Yes it will. .US is not treated any differently from .COM even though its always a good idea to use the right extension for the right purpose. Eg .co.uk for UK sites.

Yes sure. It is worth to have a .us domain. However, one of the following eligibility requirements must be meet in order to register .us domain

    - A natural person (i) who is a citizen or permanent resident of the United States of America or any of its possessions or territories or (ii) whose primary place of domicile is in the United States of America or any of its possessions, or
    - Any entity or organization that is incorporated within one of the fifty (50) United States states, the District of Columbia, or any of the United States possessions or territories or (ii) organized or otherwise constituted under the laws of a state of the United States of America, the District of Columbia, or any of its possessions or territories, or
    - An entity or organization (including federal, state, or local government of the United States, or a political subdivision thereof) that has a bona fide presence in the United States.

Traffic does not depend on the TLD. However, the search engines seem to prefer .COMs. Then there's the issue of resale value.

If you're planning on building anything of value, why on earth would you get something like a .US domain? Yes, I understand that "all of the good ones are taken", but get creative and you can find something that has your keywords in it and will still work for you.

If you're looking for something like a redirect domain, then you might as well use an 89-cent .INFO.

yes I agree with Rob. Although .US is still a good name when used for .U.S. business or products or anything in the USA. But .com is widely remembered as being top.

I think if the .com of your keyword is already taken, go for the .us domain. I heard it's very important to create domain name exactly the same as your keyword

.us didn't catch up so the king is still .com - that's for sure.
If the domain is really unique and good I wouldn't let the extension bother me (i.e. we own a cool fun site at a url named p.kg - we didn't let the .kg domain frighten us as we loved the sound of the domain).

Traffic wise - it's a matter of SEO more then it is a domain question.

From my experience I have not noticed any difference in Google rankings for .us compared to .com. However for resale .com is clearly better.

Streem are a .us site and they go pretty well.

TLD's are not as super driven as they once were.

    .us is okay!

The SE's don't really care about the extension.
    Don't expect type-in traffic.
And don't make sure your visitors know that you are a .US and not a .COM. Most people assume .COM and will type it in automatically.

Old thread but shouldn't a .us give some advantage in the states?

Same like .de ranks better in Germany, .nl better in the Netherlands etc.

I thought .us would be the perfect choice when targetting Amazon US products.
