Default POLL: What is an acceptable return rate?

Hi,

Quick question... if you are promoting a program as an affiliate, what is the highest return rate you would consider acceptable.

I will be a bit more specific, let's say the product is a digital product (eBook, audio, video etc) delivered online, price point $200, and in the "Make Money" niche.

I have an exiting launch coming up, I'd love for you to be a part of it.

Zero. Nobody should return the product. Ever. If I am getting returns, something is wrong with either the product or my sales effort, and I should fix it.

Oh, and insert some lame joke here about how you can't really "return" it anyway. What am I going to do, make you upload it back to me?

Generally a 5-7% refund rate is normal for me. If I'm selling a few copies and over time the refund rate goes above 7% I'd be a little concerned. But if it's still the best option, I'd stick with it. If there were a bunch of other good programs with a lower refund rate (and better overall product) I'd go with that too.

I have seen some pretty crazy refund rates (25%+) in this niche, but most really good products won't suffer from something like this.

I think zero for an info product is just unrealistic... aside from anything else, you will always have the scammers that were always going to ask for their money back no matter what the quality of the product.... then you have your... let's say... not so sharp people, that just don't understand it... it doesn't matter how simple you make it, there is always someone out there more simple

up to 10% - There are always a few monkeys who will steal from you and a few people who just get remorse or having habitual buy / return mindset.

Ultra low refunds mean you are not serving enough people.

I actually had someone say that to me in an emailing when wanting a refund "Let me know where I can return it" The way the person put it just make me think that they just wanted the product for free (especially as they gave no reason for the refund either).

I'd say about 5 - 6.9% for a $200 product

5 - 6.9% return rate seems acceptable for a $200 product.

Some percentage of the people purchase the product but don't implement it and asks for the refund.

I have seen some cases where buyers ask for refund even when digital product is excellent and genuine.

Good thinking, but unfortunately, you will ALWAYS get refund
requests even if the product is superb...

Don't forget about those annoying serial refunders. Normally they
don't even look thoroughly at the e-book. They just ask for a refund
because they want to get everything for free.

As for the OP's question, I say about 5% is pretty good. That's
where my refund rate is usually at.

Wow, pretty varied response so far. I have heard a rumor (that I believe to be true) that one of the big launches from one of the well know gurus recently had a 40% return rate!

I have an exiting launch coming up, I'd love for you to be a part of it.
