Made my first sale on Clickbank but I'm concerned..

So I made my first sale on Clickbank the other day and made $130 in commission! Wohoo!

The affiliate link was from my website directly to the sales video. I am now working on optimizing my site, auto responder and finding other clickbank offers.

Some vendors clearly want traffic sent to their free optins like a quiz or an ebook. I signed up for the optin myself after going through MY affiliate link, then I click the email and go to checkout to see if I would get commission and I don't.

How do I as an affiliate get commission from leads I sent to their free optin? Am I missing something?

When you send a visitor through your affiliate link they are cookied for about 60 days.

When you went to the checkout did it show an affiliate at the bottom of the page or nothing?

A few things could have happened:

If there is a different affiliate id to yours on the checkout page: You've been pushed through another hoplink.

If there is no affiliate id on the checkout page: Check how long your browser stores cookies and confirm you haven't cleared your cookies in between the original hop and your second visit.

It is tempting to at first assume the vendor has done something unscrupulous, and it is possible, but long-term it is not going to work in the vendor's favor.

This is so true. Most Vendors are too smart to rip people off, because if people start talking bad about them, their business will no longer be able to attract affiliates.

And Clickbank doesn't want to scare off affiliates, so they make it fair for them and ensure they get paid also, if they refer someone.

    You don't get commissions.

At least this is what I've seen from many vendors that have an optin form in the sales page.
If the traffic you send to the sales page don't buy, the vendor try to get them to optin to their list
this way they can still promoting to them, but doing it directly without your referral.

That's the reason I don't promote any product with a sales page leak.

I think the workaround for you would be to provide the freebie yourself, preferably in the form
of a presell report so YOU get the leads, and then send them off to Clickbank (preferably a
      page without an opt-in form).

And, of course, you can then continue to promote that same Clickbank product as well as
many others (plus products from other places, like JVZoo etc.).

It's the way to grow your own affiliate business!

contact the vendor and check their affiliate page Quite a few clickbank vendors will provide sales pages without the optins. You sould also look for downsells, you should avoid pages like that as well.

More and more people are opting to create their own sales pages and send potential customers directly to the checkout. Again, you will have to work with the vendors on this

Congratulations to your first sale! That is one of the happiest moments in our lives as affiliate marketers. Keep funneling more sales!

As for the opt in page, I simply don't promote products that have squeeze page in the sàlespage. Vendors should learn to do their lead gen through a blog and not on sàlespage or they will loss affiliates

I agree with Eagle07. If a sales page has an optin form, the vendor is more likely to capture the sale.

Pick products that don't have optin forms in the sales page.

iframe the vendor's salespage to your website and prevent the vendor's free product exit pop up from appearing. i believe there is a wordpress plug in that does that
