Free Voice Mail Service?

I think Google used to have this service but I'm not sure if they still do or how to activate it. If someone can point me in the right direction that'll be great!

Basically what I want to do is get a number generated and if people call it they are directed to a voice email.
The voice is then recorded and sent to email a specific email.

If there is a way of doing this without purchasing another sim-card that would be big bonus!

    You are probably thinking of Google Voice. However, you will need your own phone number to connect with your Google Voice number.

    To get the google voice service, you may have to virify your credit card. Without verifying your credit card, you may not get this feature. If you try to verify your credit card, they will try to check your credit card status. thanks for your advance.
