Is Your Hard Drive a Garbage Can?

I admit it I have done this so many times. It is absolutely pointless and counter productive.

Honestly have you accepted a free report, ebook, video, whatever...downloaded it, saved it to a file "to be read later" and never opened it?

How bout this idea to combat this hoarding?

Open the file BEFORE saving it. Quick scan to determine if it is something worth saving. If it turns out to be crud, boom to the real trash bin. If it turns out to be something good for business, then put it on a timeline for closer scrutiny and implementation.

Any thoughts?

Yes, I do consider my hard drive a garbage can. Way too many ebooks, software programs, videos, etc that just didn't live up to their hype. If I could count the amount of stuff I bought online in the past 9 years I would get depressed just thinking about it. So now I'm extremely cautious about whose mailing list I'm on and I only buy from to 5 lists that I've subscribe to. This way I eliminate buying crap. Excuse my french.

LOL! Yes, I've done that quite a few times but that little tactic you talk about is what I've personally been doing for a while.

I think if people would simply realize that you don't need all these "freebies" to stay on top of your game and be "up to speed", to be successful in whatever it is. In fact, lots of these free reports, videos, etc., are complete garbage to begin with.

Out of sight out of mind!

Just delete it. Your workspace should be clean and have absolutely no distractions.

The more junk you accumulate the more problems you create when you are trying to work as your mind wanders to a thousand different ebooks that seem to have the answer to your prayer.

The only other solution is store it on a external hard drive when you have time go through them.

I actually love deleting and unsubscribing from junk mailers - the power you feel is very liberating and cleansing!

A Detox for your computer means not only ebooks, what about the cookies? The temp folders, all those nasty things hiding in your deleted folders.

FREE Tools that I use regularly everyday
    ccleaner
    windows washer
    Registry cleaner
defraggler once a week to keep all files organised

Even though I'm obsessed with having a clean computer you would still be surprised by the amount of junk that gets hidden in your computer all from using the internet and without your permission, that's why cleaning is important.

Here is another idea to keep the fresh download fresh. Download it to your desktop. Then it continues to stare at you until you finish that unfinished business. If you did this with PLR then you would be that less likely to let it get old before you convert to a saleable product.

My hard drive is most certainly a garbage can,.....
but its like anything else...you dont want to throw anything
    away or delete anything...

with me, I always justify it by saying...Oh I will probably use
that someday but of course, you never do..

I have tons of emails that really need to go..lol

I organize them into subjects so that when I start a project and get interested in a subject, I already have a folder full of information about it.

Just the other day, I started to go through every file and ebook on my hard drive, I deleted the ones that were utter junk (most of them), and kept the ones that had some value (not as many)

It took me almost two full days.
