Hi Guys,

I can optimize my sites for good serps in Google,
but I don't know what on-page/off-page factors are most important
for ranking in MSN.

Can someone who is good at optimising for MSN guide me?

I don't know either. But what I do know, is that Google is now THIRD PLACE behind Bing and then Yahoo for click-through rates on PPC. So, I think they will start to gain some serious ground and hopefully break big-G's monopoly.

Thanks guys. I see that some of my pages that I have on first
page in google are on second or third page in msn. I didn't care
about msn or yahoo so far, but I want to try to get onto first
page there too. When you are on the second page there is almost
no traffic from msn, only first page placement brings traffic.

Google usually has been below MS (and maybe yahoo, don't remember) in terms of click-through rates. The reason why google has a monopoly is volume of traffic, not click quality.

It's a lot more about on-page SEO, at least from what I can tell. They don't seem to care nearly as much as G about backlinks, for example. I would concentrate on using the keyword in the Title of the page, and once near the beginning of your page copy. Then use a variation of the keyword phrase again in that first paragraph of page copy.

For example, if the keyword is dog training, use it in the Title and first line of the page copy. Then use something like 'training a dog' or 'how to train a dog' a bit further down in the same opening paragraph of copy.

Overall, keep the homepage content tightly focused on the main keyword. Don't drift around. This seems to satisfy MSN.

Yahoo and Bing seem to like sitewide links. Create some autoblogs on seperate IP's and run sitewide links back to your main site with the right anchor text.
