest reason for list-building is that it minimizes your chance of lost sales, while increasing the chances of making repeat sales. Let's say a visitor comes to your site, reads a product review, and then leaves. There's no guarantee they are going to come back and purchase from you! Unless you are targeting keywords with high buyer intent (for example, "Buy XYZ "), it is difficult to convert cold traffic when you've only got one opportunity to make a sale.

Now imagine that instead of just trying to sell to that visitor through your affiliate link, you actually got them to sign up to your email list. They've read a free report you created about XYZ Widgets (or something closely related) and they have started to trust you as a provider of reliable information. You also send them a few more informational emails with gentle pre-sells to lower buying resistance. Finally, you send a killer pitch email that makes an offer too good to refuse... and the sale is made! But that's not the end of it, because you've made the sale, and you can now repeat the process with a different product.

Basically, with an email list it is easier to make the initial sale, and much simpler to make repeat sales, as well!

With email marketing you get the chance to market to a group of people over and over again. If you just lead 100 people to your sales page to buy, more than likely your sales conversion rate will be very low - but you could still without a doubt get sales this way.

If you had an email list of 50 people, targeted, at the same price as the example above.... your chances of closing more sales boosts dramatically. These people will be exposed to your message every week.

The 100 people who go to the affiliate vendor's sales page will see the page, scroll up and down sporatically, then click off the site into an eternal cyber black hole. You more than like won't see them again, so now you have to work hard to get another 100 targeted people.... who will more than likely repeat the same thing.

List is like Confirm grab your target audiences.

You already like " control " them aka you can trace back them who visited your site before back

( but open rate and click don't confirm either. Ask yourself do you open those marketing email which you happen to key in your email in their landing page ? )

I doubt you will go click and buy but yes perhaps the produce is very good you might consider.

Most of the time you just read the email and close that it or unsubscribe if that marketer keep email you every day trying to hard sell you.

on the other hand I do noticed some audience will ownself go back to their site or Face book page if they happen to visit your site before and feel not bad and everyday want to check your site what latest stuffs you post .

these audiences are like become your follower , they might buy stuffs from your site even you don't email them as they ownself visit your site /page every day.

I do know one FB page , yes they have a shop , also have a website

in fact I don't visit their site ..is more on their FB page as check up what the latest gadgets they selling ..I see fellow follower also asking how much their stuffs cost under the comment.

thus you see FB page also can build up your target audiences without you email them. They will come and visit .

        Let's keep it simple.

"Building a list" won't make you a successful affiliate marketer. Building a list is a means to an end.

That end is having a group of people interested enough in hearing how you can help them that they give you permission to contact them in one of the most personal, intimate ways available online - in their inbox.

Use that permission well, and you turn that group (or at least part of it) into fans who trust your recommendations and follow them. If you do a good job, everybody wins.

  • It's all about building a relationship in specific niches and as you do so you can recommend products to people in your list. It's important to build a relationship and also to build trust with your subscribers, reply to their emails, be available to them etc and to only promote really quality products. It's also a great idea to offer bonuses for purchases that they make. This can add significant value to the product being sold and entice your subscribers to purchase recommendations you make.

    Have a blissful day.

Building an email list helps significantly for the following reasons:

    - Most people need to be exposed to an offer a few times before they buy, so capturing an email address allows multiple opportunities to close the sale.

    - You can promote multiple products to the same person(s) so this gives another opportunity to make more money from your traffic.

    - You can use those subscribers to leverage anything else you're doing, such as building a blog. By sending out an email to your list you can get a new blog post some exposure and shares (which brings in even more blog readers).

In other words, building an email list gives you more mileage out of your traffic.

    Regards,
    Daniel

    Dear MWilliams,
building a list is a powerful tool in creating the basis of your potential customers. The idea of a list is so that you personally build a relationship with those people.
So it would not be wise though to just go ahead and send marketing info to people selling them something. Although this is achievable, it doesn't help build a sustainable business.
It would be like walking into a room and just selling something to people straight away without warming them up first.
In your email marketing you can let people get to know you as well as offering them freebie stuff just by giving them some information that is going to help them. You want to build a relationship with your potential customers, not just sell to them once or drive them away.
This can be a more sustainable way to brand yourself and create a sustainable income.
People will get to trust and know you over time which can allow you to create amazing products yourself or just sell on through an affiliate programme.
Depending on how casual or serious you want it to be is up to you-Hope this helps Jennifer

If you have a list already then it'll be much easier for you to market your product.
If they subscribe to your mailing list, then it is like they are telling you that they are willing to receive whatever it is you can offer them.

just look at it this way

you have a 10,000 email list in the weightloss niche

you email a promotion to a product and 20% opens = 2,000 people reads your email

out of that 20% let's say 20% clicks your affiliate link in the email = 400 link clicks

out of that 400 clicks, 20% buys the product you are promoting = 80 sales

so if for example, for every sale you get a $50 commission, that equates to $4000

and that is just for ONE email promotion

Having a list is definitely a valuable assest because its a great means of advertising your goods or the service you render. You create awareness by broadcasting promotions to this responsive list of yours. Although i strongly advice that you have a good interaction with your list members and ensure you send them what they are interested in.
